Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
MEET STATS: 18 - 51 / $118.20 BEST BETS: 1 - 4 / $4.40
Best Bet: JANIE BAY (6th)
Spot Play: CRAZED N LINDY (2nd)
Race 1
(4) DOMINO VOLO went off at 2-1 last time despite missing five weeks of action and made multiple breaks in the mile. This is a sketchy bunch and if he can stay trotting you could get lucky at a much better price. (2) BARNABY RUDGE just missed last time and has finished no worse than second in three career starts. (9) MOULIN ROUGE lit up the tote board a week ago but drew poorly once again and will have many horses to pass.
Race 2
(10) CRAZED N LINDY ran into a tough foe last week and now gets unlucky with post 10. Even from the far outside, driver Peter Kleinhans should be able to leave for position and get the job done at decent odds. (3) PHOTO KING & (2) JACK'S REEF are well drawn inside and figure to be part of the early action, at least.
Race 3
(6) ULSTER kept up okay in his first qualifier for new trainer Kyle Spagnola. This guy has already proven to be one of the fastest in the field and any improvement from the barn change makes him tough. (4) FEISTY LOVE had been racing well at Vernon and now gets a driver and trainer change; worth a shot. (8) SOAPY SAP has all the back class.
Race 4
(3) SOLID QUEEN drops down and adds Campbell for a high percentage barn. (6) MOJARRA HANOVER has done well here in the past and his last effort isn't as bad as it looks. (8) DAYS TO PONDER has some form and could be a price McCarthy in the bike.
Race 5
(6) KEYSTONE THOMAS basically blew away an amateur squad last time. These waters aren't much deeper. If he doesn't win this race is a crapshoot. (1) ES MUCHO came up with a nice effort last time. (4) VEGLIANTINO couldn't get the job done as the heavy chalk last Friday but deserves another shot. (7) CELEBRITY STIMULUS goes from an amateur driver to David Miller.
Race 6
(2) JANIE BAY displayed a hint of late pace which is perhaps a sign that she is ready to find her best form. Harmon trainee has done it here in the past and seems primed for a big mile. (4) WEEKEND GETAWAY ships down in form and owns a win over the track. (8) GAME OF DREAMERS has the speed to win and enters a new barn.
Race 7
(5) RADAR CONTACT stays in the same class but is clearly battling better foes this week. She draws inside those foes and should bring a top effort. (8) ROCK ME GENTLY was used hard versus the best 3-year-old pacing fillies last time and now gets no breaks versus older mares. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she beat her elders. (10) JERSEYLICIOUS was up against it versus TVG competition; this is easier. (7) THAT WOMAN HANOVER qualified very well but got very unlucky drawing into this field.
Race 8
(7) UPFRONT BILLY returned from a five month layoff with a win and has proven himself here in the past. (1) WAITING ON A WOMAN was a sharp winner last week and can't be discounted in this spot. (2) IN NOIME PATRI could leave around #1 and sit a great trip.
Race 9
(5) RIVER RUNS THRU IT was chasing a sharp That Woman Hanover in the morning and runs into a rather soft spot after a few months on the bench. If she is ready she wins. (4) REAL DRAMA has been racing well. (3) PANCAKES isn't a horse I love on the win end but should get into the exotics somewhere.
Race 10
(8) DANISH DURANGO took plenty of air in his first start for the new barn and held his ground well. A smoother trip or step forward should see him right there at the wire. (10) DETROIT RAPPER had everything go his way and did the rest in the stretch to win going away. I had him on top last week and won't press my luck from post 10 again. (2) SHARP EDGE missed some time and raced okay; dangerous.
Race 11
(8) JUNGLE GENIE N scored at first asking in her U.S. debut and who knows how good she is at this point. I'll roll the dice. (2) MARTY PARTY drops down off a second last time; obvious favorite. (10) MAMARIA comes in from Hoosier and we've seen those shippers do well so far.
Race 12
(4) WHATAWORKOUT has ability and took a long time to get back to the races, but he raced very well in his first start in a year last out. A similar effort should mean picture time. (2) NATURAL KEMP qualified okay and now finds himself in a new barn; worth a look. (3) COCOACABANA was parked every step in that last qualifier. The switch to Campbell tonight should help. (6) DOC SIMON'S DREAM went nowhere from post eight in the slop; prior start was a win.
Race 13
(9) FUTURE LIFE worries me because her lifetime mark is on a half and some horses just don't take to the bigger track. That said, this field isn't exactly loaded with accomplished foes and the top choice has 30 wins in 66 starts the last two years. (6) ASSET MANAGEMENT is clearly fast enough and the driver will ensure a decent price. (7) JUST SAYIN raced better with Lasix added. (1) YOU LITTLE RASCAL was used during the mile and came up flat late. With an easier trip she can get a decent piece.
