Every week the same guys come on here and say Florida's defense is no good, now the offense is no good, the qb is no good. Isn't it time to finally say the Gators have a damn good football team? Now I hear that FSU is the best team the Gators have faced all year? WTF? Are you kidding me? Do you watch the games?

If you are going to contribute on this board you have to at least try to be objective.

What happened to South Carolina winning outright? Was Spurrier's magic play the lateral which was the Gators recovered at the 1 yard line? The interception return?

if its 21 i might put my car on it! florida is vastly overated!

i would like to hear anyone justify them worthy playing for the nc.

out of all the top ten teams w/ one loss the have the worst loss! usc, lost on the road to a conf. champion. ou, lost at a neutral site to texas, texas tech w/ lose in norman, texas lost at tech, florida lost on their home field vs. ole miss.

they havent played anyone all year! georiga sucks, lsu sucks. what their best win? not saying the noles pull off the upset, but it will be alot better game than many of you idiots think!

FSU will be lucky to get 20 points. Line will probably be around -21.

Major GCG,

There is no way that UF is the best defense that FSU will have faced. UF's defense is shaky and has been covered up by the offensive explosions recently.

I think you underestimate UFs defense. The only team close on FSUs schedule is BC. UF is a lot better than everyone else. Go look at the rankings and see. Not to mention that a lot of the points UF has given up this year have been garbage time points. Hawaii - 7pts, Tennessee - 6pts, UGA - 7pts, Vandy - 7pts (Really should make it all 14pts). Nothing shaky about that defense.

Is it that UGA and LSU suck or that Florida just made them look that bad? Give a little credit for how they are playing. OU and TTU are destroying a lot of teams and I don't hear anyone calling them lucky. And how about looking at improvement? Has anyone played better than UF over the last 6-7 weeks? Simply - no. OU is close but their D has given up over 30ppg in the last 5 games. UF? 10ppg.

yeah! georiga and lsu looked pretty good this weekend...

georiga almost got beat by the worst auburn team in the last 20 years!

lsu should have been beat by troy at home! and those are floridas signature wins..... wow! florida is good but lets not crown just yet! i hate usc but they would dominate florida!

Major GCG,

Those numbers are heavily inflated because teams have had to abandon a dual-threat attack against them. Not only that, but how many legitimately good offenses have they played, only Georgia.

Here is the rank of the offenses (by YPG) that the Florida defense has gone up against.

Hawaii - 77
Miami - 100
Tennessee - 116
Ole Miss - 41
Arkansas - 58
LSU - 39
Kentucky - 102
Georgia - 23
Vanderbilt - 117
South Carolina - 96

Half of their opponents are in the bottom 25 of the country in total offense and none of them are in the top 20. UF's defensive numbers are highly skewed and do not represent the strength of that defense.

If you want to look at a similar example, look at Boise. Boise is currently #2 in the country in points allowed while UF is #4. Are either of these defenses even Top 10? No way.

You can skew the numbers to say whatever I suppose. You can say the same about SoCal, but to sit here and say that UFs defense is marginal and isn't the best FSU will face all year is the epitome of denial or is it delusionole?

Major GCG,

Do not infer I am a homer when I certainly am not nor have I been. FSU is not even the team I root for, I only went there because they paid me a helluva lot of money to go there. I know that you are a UF homer and there are other FSU homers on here but I am not one.

UF's defense is shaky and IMO is not the best that FSU has faced. How is what I am doing skewing the numbers? What I posted was actually the ranks of all the offenses that Florida has faced. Against offenses that are in the top half in the NCAA, Florida has given up over 300 yards per game to all four of those (LSU, UGA, Ole Miss, Arky). And they have played some godawful offensive teams at right moments (Hawaii was in disarray their first game since Graunke was at that time off the team, Miami had a freshman QB, Tennessee has been atrocious all season, Vandy has not put up yards on anyone, and Kentucky and South Carolina have both struggled big time offensively). This UF defense is alright, but nothing great.

Cant argue anything about early play. UF was not playing well until the very end of the Arky game. As for UGA, they rolled up at least 100yds well after the backups were in the game. LSU was throwing all game in order to try to catch up. They ran for 90yds. Same goes for garbage time points. They call it garbage time because the scrubs are in for UF. Hawaii, UGA, Vandy, and more all got late TDs against back ups. You also make no account for improvement.

What I want to know is who is playing better IYO?

BC's defense is better than UF's. At least on the DL, where it really matters.

FSU moved the ball against UF last year, in the Swamp, with Weatherford playing QB. They just had to settle for FG's instead of TD's.

Wouldn't be shocked to see FSU score 20 in this game. The problem is going to be their sieve of a defense that can't stop the option read. UF will break 50 again...
Big difference in Florida's defense from last year, plus FSU looked brutal last week, Gators can name the score.

I think BC's defense matched up with FSU a lot better than UF's does. BC's DT's swallowed the small FSU interior much of the game.
