Mazeroski, When the ball sailed over the left field wall the city was never the same.
IMHO, a defining moment in Pittsburgh sports history.

I re-read the quest, of course Maz was an average athlete but, his moment was like none other

My grandmother was in love with Bruno.

Great interview here in town with Jack Ham recently. The whole locker room and coaching staff were scared to death of Ernie Holms. Funny stuff.

Hugh Green was awesome and so is Fitzgerald.

Woodson and Blount not mentioned yet.

Mario would get my vote.

Joe Montana for Pittsburgher

My list above doesn't include "We are Family" or the Steelers, it's just kids from Pittsburgh.....ScottyS

Pittsburgh also has a long history of bookmakers that migrated to Vegas in the early days

I just did some number crunching in the "JourneyGrinder'...

The Alltime Curtain would have allowed 4.6 points per game lol...Amazing!

We will stick with the original front four;
DE LC GREENWOOD
DE DWIGHT WHITE
DT JOE GREENE
DT ERNIE HOLMES

No better trio of linebackers!
OLB Jack Ham
MLB Jack Lambert
OLB Gregg Lloyd

Argueably the best cornerbacks to ever play!
CB Mel Blount
CB Rod Woodson
SS Mike Wagner
FS Donnie Shell

Now that is a DEFENSE!

People are reading it as Pittsburgh team players, not Pittsburgh born players.

Anyway in baseball, anyone who says Clemente over Wagner should be embarrassed for themsleves. Wagner is one of the 5 best players of all time.

Clemente was a pretty good player who is a great story, but the modern day equivalent would be taking, say, Ichiro over Bonds.

Woodson and Loyd did not play on that team with those guys. Maybe you're just talking all time best.
