I don't think it will be too difficult for him to pull that off. Especially if he's going to remain a pawn of the far left loons in the party. Like his VP.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I think the Biden Administration will actually govern more moderately than a lot of Republicans think. A lot of the lefty talk is exactly that -- talk.

Maybe four years of elections results showing that most of America isn't buying that bullshit will finally convince the Democrats to trend towards the middle. Maybe not

Here's to hoping you are right. I'm not at all optimistic about that though.

Policies matter, both Clinton an Obama were totally destroyed two years after their elections by misreading the electorate. If you want to see what a political wave looks like, research the results of 1994 and 2010

Yet Clinton and Obama both won re-election pretty easily

If policies matter so much, why didn't Trump last more than one term? He had pretty reasonable policies IMO

What matters now, is what the MSM wants you to know. And what narrative they will spin. And what gets censored on social media.

That's what's most important now.

Republican party really really has some soul searching to do. Whatever equity was made over the past 4 years was literally thrown out the window in a single day.

This applies to both parties, though Democrats obviously are in a better position in the near future.

End of Trump will be good for the Republicans in the long run. I think that day was a good opportunity for many on the right to detach from him

And astounding how fast it happened too. Within a matter of hours the straw finally broke the camels back. It would be nice to work with sensible republicans. Let's see how it goes.

While democrats have thrown their credibility out the window for four years and counting

I can't comprehend how good and smart people don't see the extreme hypocrisy of such statements. Whatever happened in DC pales to 4 years of violence and uprising actually encouraged and espoused by the left. This is the world the left has created, and it's obvious from their ongoing lies coming out of DC there's no turning back. Welcome to your world democrats, good luck with that.

Until we the people hold all politicians and our scumbag media accountable for whatever lies, false narratives, fake news and hatred they've created, there will be no reconciliation in the political arena

How many of those 2010 Senate seats that were up for grabs were already held by Republicans?

They already lost control and are going to be playing a lot of defense in 2022. It will take some all-time awful policy and terrible behavior from Biden to turn the tide back red.

How many incumbents lose?

They won in 2010 because of extreme leftwing policies, they won again in 2016, there's absolutely no reason to believe they'll lose if Biden tries to keep his extreme left wing promises

Your sources tell us the map is always bad for Republicans. Your sources told us the Republican party is dead on multiple occasions. Your sources told us 2020 was going to be a blue wave, and we saw a whopping three republican incumbent senators lose, two of them were appointed to begin with (as in not previously elected to their seat). In the meantime, republicans shocked your party and your sources with double digit pickups in the House

Conventional wisdom is rarely wise. Let time do it's thing. If Biden does a good job, only then can the GOP be in trouble in 2022.

PS: If those 2022 incumbents on the ballot first won in 2016, then your argument would carry more weight

I'm sorry my friend, not sure what this means. If you oppose them in the political arena, do you really want to be them in the political arena?

I'm a policy wonk, that's never going to change. No matter how idealistic, and fruitless, that may be. I can't be something I'm not

But that's what makes me tick :)

What it means Willie is they took their eye off the prize. The candidates in Georgia needed cover. McConnell gave them none, and Trump doubled down against them. And in the end, they lose the Senate and what would have happened is going to happen anyway. And who will pay for it? The same Middle Class that would have paid for it had they passed the Stimulus in the first place with the repeal of the tax bill (which I believe will happen). And now they are on the outside looking in because of it. It makes no sense.

No one is going to argue your points, but in the end, they lost control because of it. That's not winning the game.

Trump is America first, he can't help himself. His choice or words was poor (not the first time BTW)

He said we should give all Americans (meaning couple earning < 150k and singles earning < 75k) 2k each.

What he meant and what he should have said. All of the above, BUTT, only if we eliminate other wasteful spending in the bill like funding gender studies in Pakistan. If he used those words, Nancy wouldn't have been so quick to capitalize on the moment.

He played his hand horribly (not the first time BTW)

I'm pretty sure most people understood the income demographic he was referring to based on the previous stimulus. And the pork that Trump was talking about would have made very little difference as it amounted to less than 1/2%. Republicans need to pick and choose their battles wisely. This was not one they should have taken on. Sometimes you have to live to fight another day.

I pretty much agree. Especially with this specific situation. Sometimes you have to lose a battle to win the war.
