Jake,
Duke is a bunch of overacchieving babies. They win because they get the benefit of every advantage. Shit Coach K lobbies the officials like he was looking for campaign contributions from big tobacco. Ive never heard a Duke fan whine because they thought they were screwed by the refs. Ask yourself why.

Maybe prima donnas is the wrong word, but they EXPECTED Indiana to quit and they went into cruise mode which is what got them beat.

Look, I do NOT hate Duke, I play them as often as I play against them, but what seperates me from most in regards to Duke is that I am NOT afraid to play against them when the overwhelming sentiment is on them. I have now hit 12 of the last 13 games that I have played involving them ATS. The bottom line is that they lost the game SU as a 13 point favorite and there are people saying they were screwed by the officiating who didn't even watch the entire game and it was there for Duke to win and they DID NOT do it period.

They missed a FT to tie AND a chippy off the rebound and would not have even been in THAT position if not for a BONEHEAD play by Fife.

It should never have come down to that either. /infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Despite their success, Duke is consistently the biggest bunch of underachievers in the history of college basketball.....

When UCLA used to have the kind of talent that Duke has now, they won 10 National Championships.

Duke, on the other hand, can more often than not be counted on to CHOKE!!!!!!!!!

How much did you bet on the -800 Duke $Line? Which of your 2-day long theories did that bet fall under? You watched the last 10 minutes--pleeeaaase! Mary is/was better than Duke as are Kansas, Okla and OregonSt.

Cincyfred, what are you talking about man? Comparing Duke to UCLA of John Wooden days and saying Duke is a bunch of underachievers? Get it right man, time has changed - game's developed, players are better now. If the same Duke team was playing back in John Wooden days, it's over.

Banke: Coach K is a great coach, and any team would want a coach that could affect the officials. Don't hate him because he is great at what he does. Duke wasn't as great as last year but they were still a talented team and made things happen for themselves, they didn't fall blindly into them.

BOOKIE: They missed shots at the end but if the correct calls had been made earlier they probably wouldn't have been in a position where those shots would kill them.

Cincyfred: Duke is always a top team. They do not always have the best recruiting class. They have a great coach and play hard. Duke also wins championships as much as anyone else lately. I don't think you can call the program underachieving. Maybe this year's squad thanks to getting ripped off, but definately not the program.

tenancious g: Williams is a man among boys and a sure #1 pick in the NBA draft. He is the best player in college basketball, and even though Stevie Wonder could shoot a better percentage from the free throw line, he makes it up with being great at just about everything else basketball related.

olddog: Oregon St. didn't make the tourney. Assuming you were talking about Oregon, no shot in hell. You can make strong cases for Kansas and Maryland, but Oklahoma and Oregon would have alot of trouble getting past the Dukies. Oregon would have no shot in my oppinion.

Duke lost because of two glaring weekness' they have had all year, Rebounding & FT shooting. They were murdered on the boards tonight and couldn't make the clutch FT when it counted. Sorta reminds me of the Virginia 3-4 weeks back. Up big and fold the tent because they couldn't rebound or make a FT.....The teams that win it get great guard play, rebound & play solid defense(not giving up 18 off rebs).....3 simple ingredients to championship, of course this is aside from coaching which is a given.......FM

Jake,

Coach K is a great coach...easily a hall of fame coach no argument. Indiana however looked better coached tonight. I just do not agree with lobbying the officials like he is understood to do. There is no place for having the officials in your pocket psychologically in college basketball. Often times Duke has the game won before taking the court. I hope to live to see this Duke mystique end .

the only reason Jason Williams would be considered a man among boys in college hoops is because most players any good leave for the nba early. Say what you want, but Williams is very overrated in my book. Watch how careless he plays when his team has a big lead. He's the reason they lost. He's not a clutch player. He'll suck in the NBA! He'll get paid, but he'll suck.

There are valid arguments about Duke being overrated and Duke deserving to lose (even though I choose to go the other way on them) but to say Jason Williams is overrated because most players leave for the NBA is dumb. He was great as a sophmore and great this year and he is only a junior. He is about as sure-fire for the NBA as one can get. You'll eat your words eventually.

Guys and Gals,
Bookiebuster is RIGHT, we should give credit to that SHIT TEAM from Indiana since they DID WIN even though they are SHIT!!!! The same Indiana team that lost to the Wisconsin Badgers I believe twice or was it three times this year. Duke played with their heads in their ass or they blow these fags out by 40. The game was a travesty but none the less Indiana won so they deserve the credit along with 2 blind F'n Zebras...I know line opened at Duke -11 and rose to Duke -13.5 so obviously you were going to F Duke but did you have to set it up for them to lose. Oh thats right, they were the HEAVY TOURNMAENT BETTING FAVORITE to tear down the nets on April 1st so you got them early, nice one.....

The Indiana/Duke game just gave Senator John Mccain of Arizona more fodder on his claim that becauseof gambling the fix has hit the college level....

Regards,
Bernie

P.S. Call it sour grapes or what, I STILL WON LAST NIGHT even with this robbery...

Called it from the beginning that this game was going to come down to the wire. When Notre Dame gave Duke a scare, Knew that Indiana was going to do the same. Duke hardly covered any lines this year and when Williams went to the line, it was great when he missed. They deserved to lose, and their were bad calls on both sides in the entire game.

I love it...!!!

All these Duke fans now feel what It is like when you dont get the calls and lose. The FIRST TIME I can ever recall watching a Duke game and seeing them come up on the short end of the stick from the REFS.

Hey DUKE FANS, deal with it, It happens to EVERY other team except yours ALL THE TIME.

Jerk

I guess I missed that game...

Indiana simply outhustled and outREBOUNDED the DUKE TEAM...

Had nothing to do with the REFS....

Jake Im glad you got some of that stress off your sholders. I lost money on the game. I had a post about how IU could not win the game. BUT THEY DID.
Or maybe Duke lost the game.
Anyway you seeing some call that wasent made aganst IU?????? Well there was just as many aganst Duke that were not called. Over all It was one of the better officiated games (ya spelling sucks)
After all the biggest thing to remember is
"IF THEY CANT COVER THE SPREAD, THEY SHOULD GET BEAT"
Way to go IU.

I think this program by and large has underachieved. Case in point:

1986: Lost to a Louisville team in the Final that had less talent.

1990: Blown out by 30 points by UNLV. I know UNLV was loaded but 30 points??? Come on!!!

1992: Needed a Miracle Shot by Laettner against an inferior Kentucky team just coming off of probation and then beat a bunch of Freshmen in the Championship Game.

1994: Lost to Arkansas.

1998: Blew an 18 point 2nd Half lead to Kentucky.

1999: Lost to underdog UCONN in the Final.

2001: Blew a 17 point lead to outmanned Indiana.

These are just the ones that come to mind. I'm sure there are a lot more examples out there that demonstrate this program's underachieving ways.

Jake,

I wonder if you felt the same way about the championship game last year against Arizona. You seem like a Duke fan to me, but I neither like or dislike them. As far as the game last night, I thought there were some questionable calls on both teams. But last year's championship game was horribly officiated - in favor of Duke. Battier could get a charging foul on some guy coming out of the locker room. Williams tackled Gardner in that game - no call. Just wondering what you though about that game.
