Mexico put themselves in a position for that call to go to the Netherlands by the coach's actions and their conservative play.......The Mexicans tried to run the clock out after taking the lead so the 2nd half was played on their side of the field where all sorts of things come into play that can happen and they did as the Netherlands kept knocking on the door before getting it done as eventually the tree of El Tri kept getting chopped in the 2nd half before falling.
a travesty call at the end. a black eye on the game and the world cup. The ref better leave the country asap
yup. it wasn't a penalty. ooh well.honestly it was embelished by Robben, hes good to make it look as dramatic as all hell but I didnt think it was as bad as the Ivory Coast on Greek call, I saw enough that it could go either way here and in soccer as we know you dont want to put a ref in that position cause youll end up with some fucked calls. Mexico sealed their fate, their tender played like a complete stud, to stop playing how you got there and not give him any cushion garbage... tryin to guide it home, big mistake. Too much firepower for Holland to let them keep coming in waves and it bit them in the ass.
That call was so bad that ESPN isn't even showing the clearest angle, in the post game highlights. They keep showing the side angle. (ESPN does this all the time in the NBA)
The Canadian channel has shown the clearest angle several times. Robben took a dive, big time. Horrible spot for a make up call.
Tough loss for Mexico.

Here's the video of the play. Skip to the 1:20 mark.

Looks to me like the Mexican player barely steps on the Dutch player's toe and the Dutch player flops.
The Dutch also had a call not be called in the penalty area earlier in the match so I guess this was a makeup. This should not be called at this point in the match though. What a horrible situation.
really? I see Marquez catch the front of his foot and then Robben went down like he was taken down by sniper fire.
