Meadowlands: Friday 11/27 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

DRF HARNESS

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 18 - 51 / $118.20 BEST BETS: 1 - 4 / $4.40

Best Bet: JANIE BAY (6th)

Spot Play: CRAZED N LINDY (2nd)

Race 1

(4) DOMINO VOLO went off at 2-1 last time despite missing five weeks of action and made multiple breaks in the mile. This is a sketchy bunch and if he can stay trotting you could get lucky at a much better price. (2) BARNABY RUDGE just missed last time and has finished no worse than second in three career starts. (9) MOULIN ROUGE lit up the tote board a week ago but drew poorly once again and will have many horses to pass.

Race 2

(10) CRAZED N LINDY ran into a tough foe last week and now gets unlucky with post 10. Even from the far outside, driver Peter Kleinhans should be able to leave for position and get the job done at decent odds. (3) PHOTO KING & (2) JACK'S REEF are well drawn inside and figure to be part of the early action, at least.

Race 3

(6) ULSTER kept up okay in his first qualifier for new trainer Kyle Spagnola. This guy has already proven to be one of the fastest in the field and any improvement from the barn change makes him tough. (4) FEISTY LOVE had been racing well at Vernon and now gets a driver and trainer change; worth a shot. (8) SOAPY SAP has all the back class.

Race 4

(3) SOLID QUEEN drops down and adds Campbell for a high percentage barn. (6) MOJARRA HANOVER has done well here in the past and his last effort isn't as bad as it looks. (8) DAYS TO PONDER has some form and could be a price McCarthy in the bike.

Race 5

(6) KEYSTONE THOMAS basically blew away an amateur squad last time. These waters aren't much deeper. If he doesn't win this race is a crapshoot. (1) ES MUCHO came up with a nice effort last time. (4) VEGLIANTINO couldn't get the job done as the heavy chalk last Friday but deserves another shot. (7) CELEBRITY STIMULUS goes from an amateur driver to David Miller.

Race 6

(2) JANIE BAY displayed a hint of late pace which is perhaps a sign that she is ready to find her best form. Harmon trainee has done it here in the past and seems primed for a big mile. (4) WEEKEND GETAWAY ships down in form and owns a win over the track. (8) GAME OF DREAMERS has the speed to win and enters a new barn.

Race 7

(5) RADAR CONTACT stays in the same class but is clearly battling better foes this week. She draws inside those foes and should bring a top effort. (8) ROCK ME GENTLY was used hard versus the best 3-year-old pacing fillies last time and now gets no breaks versus older mares. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she beat her elders. (10) JERSEYLICIOUS was up against it versus TVG competition; this is easier. (7) THAT WOMAN HANOVER qualified very well but got very unlucky drawing into this field.

Race 8

(7) UPFRONT BILLY returned from a five month layoff with a win and has proven himself here in the past. (1) WAITING ON A WOMAN was a sharp winner last week and can't be discounted in this spot. (2) IN NOIME PATRI could leave around #1 and sit a great trip.

Race 9

(5) RIVER RUNS THRU IT was chasing a sharp That Woman Hanover in the morning and runs into a rather soft spot after a few months on the bench. If she is ready she wins. (4) REAL DRAMA has been racing well. (3) PANCAKES isn't a horse I love on the win end but should get into the exotics somewhere.

Race 10

(8) DANISH DURANGO took plenty of air in his first start for the new barn and held his ground well. A smoother trip or step forward should see him right there at the wire. (10) DETROIT RAPPER had everything go his way and did the rest in the stretch to win going away. I had him on top last week and won't press my luck from post 10 again. (2) SHARP EDGE missed some time and raced okay; dangerous.

Race 11

(8) JUNGLE GENIE N scored at first asking in her U.S. debut and who knows how good she is at this point. I'll roll the dice. (2) MARTY PARTY drops down off a second last time; obvious favorite. (10) MAMARIA comes in from Hoosier and we've seen those shippers do well so far.

Race 12

(4) WHATAWORKOUT has ability and took a long time to get back to the races, but he raced very well in his first start in a year last out. A similar effort should mean picture time. (2) NATURAL KEMP qualified okay and now finds himself in a new barn; worth a look. (3) COCOACABANA was parked every step in that last qualifier. The switch to Campbell tonight should help. (6) DOC SIMON'S DREAM went nowhere from post eight in the slop; prior start was a win.

Race 13

(9) FUTURE LIFE worries me because her lifetime mark is on a half and some horses just don't take to the bigger track. That said, this field isn't exactly loaded with accomplished foes and the top choice has 30 wins in 66 starts the last two years. (6) ASSET MANAGEMENT is clearly fast enough and the driver will ensure a decent price. (7) JUST SAYIN raced better with Lasix added. (1) YOU LITTLE RASCAL was used during the mile and came up flat late. With an easier trip she can get a decent piece.

Yonkers: Friday 11/27 Analysis
By Brewster Smith

DRF HARNESS

MEET STATS: 235 - 1119 / $1,636.50 BEST BETS: 28 - 94 / $121.70

Best Bet: IMAGE OF FELICIA (11th)

Spot Play: CINAMONY (12th)

Race 1

(2) HUSTLEONHOME Sharp pacer is clearly the speed of the speed; can boss these at odds-on. (6) EVERYMILEAMEMORY Two seconds in a row at Pocono makes her a strong contender in here. (1) THE REAL TONE moves down in class and draws the rail slot; could have a say in the outcome.

Race 2

(3) DOUBLE YOUR BET Gelding might have been used up in the early stages last out; poised to make amends against these. (8) OK GALAHAD made a big move at the three quarter pole to the front but was nailed in deep stretch; post hurts but is very capable. (2) JUST PLAIN LUCK took the pocket route home to glory last time around; watch out again.

Race 3

(4) CHAMPAGNE SHOWER She ran quite well in her most recent outing; seems to be ready to put her best foot forward to get the job done. (2) SENTIMENTAL LADY Pocket-rocket score in her latest puts this gal right in the mix again. (3) MY CAROLINE rallied strongly to nail down the victory last out; big factor.

Race 4

(1) MONTREAL PHIL was sent down the road for all the glory last time around; 11-year-old is in sharp form, so two straight is clearly not out of the question. (3) ZIGGY SKY has wheeled off two victories in a row; threat again. (4) ALWAYS A DIAMOND returns to Yonkers and should find these to his liking; beware.

Race 5

(2) CAMS MACHARENA Pacing miss moves back to the half-mile oval. Was a game second at Philly two trips ago; could make some noise in deep stretch. (4) LYONS SHADOW Two starts back, this gal was sharp in victory; must be considered. (6) IDEAL HELEN gets class relief and that should help her cause; maybe.

Race 6

(8) SELL A BIT N is on fire scoring her third straight victory; has the speed to keep on her winning ways. (3) SKIPPIN BY was in over her head at The Meadowlands last out but these should fit her nicely; threat. (5) REQUEST FOR PAROLE put in a good effort against the top pick last week; watch out.

Race 7

(4) GRACE SEELSTER tired in the stretch drive last time around but this gal surely is the speed of the speed; down the road. (1) ASHOK ACE closed strongly to grab the victory at Pocono last out; seeking the hat trick from the fence; big player. (5) LITTLE MISS HENRY took the pocket route last out for all the glory; not out of this by far.

Race 8

(4) LA FIESTA was facing open foes at Saratoga last time around and ran quite well. Pacing mare can move forward against this group for all the marbles. (2) KAITLYN RAE was nailed for win honors last her last trip; dangerous. (1) PLAYAWAY N moves to the rail slot. With a favorable trip, she could contend in here.

Race 9

(1) ANNUITY Gelding has been very sharp based on his last four tries; very capable of getting the job done. (5) FITZS Z TAM has scored three straight victories; exotics factor. (4) ARI ALLSTAR could have a say if he gets a favorable trip so watch out.

Race 10

(2) TIPTINA Seems this gal is ready to get back on the winning track based on her sharp effort last week; primed to boss these with Brennan at the helm. (5) ROCKAROUND SUE did not race badly in her latest; figures to be right in the mix. (4) MONKEY ON MY WHEEL was caught for win honors last time around; could make some noise against these so beware.

Race 11

(2) IMAGE OF FELICIA Pacing filly was over her head in her latest so the class relief can put this gal right back into the winner's circle. (6) DUNE IN RED moves down the ladder and has tactical speed; big threat. (3) ALL ABOUT KISSES Pocono invader has good early zip and Brennan gets the call; not out of this.

Race 12

(4) CINAMONY leaves the Open ranks and this gal has hit the board 17 of 20 trips this year. She can put it all together against this group. (5) SECRETS OUT N is unbeaten at the Hilltop. The rise in class should not be a problem for her to make some serious again. (6) DELIGHTFUL DRAGON could not handle Open foes last out, but this level should be a perfect fit for her to contend with these.

Friday's six-pack

-- Texas A&M 62, Gonzaga 61-- Had the feel of a March game, not November.

-- Monmouth 70, Notre Dame 68-- Hawks have beaten UCLA, Notre Dame and should contend in MAAC this winter.

-- Dayton 82, Iowa 77-- Loser of Iowa-Notre Dame game today will play in the 7th place game Sunday, which is totally unexpected.

-- Michigan State 99, Boston College 68-- Tom Izzo wins his 500th game.

-- Arizona 75, Santa Clara 73 OT-- Broncos are 0-6; this is a red flag for Arizona.

-- San Diego State 72, Cal 58-- Aztecs outscored Cal 44-22 in second half.

Bonus Play Friday

PELICANS at CLIPPERS 10:35 PM

Take: PELICANS +6.5

I won’t say these are teams going in opposite directions, but at least for the present, they actually are. New Orleans has finally come to life following the disastrous 1-11 open and the Pelicans arrive at Staples for tonight’s duel riding a three-game winning streak.

The Clippers are currently a mess. Lance Stephenson has been horrible. Paul Pierce is finally looking his age. DeAndre Jordan is not producing as he did when he was in his walk year, playing for the contract he now owns. The team appears to have chemistry issues, which really isn’t a surprise based on the track record of a couple of the newcomers. And oh yeah, they’re 3-8 in their last 11 games, including that utter disaster where they blew a massive lead and eventually got run out by the Warriors. I don’t think they’ve recovered yet from that calamity.

As for New Orleans, they still aren’t fielding a complete lineup, and Tyreke Evans is unlikely to play until Saturday night. But they do seem to finally be settling into the system head coach Alvin Gentry wants to utilize. As devastating as the 1-11 start has to be to their playoff hopes, one good winning streak gets them right back into the fray. I see this as a team that’s now trending the right way but they really need this game with a no-rest trip to the Utah altitude on deck.

The Clippers have an impressive roster as far as talent is concerned. But they aren’t showing it right now, and they’ve been an absolutely horrendous spread team at home going well back to roughly last year’s All-Star break. I’m getting enough with New Orleans to make this a playable spot, so I’ll be looking to fly with the Pelicans tonight.
