I guess the best way to look at it is let's say you start your own business from scratch and build it up to become very successful

And then later some of your employees demand that they make as much as you do

I don't think I really have to explain the rest lol
Employers have to pay employees

The players make nowhere near what the owners make

People get mad at salaries but I hardly hear a peep when these billionaires buy these franchises---demand hundreds of millions of dollars from tax payers to build their arenas and then have the club go up 1000 percent in 5-10 years.
Patently untrue

And that's how it's supposed to be

That's why people bust their ass to start their own business so they don't have to work for anyone else and have people work for them instead
I hear what your saying, but nearly two-thirds of the owners in the NFL never worked for anything and inherited their fortunes.

By the way, I was also saying get rid of Lamar a couple seasons ago... He was " sell high" then. The ravens could have got valuable things for him and let someone else deal with this

This stuff is so easy.... if you get a running black qb; you do the rookie deal and move on

same with bryce young this year. take him with the understanding that this is a 4-5 year thing and then move him or if he has a fantastiv mvp year or close; move him. He is not your srarting qb at 32.

But then you’re probably going to suck, there are very few teams in the nfl that win without atleast a top 10ish level QB. The 9ers really been the only one for any length these days. And that’s with saving money at the position. Those teams just never sustain anything.

You make it sound like you draft Richardson and he’ll just follow the Cam/Lamar/hurts trajectory. What if he just blows? Tons of 1st rd pick QBs suck. There’s like 10 QBs at a given time that are good.

That’s why someone like Hurts gets what he gets, scarcity. Then you factor in cap maneuvering and it isn’t really as much as sticker price anyway.

Change Hurts to Murray, Lamar and Dak a couple years ago or Daniel Jones just recently....same argument.

The reality is, franchises with middle of the road QBs never come close.

So yeah, throwing stupid money at mediocrity is just...stupid.

Everyone should trade for Mahomes probably

That’s a strategy no one is really considering, have him play for multiple teams

He's the best right now no doubt

But he also has a guy named Andy Reid to his advantage that guys like Burrow and Josh Allen don't have

The point is not every team can pay the best players, they have to take risks. I would think there wouldn’t be so much risk aversion on a gambling board but I digress.

Well not only that, there's only a limited amount of good players to go around

That's the reason the Giants paid Daniel Jones what they did there's really nothing else out there

I guess the thing with the Eagles is they didn't have to throw all that money at Hurts just yet

Anyone could see that he was just running behind a convoy clearing the way that we could have ran behind

Disagree, think you replace hurts and you can pretty easily become like the other 20 teams very quickly.

If their offense was so great w/o him then they wouldn’t have got shutdown by the Saints at home probably. What they score like 9pts in that game? I don’t even remember

Burrow is completely different

A smart white pocket passer that will play until 38-41. Why does color matter? Black qb's don't play into their 30's.

Burrow you back the Brinks truck up. Completely different. This is why the Bengals need to strike now while they still have their 2 best players on rookie contracts.
I'll go on record stating signing Burrow to even crazier money will prove equally as dumb.

Eagles just paid a QB that ended up sucking a mere 5 years ago after the '17 season, we were told this would set them back 7 years. By 2021 they were back in the playoffs, '22 in the superbowl. These deals are short and not all that onerous long-term. The sticker price just gets people.

If you could not pay QB XYZ and instead pluck the best non-QB guys off the other teams and pay them, the best position players in the league then I think passing on paying them would make more sense. But you're just gonna end up having to overpay free agents who are free agents for a reason, maybe you had a really good draft and can pay some of those guys but that means you have to have guys coming up for deals at that exact time. You don't get TJ Watt and Micah Parsons instead of the QB, you get Nelson Agholor, Jonnu Smith, Hunter Henry.

Hurts has star written on him. Daniel Jones is garbage. Now that is a guy u could have let walk.

Maybe the eagles should have let Hurts walk and bring back Wentz for 17 million since ANYONE can run that offense. ;)

I've heard the whole "You can put any QB into that system thing" before somewhere, can't quite place it though. Love me some system QB's.

I do think good chances Eagles regress next year, their schedule is gonna be way tougher and they got a lot of old guys that could get hurt. But it beats trading him and trying to roll the dice in the draft on some QB that probably sucks. Hurts himself sucked his rookie year, most QB's do. You ain't gonna be a top 3 odds fav in the NFC if you do that, tell you that much.

NFL QB position is interchangeable, until you get to the very top.

A #8 QB is not going to net you significantly more wins than a #18 QB. The Eagles would have been better off using that 50m+ elsewhere.

Even their backup Minshew threw for 663+ yards for a couple games while Jalen was hurt.

Coaching/team system has bigger impact.

You love you some systems, no doubt

who is that 18th best QB that you like their chances to win next year? Sounds easy enough
