Liverpool will travel to Upton Park on Saturday as they take on West Ham. Liverpool are a team who are close to reaching their top form this season. Their last outing in the EPL they defeated newly promoted Burnley 4-0 with Benayoun picking up a hat-trick. They absolutely dominated that game and almost scared Burnley out of their boots. The Champions League result midweek has people thinking that the Reds aren’t playing too well at the moment as they beat Debrecen from Hungary 1-0 at Anfield. But let this result steer you. Liverpool dominated that game too and missed tons of chances to score. My bet is Rafa added a shooting session after training this week! Torres just announced that he think Liverpool can win the title and he will help them get there. Look for him to try and back it up in this game. Gerrard has insisted that there is “more to come” from Liverpool and states that believes that they are clicking. Liverpool has scored thirteen and conceded seven in their last five premiership games.
West Ham United has scored one goal in their last three matches. In fact, the last three matches against Liverpool, West Ham have failed to score in all. They have one point from their last three matches as they lie in the bottom half of the table. They have beaten Liverpool once at home in the last seven matches. These teams met twice last season and the results were a 0-0 draw and a 3-0 thrashing for Liverpool. I expect Liverpool to show their form on Saturday with a 2-0 win over West Ham.
Sunderland will travel to Burnley this weekend. Sunderland have had a somewhat positive start to the season with nine points from five games. The Black Cats are coming off a 4-1 impressive victory over Hull City last weekend. Sunderland is an overall better squad than Burnley and it’s worth noting that Sunderland has not lost to Burnley in their last seven matches and you have to go back to 1973 for their last victory over the Black Cats. To keep it going with these interesting statistics, the two away matches Sunderland has played in this season have both gone under the total. Also, Burnley has not conceded a goal at home in seven games. I think the bookmakers missed this as the line is at 2.5. Let’s go with Sunderland PK as they win 1-0/2-0, covering the spread and staying UNDER the total.
Good luck bettors!
