I'm not here to stand up for Sandusky or anybody else, but what has happened the last few days has really got me thinking.
We as individuals like to think that we are innocent until proven guilty if we have allegations thrown at us. We as a society today don't quite wait for the judicial system to do their due diligence and we like to play the part of the jury with only part of the facts. From all the information that has come forward from the Penn State case, Sandusky seems to be an animal and a pedophile, but do we really know all the facts. Has it never occurred in the history of mankind for a group of people to throw false allegations at someone? Has it never occurred in the history of mankind for a group of unfavorable events to all happen that would make someone look like something they weren't?
The political correct crowd that has enveloped our country today has forced people to lose their job, livelihood, etc. way before allegations have turned into convictions. Do we today as a society have the power to skip the individual freedoms of the accused? Would it be too much to hold our tongue's as a whole (media especially) until all the facts have come forward and a decision has been made in the court room? Wait for the court room's decision before the powers that be make life changing decisions for others.
The media today has formed a following that thinks it is o.k. to bypass an individual's right to freedom. We today gang up on people and look down on them before all the facts are fully disclosed. It is all o.k. as long as it is not us or one of our loved ones. People lie, steal, and cheat, and that goes for the defendant and plaintiff. Can we get back to innocent until proven guilty or do we have to continue to allow the media to mechanically arouse the masses into making the decisions prematurely.
**I personally believe that Sandusky is guilty and do not write this trying to give him any type of credit. I simply am irked at hearing the media refer to him as if he has already been found guilty of all charges.
