That is because we have idiots running this country. The world should be different. NO question about it. The money that you would be paying($2000+) for court fees and classes for getting caught should instead be contributed to one of your friends for $10 to drop you off and pick you up. We have taxi's also. There are alternatives. But most people do not choose that route because they don't think like that and they think it is acceptable to drink and drive. Because, honestly the law is contradicting itself... we can drive to the bar and get smashed? So how the fuck are you going to get home? It doesn't make ANY sense. and you are making my point for me because wether you like it or not, it is still against the law. The problem is that alcohol is too much apart of our culture. But I can't think of another drug that can ruin an innocent persons life that isn't even doing the drug. Heroine...cocaine...oxy can only ruin your life. But alcohol is totally different. They saw what happened in the 1920's when we had Alcohol illegal for two years only. The power of criminals at that time was uncontrollable. People are going to do what they want to do, that is truly what makes the world go around.

its very sad when something bad happens to a friend or a family member, but please be honest with yourselves...i am pretty confident that most if not all of you in this thread have driven drunk before and probably still do on occasion..I am tired of all the high horse riders coming into contreversial threads and ripping someone for just being honest....

This statement is complete bull crap. ANY drug or addiction to anything affects more than the person with said addiction. It goes for daily life and driving. I too am a proud supporter of Medical Marijuana, but you can't just say, "Smoke some weed and save some lives, dumbass." It doesn't work that way, or make you look any better.
By far & away the farthest from the truth you could get. The Drunk Driver is the one normally not hurt at all, or the one with the least amount of injuries, and normally even walk away.

I mean maybe you will go shoot somebody high on cocaine...but that is intentional. No drunk driver is going to say...I want to kill some somebody tonight.... but guess what? They do all of the time.
