Play on: White Sox +100 at betonline

White Sox +100

PITCHING MATCHUP: White Sox LH Jose Quintana (2-5, 4.38 ERA) vs. Mariners LH Ariel Miranda (3-2, 4.79)

Quintana did not factor in the decision in his last outing after giving up three runs and five hits over seven innings against San Diego. The 28-year-old has posted a 2.13 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in his last 11 starts versus AL West teams. Quintana is 2-1 with a 3.46 ERA in eight career appearances (seven starts) against the Mariners and has limited Kyle Seager to 2-for-19 hitting but both hits are homers.

Miranda recorded a season-high eight strikeouts in five innings against Toronto but yielded one run and three hits in a no-decision. The 28-year-old has enjoyed success at home, going 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA in 10 career appearances (nine starts) at Safeco Field. Miranda lost to the White Sox in Chicago last season when he gave up three runs and five hits over four innings, serving up a homer to fellow Cuban Jose Abreu.

NBA | Cavs vs Celtics
Play on: OVER 218 -110

501 Cleveland at Boston

In game one the Cavaliers played it's best first half of defense we have seen over the past several months. We expect Boston to make the needed offensive adjustments. Neither Thomas or Irving created anything offensively as both players were taken out of their primary games. Neither team was successful from the perimeter and Boston failed to go to the line. We expect all that to change here as the game will more closely resemble the second half of the previous contest.

MLB | Rangers vs Tigers
Play on: Tigers -133 at 5Dimes

The Texas Rangers (22-20 Overall,6-12 Away) open game one of three, against the Detroit Tigers (20-19 Overall, 11-8 Home).

Texas has been playing lights out as of late, winning nine in a row. Those nine wins came against the Padres, Athletics and Phillies. All three teams have losing records and eight of their last nine wins have came at home.

The Rangers send Nick Martinez (0-2, 5.04 ERA) out tonight against the Tigers. Martinez has not got credit for a win since 2015. Over that span he has started 11 times and has yet to get a victory.

Martinez has faced Detroit three times in his career. Going 1-1 with a 4.82 ERA against them.

Detroit just won a close series against the Orioles, 2-1 and winning yesterday, 6-5. Daniel Norris (2-2, 4.32 ERA) this year looks to add to his win total tonight. In his last start against the Angels, Norris lasted five innings giving up three earned runs, getting a no decision.

Norris has been shaky at times this season, but the Rangers may have forgot what it feels like to win on the road against a team with a winning record. Take Detroit in this free pick.

NHL | Penguins vs Senators
Play on: Senators -104 at 5Dimes

The Ottawa Senators have completely dominated this entire series and ever since Crosby left with the concussion the Pens offense hasn't been the same. The high octane Pittsburgh Penguins have only scored 1 goal per game in this series and you have to give a lot of credit to this suffocating Sens defense but also need to wonder what is wrong with Crosby and that Pens offense.

Look for more of the same tonight as the Sens smell blood in the water and I love them to shut down the Penguins again and win this game to take a huge 3-1 lead in this series.

MLB | Phillies vs Pirates
Play on: Phillies +113 at 5Dimes

Jack's Free Pick Friday: Philadelphia Phillies +113

The Philadelphia Phillies are showing great value as road underdogs to the Pittsburgh Pirates today. The Phillies will be highly motivated to put an end to their current four-game losing streak heading into this series. They have lost seven of their last eight overall as well.

The Phillies have the clear edge on the mound tonight with Jeremy Hellickson, who is 4-1 with a 3.71 ERA and 1.099 WHIP in eight starts this season. Hellickson is 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA and 1.164 WHIP in three career starts against Pittsburgh as well.

Trevor Williams is no more than a fill-in starter for the Pirates. He has gone 1-1 with a 7.87 ERA and 1.625 WHIP in two starts this year. He has already allowed three homers in just eight innings over those two starts.

Half of Philadelphia's 14 wins this season have come with Hellickson on the mound. In fact, the Phillies are 7-1 in his eight starts this season. They have the edge on the mound and at the plate today folks. Bet the Phillies Friday.

MLB | Yankees vs Rays
Play on: Yankees -123 at 5Dimes

Recommendation: Take the New York Yankees (#967)

The Yankees red hot lineup got cooled off by Danny Duffy last night, but I’m not expecting any sort of longer term decline. A squad that leads the majors with 17 games this season in which they’ve produced seven runs or more is live to do it again tonight in Tampa against Rays spot starter Erasmo Ramirez. This is a lineup worthy of support following a loss in which they got shut down completely; 8-2 in their last ten games on the highway.

And the Yanks are catching Tampa in a ‘fat and happy’ spot, returning home off their first winning road trip in nearly a year. The Rays just hit ten home runs in Cleveland in their three game series, now returning home to the Trop where the ball just doesn’t carry as well as it does in most other ballparks. This Rays lineup is not primed to batter Luis Severino and the elite Yankees bullpen behind him.

Severino’s advanced metric stats are truly stellar. His xFIP is sitting at 2.87, nearly a full run lower than his ERA. Severino has an excellent 50% ground ball rate and he’s striking out more than ten batters per nine innings while walking only two. Severino held the Rays to two runs on five hits while striking out 11 batters in a dominant seven inning performance in his lone start against Tampa this year. His numbers this season and for his career clearly show that the best place to back Severino is on the highway, because he just doesn’t allow many home runs in pitcher friendly venues like this one.

Behind Severino, the Yanks rank #2 in MLB in bullpen ERA, suffering only three bullpen losses all year. The Rays bullpen has suffered ten losses already and they rank outside the top half of MLB in bullpen ERA. That’s bad news with Ramirez on the hill, because he’s not going to eat up many innings, lasting only five in his lone previous start this season and coming off a 28 pitch effort out of the bullpen on Sunday. Short road chalk worth laying! Take the Yankees.

MLB | Rockies vs Reds
Play on: Reds -110 at BMaker

Free Pick on Reds -
Cincinnati is coming off a 3-game series in Chicago, where they were they got swept and ended up their road trip on a 6-game losing streak. Now the Reds return home where they have won 6 of their last 7 and I look for them to the opener here against the Rockies.
The offense wasn't the problem in Chicago, as Cincinnati scored 15 runs (5 in each game) and they shouldn't have much trouble keeping the offense going there against Colorado starter Tyler Anderson, who is 2-4 with a 6.43 ERA and 1.476 WHIP in 8 starts overall and 1-2 with a 7.78 ERA and 1.627 WHIP in 4 road starts. Reds counter with Lisalverto Bonilla, who will be making his second start of 2017. He threw 8 solid innings at San Francisco in his first outing and I like his chances here against a Rockies team that is scoring just 3.9 runs/game on the road. Take Cincinnati!

MLB | Rockies vs Reds
Play on: Rockies -102 at BMaker

Taking the Rockies in this game. The Rockies own the second-best record in the National League, while the Reds dropped the final six contests on a seven-game road trip to fall two games below .500. Nolan Arenado hit his 10th home run Thursday and maintained his perfect fielding percentage at the hot corner.

MLB | Angels vs Mets
Play on: Angels +144 at BMaker

Widow's Free Pick: Los Angeles Angels +144

Bets on road underdogs of +125 to +175 (LA Angles) after scoring 10 runs per game, a team with a slugging percentage of .400 or worse in the American League are 28-13 (63.3%, +28 units) over the last five seasons. The Mets can't be trusted to lay this kind of price when they have lost seven in a row coming in. Give me the Angels.

MLB | Angels vs Mets
Play on: Angels +144 at BMaker

The Mets are coming off a winless roadtrip as they dropped all six games and have now lost seven straight overall. A trip home with one of their top pitchers on the mound will put a lot of bettors behind New York tonight but this team is in a bad place right now with injuries and overall ineffectiveness at several positions. The pitching has allowed at least five runs in all seven of those losses, giving up an average of 7.4 rpg while the offense has managed more than four runs only twice. The Mets are 3-13 in their last 16 games against teams with a winning record. The Angels are coming off a successful homestand where they went 5-2 and while they have not been good on the road, they are playing well right now and bring in some good momentum into New York. Jacob deGrom takes the hill for the Mets and while he has been pretty solid, he has been pretty inconsistent. He has a 4.07 ERA and 1.36 WHIP which at this point are both career highs and he has struggled over his last three starts with a 6.35 ERA and 1.71 WHIP. The Mets are 1-5 in his last 6 starts against teams with a winning record. The Angels give the ball to Ricky Nolasco who has been pretty solid this season with just two bad outings in his eight starts. He has allowed three runs or less in six starts and the Mets are hitting just .220 against righties at home. Play (979) Los Angeles Angels

Giants vs. Cardinals
Cardinals -1½ +145 at 5DIMES

MLB 60 DIME GAME

The Giants come in off a hard-fought series against the Dodgers and they did take two of the three games in that series, while the Cardinals just lost both games at home to the Red Sox. This is not a good pitching matchup for the Giants as Matt Moore has a 10.50 ERA on the road, while Wacha has a 2.94 ERA at home, plus Michael is 1-0 with a 1.88 ERA in his four career starts against the Giants. The Cardinals also have a big edge on offense, especially of late as they have averaged 5.20 rpg in their last 10 games, while the Giants have averaged just 3.70 rpg over the same stretch. I look for the Cardinals to get back on track with a solid win in this one. I have the Cardinals winning 6-2
