lamjones,

"I am from the N.E. area, and have been a PATS fan my whole life."

He's a homer for the Patriots. That's why he thinks they won't lose.

And where is the "local" information? There is none whatsoever.

Figured what out Lou?

There is no way to predict a superbowl winner by using criteria from the regular season, period.

All you've found is some patterns that past winners all had in common and they mean nothing as far as predicitng future winners.

Thats not to say Tenn won't win it all, but it wont be because of your black box.

lamjones, thanks for the support.

Big Lou, who said that he Pats have already played their best football? Is this an opinion? Seems like a very presumptious statement.
And I agree w/ Pancho...why do you keep changing the criteria to your theory?

Also, I stated in the opening thread that I wasn't starting this thread to make a prediction, just stating some facts in fabor of the Pats. I haven't seen one stat or fact that you have supplied favoring the Titans????

When he says played their best football, he must mean regular season only.

If thats the case, I showed many instances where past super bowl winners played their best football in the last quarter of the season.

As a matter of fact this is what most of the winners of the super bowl do, play their best in December.

Lou, so everone from the N.E area is a Homer if they like the Pats? If that were the case for Muffin, why did he take he time to make all his points for a Pats win? Great points I might add.
Why do you like Tenn. by the way?

Big Lou,
I am definitely not a "homer" for this team. I have bet the Pats once ALL year long. I have a rule not t o bet the Pats, b/c most of the time it would be a "homer" pick, but I have made plenty of valid points above to back-up a Pats win and cover for any capper.
And as far as the "local" info, I simply read some shit in my local newspaper, which 90% of the cappers on this sight don't have prevy to. I never quoted "local" info. It is certainly not "inside" info, if that is what youare implying that I meant. You goof

muffinman,

I haven't changed by criteria one bit. No one has been able to figure it out yet.

The Titans getting 6 points here is a gift. This is the fourth divisional round appearance in the past five seasons for Tennessee. They have gone 2-1 with their only loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Ravens in 2000. They're getting 6 points from a team making their second divisional round appearance in the past 5 seasons, the other being in 2001, when they "barely" squeaked out a win against the Raiders. (This coming from a guy who bet on them in that game and to win SU against the Steelers and the Rams).

Big Lou,

You don't think the week off(for the Pats) vs. the 4 qt battle(last week @ Balt.) is an advantage for the Pats?

You don't think the cold weather records: (below 35 degrees)
Pats 14-2
Tenny 3-3
is an advantage for the Pats?

You don't think the Pats 8-0 su & ats (this season) holds any water in their favor?

You don't think Belichick and his staff w/ 2 weeks of preparation has an advantage over Fisher and his staff w/ 5 days?

You don't think that when these two teams played each other 12 weeks ago the Pat's Injury Report had 25 guys on it and Tenn's had 2, and now the Pats is blank and Tenny. is filled (w/ their key players)...doesn't this favor the Pats?

If you don't agree with any of the above points, then be my guest and keep thinking Tenny +6 is a gift from the gambling God's.

FYI Vegas doesn't give gifts....especially in the NFL playoffs.

Pancho,

"As a matter of fact this is what most of the winners of the super bowl do, play their best in December."

2002 Buccaneers
1999 Rams
1998 Broncos
1997 Broncos
1995 Cowboys
1994 49'ers
1992 Cowboys
1991 Redskins
1990 Giants
1988 49'ers
1987 Redskins
1985 Bears

All lost in December. Someimes a loss late in the year is a good thing. It reminds everyone what they don't want to experience come playoff time.

I really can't wait for this game!

Thanks muffinman for your observations so far; a bigger factor even than the cold as we should all know is the wind. Twelve plus and more in miles per hour and things start to change pretty quickly in the passing game, the longer the throw the more flight variance.(duh!)
Now for the other discussion. They are not playing this game in 1987, '89, '91, '93, '98 or 2001. Not to negate history but that is all that it is. I'm sorry Big Lou but I have to tell you that they are playing this game on Sat. January 10, 2004. I don't know about the six points but I have the Patriots winning this game straight up. Money line bets on the Titans this game will not cash.
Good luck for the rest of time.

muffinman,

The answer is "no" to every question you just asked.

Be prepared to be shocked. But remember, you heard it here first.

Here is what I posted in my own thread.

Titans +6 @ Patriots (2 units)
Titans ML +240 (2 units)

Special teams should play a prominent role Saturday night as severe cold weather is in the forecast. Titans have the edge in this department.

Tennessee punter Craig Hentrich followed up a great regular season with a solid outing last week, averaging 44.7 yards per punt against the Ravens. He is no stranger to kicking in cold weather either as he was Green Bay's punter from 1994-1997.

PK Gary Anderson has been solid as well, hitting 22 of 26 from 30 yards on out and kicked a game winning 46 yard FG with :29 left to defeat the Ravens 20-17.

New England P Ken Walter finished second to last in the AFC in punting average and was actually replaced for a few weeks before being brought back. Usually reliable kicker Adam Vinatieri has had problems this year as well, going 9 of 17 from 30 yards on out.

I believe history plays a huge part in the playoffs and anyone that has followed me the past few years knows I use playoff systems to handicap football. This week there are a total of four playoff systems going against the Patriots in this situation. Any time I have a team in the Divisional Round with three or more "play against" systems going against them I fade them. Tennessee +6 and on the ML.

I have read all this shit about teams peaking...what you guys don't realize that the Pats haven't reached their peak, their offense is just starting to peak.

They are just starting to seperate themselves from the rest of the NFL.

i know this team inside and out..14-2 is just a taste...now you will see complete domination by this team...It will be the Pats version of shock and awe.....mark my words!
