GS You're The Best

2 guys I love here you & Coach LT, I'm going to blame for my own stupidity. I did something I rarely do. changed a pick. I was on Ball, then talked to my OLD Pal in Fl., and said he like the Zips, then I see you're on em. Being the freeking lemming that I am I switched. And the rest as "they" say is history.:ohno: But conversly I was on th fence re. ISU, albeit lucky we still won. All in all a VERY good day. OU/SC in BCS title game. OU 35/SC 31. Nov. 19, Chips vs Ball for MAC W. Oh BTW for you 1/2 buy naysayers, see CM -3-, TT 35-, GA 7, etc. small $$ investment paid for itself 10 times over. Math wizz or not, think again. Saved/made me over 5 bills on Sat.! BOL GS keep it up my friend.

Silver...These MAC teams are killing me. I've actually been on the right side 3 times and came out a loser each time because they failed to cover a 6 point spread or less. It's like trying to pick highschool football. The TT line I got off of because of the previous weather/field conditions. But I had the 36 line. So it would have been a tie. It's hard to recommend TT right now. They just don't look quite like their usual selves of rolling up 70 points on the cupcakes. I don't know if they've changed their style or they're just not that good. I know one thing, Leach will do anything to try to get a cover. Did you see him try to apologize to June Jones last night after the game? I would liked to have heard that short conversation.

GoSooners, Jones is a Mouse Davis guy(Portland State--run&shoot) who has helped Leach over the years with his offensive philosophy. He would have been throwing from the 1 yd line against an enemy. :ohno:

GoSooners, how about the WAC and MWC too for good measure. Both of those minors have been putting a whupping on BCS teams all year thus far. I mentioned elsewhere that the scholarship limit, since being reduced to 85 has resulted in more better talent being spread around the non-BCS schools. If this is a harbinger of things to come, we will all need to sharpen up our knowledge of the non-BCS conferences to keep on winning sides.

Conan...I'm well aware of what the scholarship limit has done to college football, and in fact I think you and I talked about before last season and the affect it's going to have on teams... If people don't think what happened to the PAC-10 yesterday can't happen to any conference their crazy. Fresno was just a couple missed FG's away from knocking off Wisky last night. And they took Kansas St. to the woodshed last year. Boise, TCU and BYU have been the real deal for years. They may not be able to withstand the week in and week out punishment of a BCS conference, but they can most definitely knock a BCS team off in any given week. I talked myself right off the New Mexico-Arizona game because I heard NM had an undisclosed neck injury to their QB that affected his passing the week prior in the Texas A&M game. I had NM pegged from the beginning of the week when I said in this thread that I was going to play them as a running dog team getting double digits at home. And NM was definitely the best rushing team last night injured QB and all outrushing Arizona 221-67...And my best bet Maryland got outyardaged overall in their game with CAL 461-297...But Maryland outrushed them 141-38. So Maryland was able to control the flow of the game. Especially in the first half....Here's another thing that many may not think about, New Mexico was in the third game of a home stand. They hadn't yet had to face the rigors of travelling and were in their "comfort zone". Arizona was going out of their comfort zone for the first time this season. I don't think many realize what a huge difference this can make to a team's mindset. I'm not saying it affects all teams the same, but if your like Arizona, who hadn't been tested by anybody to that point, going out on the road with a questionable defense, bad things are liable to happen. But I do know one thing, you NEVER bet these kinds of teams when they're giving double digits on the road until your absolutely sure they can stop another team with a pulse. And their 2 opponents prior Toledo and Idaho didn't have a pulse.

Yes I remember our discusions. I'm glad you brought up Arizona. Had they won yesterday, we'd be hearing all kinds of amazing things about them in spite of them not being tested. Looking back now, I can see where Zona's young defense came up short. Even with a QB who was hurting, NM's ground game still did in the young Cats. A good lesson to remember.

Interesting points about the difference in rushing between teams yesterday and how it affected the outcomes. Even being outgained in every other way (except maybe TO's) the TOP and game flow belonged to the running teams.

Note the difference in the 2nd halves of the Oregon and USC games compared to the 1H's, and how that directly affected the game flow and the outcomes. Both OSU and Purdue were held in their rushing games, especially in the 2H.

Whatever happened to Grigsby, and what about Kieth Herring? It just goes to show how vulnerable the one-dimensional offenses can be, and when a team can stop the run. Perhaps the only exception to that rule might be when a good passing team plays well in the red zone and puts it in.

Conan...I thought Tressell made a huge mistake by not playing QB Pryor the whole game...The QB rotation completely messed up the flow of the game for OSU. When Pryor was in the game he was reeling off 10 yard runs right and left and OSU was keeping up in the rush game. When Boeckman was in the game, USC felt like they could pin their ears back and rush the QB without the worry of the QB scramble. Which is exactly what they did in causing Boeckman to throw INT's.. Getting Pryor more involved wouldn't have changed the outcome. But it would have made USC getting the cover more interesting. I think this kid Pryor is going to be really good. Ya think Tressell don't remember what Vince Young did to his OSU team a few years back? He went out and got himself his own Vince Young. It wouldn't surprise me if he was starting his freshman phenom by the end of the season. He's 6-6 and runs like a gazell. He'll give the Big 10 fits if Tressell would get out of his conservative mode and start playing the kid more.

If OU doesn't make it to the NC game, you might end up playing this OSU team in the Rose Bowl GoSooners. I think you've played enough games in the Fiesta Bowl.

As of now it looks very iffy whether or not another Pac-10 team will be BCS eligible, represented in the top 12 this season. ASU has a long way back into BCS consideration and it would take a near flawless season from here on out (inc. UGA) to get there. Cal is also in the same boat. Oregon has the best shot but Harper is a freshman QB who's passing skills are far from where they need to be. But a lesson from NM this weekend shows that a team that can rush the ball and stop their opponents from running can win a lot of games. Harper adds another dimension to the Ducks running game, not to mention that beast LeGarrette Blount and of course JJ. So the Ducks still have a shot. Aside from that, I think either Missouri or Oklahoma could wind up in the Rose Bowl playing OSU.

From this point on, it would probably do Tressel well to develop Pryor immediately. And, while he's at it rotate in as many young players he can along with his experienced seniors. They say this may be OSU's best team in ages but it's clear that they need someone besides Boeckman to lead them this year and especially into the future.

By the way, I remember Carroll commented to the ESPN reporter before halftime that his coaches should have taken the blame for Pryor's running success in the first half. I remember them harrassing Pryor quite a bit more in the 2H.

BD...I'm working with a friend on these running dogs. And even though we've used them over the last couple of bowl seasons, we've never really integrated this sytem into the regular season. At least I haven't. I know he probably has. So this is a little bit of an experiement for me. But I will be using this system for the full season. It should get better as we go, since we'll have more data on the teams.
