Merely because a government was democratically elected does not make it a functioning liberal democracy. Liberal democracies don't bombard their neighbors with incessant rocket attacks for the sport of killing a few civilians every now and again. Hitler was democratically elected, but you wouldn't argue that Nazi Germany was a democracy, would you?
As for Ireland, yes, the Catholics were there first. But that aside, there are hundreds of countries where Catholics are welcomed and tolerated. The experience of the Jews over the past 2,000 years has taught them that the only way that their safety can be insured is in a country of their own. You have made it clear that you don't much like them in Britain - and most of them were wiped out from the rest of Europe less than a century ago. Where do you propose that they go?

It would have to be an Island like Cyprus IMO, so that there weren't any assholes along the border of this Jewish state to stir up trouble.
Thing is...they'd eventually lob missiles into Cyprus from Gaza...
