eek - California is overall very much a centrist state, the media has people fooled (not surprisingly). Outside of "San Fransicko" and the sickness of Hollywood, it's moderate to conservative almost everywhere else, including parts of the immediate Bay Area. Southern CA, for example, is very conservative on the whole including most, if not all, of Orange Co. and San Diego Co. who enjoys a large military population.

The majority of Americans detest the idea of gay marrige, period.

I've outlined in detail the myriad of reasons why it is a bad and
evil idea.

Looks like even California agrees with moi.

:dancefool

You sir, are a closeted ***.

yawn...

so everyone that doesn't support gay marriage is a closet homo?

ergo, 60% of the country are closet gays?

:ohno:

I don't like it when people defending a position, use a gay bash to argue a point...

I disagree with you on a lot of things but calling you a closeted homo doesn't help the argument.

Look, I'm not arguing that a case can't be made that homosexuality is an abomination based on sections of the Old Testament and the letters of Paul. I'm only saying that, in my opinion, at least an an equally strong case can be made that Christ's teachings and admonitions concerned much more basic and important precepts than one's sexual preference. It is not for me or you or anyone here to make that judgment.

And, even if I were to accept your interpretation, it is certainly not our place to insist that others accept our religious beliefs as the guidepost for their lives.

Well put, MT. Christ of course never "ordered" mankind to do ANYTHING.

He only advised and gave counsel that following certain principles insures positive consequences (and vice versa).

Unfortunately, many Christians - mostly the stern Fundamenalists - have some different interpretations. And the problem kicks in when they insist that all other sects of Christians either agree with them or else be deemed "non-Christians" or worse, "cult members".

Thankfully, those of us who happy Christians who don't always agree with the Fundy interpretations can rock on with very happy spiritual lives while not giving a shit that the Fundies give us regular frowning Wags of the Finger.

Cheer the Gay Away...

These guys look like closet gays.

I would characterize myself as being against gay marriage.

But...that freekin picture is disturbing. Really to care that much about the issue that you'd cheer like your team just won the World Series seems a bit much.

Go smoke some more illegal drugs, oh Mr. spiritual one.

Of course this is a lie:

"Well put, MT. Christ of course never "ordered" mankind to do ANYTHING."

Of course he didn't, right? That way you can do whatever you like,
and joke about abortions being cockroaches, smoke illegal drugs...
blah blah, and your woman pastor tells everyone: "Everyone is perfect
just the way they are." (see unity cult home page banner)

Can you say delusion?

I'm curious how this effects the gays who have already been married in California. Anyone know?

Other great news:

Florida and Arizona also outlawed homo marriage, and Arkansas
ruled that it is unlawful for homos to adopt or be foster parents.
