Do mind explaining what the "Line Off" part of your handicapping means. I cannot find an earlier post that explains this. Thanks Ace!

When you post a pick please use numbers that are widely available at the time of you're post. WA or widely available lines make it easy for everyone to use the play. Remember this is not a popularity contest but a handicapping forum - lets make it as easy as possible for everyone to participate. If you use free half point outs simply state so. Laying -6 at 7AM then posting a pick at -6 when it is up to -7 or 7.5 by 4PM helps no one. Remember post the number that is widely available for all at the time of you're post. Many outs do not alow free half points off the numbers 3 or 7, please advise if you are doing so and either mention the book or qualify the pick as a free half point from an unknown book, and tell our posters you would rather not mention the book.

Thanks, and best of luck, wil.

Ace.....win or lose love your write-ups........you write

CAN YOU TRUST THE SEAHAWKS' DEFENSE IN CRUNCH TIME? YES......REMEMBER :DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS.......

What do you see that makes you trust this Seattle defense in crunch time?.......seems to me they have a lot of talent on D but they seem to struggle to make the big stop when the game is on the line.........I noticed this against St.Louis (1st gm) Dallas(monday night game) and last week against Atlanta. Like to hear your input on this........
Thanks

wilheim,

I read just about everything in the major sports forum. I have never seen a Mod come in and complain about someone posting a line 1/2 off a number except you. These guys post their plays as a courtesy. Ace is the most popular capper in this forum and has won a lot of people a lot of money. His thread get 20,000 views and 300 replies and NO ONE except you has EVER complained about the lines he posts.

I'm defending Ace because he comes across as a class act who is generously sharing his knowledge with this forum for one reason: to help people. He doesn't need people nitpicking him over petty things that are of zero consequence.

I've followed Ace-Ace all year that he has been on here and I am familiar with Wil as well. They are both gentlemen and can have a discussion without it getting insulting.

Wil, correct me if I am wrong here, but all you are doing is trying to help people who follow Ace-Ace. If Ace posts a line at -6 1/2 it won't have as much value if it goes to -8. I believe you would be all right with Ace posting his -6 1/2 if he also gives his opinion on the line after it goes to -8. Am I correct in this? Wil didn't try to bust Ace's chops. He just asked for clarification.

On the other side, I don't believe Ace needs ghosts to boost his total views. When someone posts 70% winners they gather a following without the ghosts.

Cracker - you have completely missed the point. I am not complaining about or to ace read my post. I was simply offering some advice. I advised ace (for the 2nd time actually) to try and use widely available lines, the Seattle total was an example only as in Eg. I have the posters welfare at heart, I just want them to have the best possible chance to get a good number. There is no complaint in the post below. I mention cred and ghosts but never imply ace has no credibility or uses ghosts. Imo to gain credibility as a handicapper you keep it simple and make it as easy as possible for someone to make a bet you recommend. The ghost thing speaks for itself, I said IF you have ghosts then keep them to a minimum. Plenty of posters have friends who post in their threads I never accuse him or complain that he is using ghosts. I have recieved several e-mails about Ace I won't go into the content except to say widely available was mentioned. There is no complaint anywhere, for some reason you are trying to invent one. Re read the post below. I did look at the live lines at that exact minute and only Bodog offerred 52 at that time. If you have any ghosts means exactly that IF not you do it was not an accusation..

"Ace it you want any real cred in this forum keep your lines widely available (eg. I don't see any 52 on the Seattle game on live lines save Bodog) and keep the ghosts (if you have any) to a minimum."

Good luck, wilhem

OK....let me address a couple of things...just because I recently registered doesn't mean I haven't been watching and reading for quite some time. I imagine that I will be around here as long as I care to be around here. Even if I'm somehow stopped from posting, I'll still read as long as I care to read and I'm not sure how you plan to moderate that. I've been reading a number of different threads with a lot of foul language and personal attacks directed at other members for no apparent reason and I have yet to see you make a post requesting those involved to cease. I posted in this thread because I thought it was rediculous what you posted and I still do. Not one single person has made a complaint related to your post. I find it incredible how many people like and respect ace and to insinuate that he is somehow making the majority of these congradulatory posts is preposterous and only makes you that less credible. It's not Ace's job to make sure every line is accurate in every post at every moment. I frankly appreciate just knowing where he stands on certain games and then I'll make a judgement as to how far off the current line I am willing to go. Look what you've started. There was no contreversy in this thread until you decided you needed to be heard from. To top it off, even though you probably won't admit it, you used the excuse "I'd like to check it out from a moderator's standpoint", to get the other web address to check up on ace's explanation of the possible high number of new registered users. The only reason I am even here is because someone at another website I belong to spoke of the success ace ace was having here. You needn't worry yourself with ace ghosts. There are many other pressing matters with regard to this site. That's just my opinion. I apologize for saying what I said in the earlier post because I know it offended you. I should not have said that, but frankly, I was offended for ace by your insinuations about a guy who has shown nothing but integrity and class here.

Hey Ace , I have been a lurker in the forum for a lil while and wondered if you had any early opinions on whom you think will be in the NFC/AFC Championships and the SuperBowl. It just seems to easy for it to be Pitt or NE against Philly and wondered how you felt. Any and all info/responses would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ,
