The big rush came when ....

(Nasdaq:DEPO - News) announced today that Carl Pelzel has been promoted to executive vice president and chief operating officer. Mr. Pelzel, a proven biotechnology and pharmaceutical executive, joined Depomed earlier this year with over 28 years of experience in discovery, development and global commercialization of pharmaceutical products. "We are fortunate to have someone of Carl's talent and experience to assist with our transition into a commercial entity," said John W. Fara, Ph.D., chairman, president and chief executive officer of Depomed. "Carl has already assumed leadership of the company's operations to support sales and marketing. He will now work to enhance Depomed's commercial opportunities by rapidly developing products that have high market value. I will continue to build shareholder value through the acquisition and development of new products and technologies that will ensure Depomed is positioned for continued success in the future."

Don't miss out everyone, even you Northern.

Their Pipeline is STRONG with tons of FDA apporvals on the horizon and with already 2 approved by the FDA.

Glumetza will be the biggest thing to hit the diabetes market since insulin was discovered.

Multi-dose delivery in one pill is the way of the future, and they have developed the technology to do it.

This one is headed for high teens in the not so distant future.

Good night all.

Peebs ~ I picked some up at about $5.50. I guess I could have waited a little longer.

I have a couple I just picked up you might want to look at. FSII they are based in Minnesota. I play golf with a couple of the top engineers. Very smart guys with doctorate degrees. They have some new products that could be winners. Time to buy is now, it could double in 12 months. I bought at I think $3.85.

Another one is STXN some upside potential. Brokerage firm of a friend of mine that has a pretty good track record is big on this one.

Another one which is just a dynamite stock which is Minnesota based stock is United Health Care. Look at that companies track record. Check 1,3,5,10 years it is pretty much straight up. Health care prices don't seem to be dropping.

8 dollars by February (if not higher) .. and then mid teens by xmas 2006.

This stock is way undervalued compared to the rest of the biotechs with similar pipelines.

None of mine are setting the world on fire. Stocks aren't a short term thing. Even with the lower price of DEPO not sure if I want to pick up anymore. What are you getting your master's degree in?

Minneapolis is one of the better large cities in the country. Good education, low crime, affordable housing, good health care, low unemployment, if only summer was two months longer and winter two months shorter.

and yes i would agree, I like holding long-term instead of chasing daily and weekly profits.

There are some solid companies in MPLS if you want to stay in the midwest. I am friends with the human resources director at Toro, a couple of other good companies up here to just name a few are Medtronics, 3M, Best Buy and United Health Care to name a few. Good luck with your studies.

Thats great, yah 3M comes up a lot in our class discussions.

I might just stay down here if I can get a work visa (since i am from Toronto) to get some experience with some US firms before heading back home.

Mayve we could talk about it some more or get me in touch with the rigth people!

Just saw it close above $7.00 for the first time since i got involved with this gem. This is fantastic news.

Just wait till the earnings reports start coming back soon. This thing moves on news right now because of only projected earnings.

IMO, anything around the 6.50 mark is still a bargain on this one. Its not going to be a quick flip, but it is definatley a worthwhile LONG investment.

Great product pipeline and technology that will capture a lot of market share from some of the big pharma companies in the coming years.

Northern Star-

Spent my teens in Minny and know the landscape well. Have lots of family there and get there a few times of year. Great place, fantastic people.

Here's one for you guys, UPL, I got in at low 50's. In 18 - 24 months don't be surprised if this is at 120. A friend of mine loves the company and golfs with some of their top guys. They have an earnings call this Wednesday....sorry I'm short on information but I'm not trying to sell anyone here just passing on a "stong buy" from someone who has been doing very well for me the last several years. (I'm just an investor I don't pick 'em myself unless it's sports!)

Cheers,
RS
