It isn't politics. Young kids don't buy cable or satellite. Netflix etc. provides everything they need. ESPN thought the glory days would last forever. Like newspapers, cable and satellite will become obsolete. They goy too big for their own good. I'm sure Fox News is losing subscribers as well.
Bro.. your WRONG.. it's a combo of Both! But mostly polotics.. 90% of espn was straight guys.. and we're tired of being bashed and hated.. soooooooWe turn the channel.. fkng idiots

Except, the majority if the people that voted in the last presidential election voted for the liberal candidate.Politics has ZERO to do with ESPN's loss of subscribers. ZERO.

Politics has zero to do with the loss of subscribers? Your head is very deep in the sand buddy. It's a fact of life most sports fans are conservative males who turn in nightly to watch sports not racist Jamelle Hill and Michael Smith. And sports fans sure don't want to see a transgender person be put on the same pedestal as Rosa Parks. If you think Clapper and Iger's business model isn't having an effect on their company in a very negative way, you are very misinformed.

...When you type it in all caps it makes it true......From the ESPN Ombudsman:...As it turns out, ESPN is far from immune from the political fever that has afflicted so much of the country over the past year. Internally, there’s a feeling among many staffers — both liberal and conservative — that the company’s perceived move leftward has had a stifling effect on discourse inside the company and has affected its public-facing products. Consumers have sensed that same leftward movement, alienating some

Wtf does that mean?? Literally that is the most retarded statement ever made at the RX... Given that the other 70 million that voted were conservative, and the remainder that didn't vote 180 million... more than half of them can watch TV and are conservative.. so that's a total of 150-160 mil. Potential viewers..

ha ha someone here attributes ESPN massive declines in revenue, subscription, and viewership to children watching Netflix?

Well, sure as hell can't be the three X black jocks with a white female rambling like ninth graders. Good lord, ESPN is DEAD unless watching a ball game.

The heads of the ESPN network are blind.....and they AIN'T going to be around long.

ESPN is set to begin its latest round of layoffs, with Sports Illustrated's Richard Deitsch reporting via Facebook that employees could be informed starting Wednesday. Some of them could be "significant on-air names," he says.

The job cuts, which will come from the network's sizable stable of on-air and online talent, have long been expected as ESPN looks to pare expenses in the wake of mounting subscriber losses and rising rights fees. Over the past five years, the network has lost somewhere around 12 million subscribers while shelling out billions for the right to televise leagues such as the NFL and NBA. It will be ESPN's second round of layoffs in less than two years: In October 2015, ESPN laid off around 300 people who worked behind the scenes.

'Bloodbath' in Bristol: ESPN could cut 70 people

The Worldwide Leader in Sports could cut around 70 TV/radio anchors, reporters, analysts and online writers over coming days and weeks, sources said.

That would be worse than the 40 to 50 on-air talents predicted by ESPN book author James Andrew Miller during a podcast with Richard Deitsch of Sports Illustrated.

The higher numbers may reflect the inclusion of online writers like respected Titans beat reporter Paul Kuharsky who tweeted Monday his contract is not being renewed.

"This could be a bloodbath," warned one source.

ESPN's corporate campus was "eerily silent" Tuesday, said another source, as staffers anxiously waited to see who'll survive what management is euphemistically describing as a "right-sizing."

Wow, ESPN laid off Ed Werder effective immediately.

Of course Jamelle Hill, Michelle Beadle and the rest of the left wing circus are untouchable.

does "right-sizing" mean that anyone who does not lean towards the "left" will be fired? that would be in line with their general policy.

ESPN to lay off about 100 employees today, including on-air talent

It’s a dark day at ESPN.

The sports broadcasting network sent a memo to employees early Wednesday, informing them that a series of previously announced layoffs would take place today. Familiar faces like Ed Werder, Brett McMurphy and Jim Bowden are among those who have been let go.

The total number of employees cut will be around 100, Fox News has learned.

The memo, from ESPN President John Skipper, noted that the network’s new talent lineup will be announced soon.

“Dynamic change demands an increased focus on versatility and value, and as a result, we have been engaged in the challenging process of determining the talent—anchors, analysts, reporters, writers and those who handle play-by-play—necessary to meet those demands,” Skipper wrote to employees. “We will implement changes in our talent lineup this week. A limited number of other positions will also be affected and a handful of new jobs will be posted to fill various needs.

“These decisions impact talented people who have done great work for our company. I would like to thank all of them for their efforts and their many contributions to ESPN.”

Fox News has learned that ESPN employees were being informed of the cuts early Wednesday. A source with knowlege of the situation told Fox News that despite buzz that the planned number of layoffs has grown in recent weeks, the gameplan was always to cut around 100 people.

ESPN also outlined the network’s new strategy in a post on its media website published Wednesday. The company is placing an increased focused on its ESPN App with a “multi-screen approach around big events.”

“On the horizon is more live news video and enhanced video and audio streaming,” the release stated.

ESPN also plans to bolster its online presence.

“Our goal continues to be to maximize our unparalleled scale in every medium with storytelling that stands out and makes a difference. We are well-equipped to thrive going forward by embracing these themes."

They may have lost some viewers cause of a liberal slant but I would think it's because they suck. The morning shows are terrible and they focus mainly on the East Coast teams and maybe a couple big cities west. Also I'm a die hard sports fan.. if I want to watch baseball highlights I'll go to MLB network.. Hockey highlights I'll go to NHL network. I don't need to hear one of their woman personalities give an.opinion on my team. I can get better sports broadcast on sirrius radio. So in conclusion ESPNs daily programs and content suck and I can go elsewhere for.better coverage
