Goodbye Strong, hello Briles?

No way. You don't understand UT football if you think they'd ever hire Art Briles.

Tom Herman would be Texas' first choice if they decide to move on from Strong.

And Herman would take the job in a heartbeat.

Sucks to be a Longhorn these days fellas. Enjoy your teams while they're on the top of the mountain. It's hard to get back on top. I'm a huge Strong fan but I have no faith in him any longer. None. Multiple coaching decisions went bad today. Time for Herman to take a shot at running the program in Austin.

Bedford should be demoted by tomorrow. Charlie will get the pink slip in early December

Ok I'll address the elephant in the room

UT needed to get the minority coach thing out of the way. Soon they can move on, get back on track, and hire the best guy for the job no matter what their color. Charlie S wasn't that guy and we all know it

Well is difficult to know all about the politics in Texas if you don't live there or
never spent some time there,

But one thing I do know for certain is that they print a whopping amount of BS
in the Burnt Orange. I can't believe a word they say. You can keep me informed
please. Every time I read up on the Whorns in a local Texas publication, I get
buried in bullshit.

I wonder why they print so much BS -- is it because they are trying to be politically correct?

Still a very young team, and he walked into a complete knockdown project. I think he has more time, given what I hear from my UT booster colleagues, but we will see.
I've been hearing "but they are a young team" for the last 10 years.

That wasn't the case. They offered Saban, Shaw, Mora, Franklin, D'Antonio, Harbaugh (BAL) before Strong. No one bit. Several of the previously mentioned coaches used it to get better deals for themselves and their staffs. No one bit and Strong was the only one left that would take the job. Briles would have jumped but they never offered it. Man UT would never hire a Baylor coach. I have several folks that mentioned this. Definately wont happen now with all the dust around Briles. They'll go get a coach, probably make a run at D'Antonio and Mora would be my guess. I'll ask my buddy tomorrow when we play golf what his dad is talking about as they were up in Stillwater today and I'm sure that was a pretty rough flight back.
As SDF mentioned, I can see DC Bedford being demoted, my only problem with that is Charlie was supposed to already be hands on with the defense. So is Bedford just a scapegoat for the real problem. Who knows!!

Fire him now and go into a slow 10 year sleep. I feel like it's 1992 and all is well.

The Boxscore stats on that game don't look quite as bad as the scoreboard, but what is up with that pass defense? Mason Rudolph with an epic day throwing for 392 on a whopping 14.0 ypa! The Longhorns, who gave up 47 points to Notre Dame and 50 to California, had an extra week to prepare for the Cowboys. It didn't matter, as the Cowboys rolled up 555 yards and 49 points. Granted those are some good passing offenses, but I have seen more resistance offered from a spaghetti strainer.

There's no such thing as a non-minority coach in Texas. There hasn't been a racial majority in this state since 2002.

This is a no brainer. Fire Strong and offer Tom Herman about $50 million over 6 years. I assume TX would have a few boosters standing in line to write that check.

There will be a feeding frenzy for coaches like Jimbo, Herman, and even a guy like Fedora at UNC. Even a guy like Mike Gundy and I add him only because he does not get along with his AD and biggest booster ( T. Boone) who writes the checks. I could see a guy like that moving to Austin. Unless Strong turns it around he's gone and I'm not sure he can.

I still think it is the "women issues"; Charlie has a hard time staying focused. I'm almost certain he still gets offers (and threats) from Louisville. There are reasons why a guy leaves town after sundown; Strong moved during the heat-of-the-night. I'll never know why Texas didn't take this into consideration before they hired him.
