El Paso Texas Walmart Under Attack

The Dayton murderer was suspended when in high school for putting together a "hit list" and a "rape list". This dude was obviously sick, he's the type of person that should NOT legally own a gun.

The El Paso murderer made threatening and hate-filled and racists posts on social media. This dude was obviously sick, he's the type of person that should NOT legally own a gun.

Although I've talked about buying a gun, I still don't own one. My two close friends that own multiple guns are responsible owners. They use gun safes, they shoot on gun ranges or when hunting, when they're carrying (legally) they tell us. One of them tells us he won't carry around us if we're uncomfortable with it. These are the people that represent the OVERWHELMINGLY VAST MAJORITY OF GUN OWNERS, and their guns should never be taken from them.

We need practical and real solutions, not superficial political bullshit.

Ive owned guns for over 20 years, and Ive never once even thought about randomly shooting people. Has to be something really wrong with them to even consider, much less carry out such an act.

Society is just too adversarial now. Everything is us vs them, fuck them, it isn't even just politics, people are divided by race, gender, religion. Then you throw in social media, news media....Even the toy section, sports is covered like a joke. .01% of the population just mentally breaking from all of these problems.

Also, people won't wanna hear this but if you have no stakes in the game (i.e insulated from most of the problems) then people kinda like it. Politics has become another sports team to root for. Look no further than the score keeping about who is doing the shootings.

I really don't see it getting much better. Actually, I see it getting worse as institutions continue to fail.

I haven't read this entire thread because it's a lot of nonsense but those that are saying guns aren't the problem do you think legal and responsible gun owners carrying their guns would help the issue? And if so...

1) Because they would be able to protect and take down a gunman in a scenario like this one?
2) Or people would think twice about a mass shooting as someone would shoot them.

I'm not saying I know the answer (I don't but something has to change) but do know if I were a police officer responding and there were multiple people shooting at each other I wouldn't know what do to or who is the active shooter necessarily. I am all for people having the right to own guns, assault rifles I question the need for but also if the criminals are the only ones that have them, I see a problem there. I own about 40 nerf guns, that's it in my house and since I don't hunt, I have never been in a situation where I have needed one either.
