Serious question,

Was ESPN ever that good besides sports? Yeah, it is more political now but the network was never filled with rocket scientists. Olbermann/Patrick/Kilborn were doing the dorky comedy routine when covering sports 20 years ago. It just got cold.

Go watch an episode of "The Sports Reporters" on YouTube, it is just all platitudes and cliches, no analysis. Old Jim Rome show, Around the Horn, PTI etc

I can't think of one non-sports show on ESPN that if it cameback and was on now that I would watch.

Besides maybe "Playmakers", that shit was funny as hell.

That trivia show was good. Remember the guy that was unbeatable?

The Schwab?

I could take him, 1 time out of 10 I'd get him as long as the questions were rigged to just be limited to NBA, NFL and boxing. Anything else I'd be cooked.

I believe he did lose a few times, not often but a few.

Obviously "Up Close" when Rome was antagonizing the shit out of Jim Everett was a great moment in ESPN history

I do remember watching that UNLV team roll through everyone before they got beat by Duke. ESPN showed them every week.

They didn't get beat by Duke...NCAA and the refs took it from them.. worst refereed game in sports history..

I don't turn the TV to a sports station (or go to a sports web site) to listen/read leftist political bullshit, it pisses
me off - and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I used to love Sportscenter, they talked sports and gave scores and were funny

I can't even watch NFL Gameday anymore, I see the lying Chris Mortensen who allowed himself to be used as a tool by Roger Goodall

I just see them as pawns nowadays

Yeah way back when there was no other way to get highlights it was good.

But I think since NFL network started I've gravitated towards that. Probably because it was around when the Spygate happened and ESPN wasn't tolerable for that.

If they still have Dion & Irvine talking jive or whatever they call it , you can have that network too

Exactamundo.

And this is what makes some sportscasters inherently bad. If you know their political leanings, they are not doing their fucking jobs!

For example, at this point, how could anyone who isn't a flaming liberal take anything Keith Olbermann says seriously?

Oh well, here's to more shitty ratings for any sports channel or sports broadcast that mixes sports and politics.

as a former subscriber to insider for over a decade before i stopped re-subscribing about two years ago, here are my gripes with them.

1. their site sucks ass. slow to load with the built in video ads, and takes way too long to just get to the scoreboard or to get to sports home pages. this is using basic chrome on my phone or my laptop. and tbh, it's 2016 so webpages shouldn't load like im on fucking aol in the 1990s. cbs sports has become my go to for scoreboard.

2. bill simmons left, enough said.

3. sending me their bullshit espn magazine full of articles i already read 2 weeks ago. it goes straight from my mailbox to the trash.

4. i love true hoop esp first cup summaries and draft insider but the website functionality alone really just serves as a huge barrier to attempt to access all their content. i work 80 hrs a week i dont have time to waste on such bullshit.

so yea overall i think the website design alone just killed it for me.

You make no sense. This has nothing to do with anything. You're just lost again

It makes complete sense. Your lack of critical thinking ability and your willingness to show an entire forum how dumb you are every day is hilarious.
