It has been started yes. South Yorkshire Police have been investigating footage. They say it will take some time to go through. Doubtful any charges but could be possible. The EIHL came out and strongly encouraged players and officials to wear neck protection but said they would not make it mandatory, if that tells you anything.
That if league officials thought it was anything other than a freak incident they’d make it mandatory. The league is also trying to cover itself somewhat for the lawsuits that I’m sure are coming. Just my thought. I think they “investigate” until it goes away and becomes old news. I could be wrong obviously.
Listen to any NHL player talk about the issue. Have yet to hear one person think it was an accident. Not exactly sure how kicking someone in the throat is an accident. If by axccident you mean he intentionally kicked him but maybe didn't want to kill him...sure. But that should be pretty easy to avoid. Even in hockey you only have so many psychos.
