Anybody who thinks this offense 'won't work in the SEC' is wrong. WVU runs a very similar offense...how many points did they run up on UGA? Penn St. & northwestern offenses last year were very similar, and they did just fine in the Big 10.

You need the right players, and Meyer stubbornly tried to make an Alex Smith out of Chris Leak. He's made the right adjustments this year, and he's letting Leak do what he does best...wing it.

As for the inexperienced OL, give me this group over that Senior-laden group last year any day. To me, they already look better. I remember the opener last year Wyoming had 7 sacks or so.

Also, this looks to be the fastest Florida team I've seen in some time.

100%, hit the nail on the head! This O-line is actually pretty stout, well, we'll found out for sure on saturday. But, you are right they do look much much better than last year's group which is something I was harping on before the season even started.

Your last statement is 100% correct! This may be the fastest Florida team EVER!

I'm not ready to call the o-line stout yet. Gotta see it against better competition.

I think people will be in for a surprise with this Gator offense. Meyer isnt stubborn about his system. He has made adjustments. He has said numerous times this is Chris Leak's offense and Chris Leak's input for offensive gameplan. He is the only player that meets with the coaches on Thursdays to discuss offensive gameplan. I think Meyer has tweaked his offense a bit to adjust to SEC play, and I think they will put up 24-27 points on the Vols. Plus, the obvious fact that his system has a track record of doing better year 2.

The defense is what has been great, too. 7 points given up after a turnover and short field to Southern Miss, and a shutout of UCF, both were bowl teams last year. Could have very easily been back to back shutouts.

As for FSU, the writing is allllll over the wall for this team. Clearly, they have major issues on offense. Dont let the FSU homers tell you otherwise. If it weren't for their soft schedule, and catching Miami on an off year, I'd say that is an 8-5 football team with any kind of a tough schedule.

Florida hands down has the best coach in Florida and one if not the best coach in the nation. As everyone is seeing Miami and Florida State are on the downtrend and Florida is rising. Florida is now King of the State. Meyer has just arrived and he is showing signs of greatness as both a coach and recruiter. Florida has a young, hungry, aggressive coach who has an aura of a winner.
I still think Florida needs another year of recruiting at the OL/DL/CB and they will be National Champion material.
This year they have a very good team. Young but talented. I like their skill positions. They have very good RBs, excellent WRs, and a very good QB. They have outstanding LBs. Once Meyer gets his players in, the nation better watch out.

Id bet my house youd trade him to get Spurrier back anyday. This guy will never be a force in the SEC, hes not a good ole boy. Nothing against him, its just not how it works.

I wouldnt. I like young, hungry, fiery coaches like Florida has in Billy Donovan and like they have in Urban Meyer. Spurrier got a little too much of an ego and thought he didnt have to recruit anymore. You cannot get complacent no matter how good you are or think you are. You always have to work hard. Urban Meyer is not someone who will get complacent (at least not for a long. long time). Obviously he still has to prove himself but I feel confident that he will and absolutely love the direction Florida Football is going. Perfect type of coach for me and feel fortunate the Gators grabbed him.

i obviously agree hes a good coach. But in the 90's when Spurrier came to town he was also "young energetic" etc. It just always seems the most successful SEC football coaches are the ones who bring a southern background with them. He came to Florida with basically no personal recruiting base established in the southeast and did very good this past year. Enough winning will establish him enough, i just think he wont last. maybe my own unaware wishful thinking? i dunno
