He's shown he can be a good starter in this league before.
many have shown ability for one year ... wentz, tommy maddox, RG3, scott mitchell, rob johnson, case keenum, kordell stewart

wentz has been garbage with the difference that those other guys didn't cost $128M even if you combined their contracts

I agree 100%. My argument.. He is not that. He's got loads of talent and will survive this rough patch in his career to be a good QB again. The above examples did not.

Look, I'm going out on a limb here. I realize not many will agree with me because he looks like garbage right now. I'm not selling the stock. We will see..

I think during Monday's game they showed a stat saying that Wentz's contract is the 4th highest guaranteed in the NFL.

Drafting him isnt setting philly back.
Giving him that guaranteed $$ is

Curious to see what a healthy philly offense would look like. Havent watched them much this year but it was AWFUL watching them monday nite

he is about to be 28, not that 28 is old but when you see talent you like to see it at a younger age. talent at 28 means time is running out and you havnt reached your potential. talent speaks to what people believe you could accomplish but eventually all you ever were was talented. darnold is talented too, but he is only 23. id rather have talent at 23 than at 28....im done on wentz

Just looked at his stats.

He is ONLY in year 5

In 2019, he played 16 games, threw for over 4k yards, had 27 td passes and only 6 picks

In 2020 he sucks. Could be a factor of many things (injury, covid, offensive injuries, lack of playmakers, etc)

I'm not pulling the plug on him just yet and i expect him to be the eagles qb on opening day 2021.

He'll count for over 30 mil against the cap for 2021 - 2024

If this is the end of the Wentz era in Philly and he really only had 1 very good year and 1 solid year (2019 with garbage talent around him) then it is funny that he still didn't set the team back but played a huge role in their best season in the SB era.

His MVP-caliber 2017 season allowed the Eagles to have homefield in the playoffs which set them up to beat Atlanta/Minnesota and get to the superbowl, which they won. If their QB was someone else for the duration of that year, who knows what happens.

I'm usually not a fan of "XYZ QB will bust" talk though, There are like 12-15 "good" QB's in the NFL at a given time and around 3 taken in the first round every year, most will not turn into 10+ year Matt Ryan baseline starters. It is just a safe way for someone to be right about something when the odds are tremendously in their favor.

Also, 99.9% of people have no real edge in pre-NFL QB projections/evaluation.

And that was only one year ago. And he did that with trash around him on offense. Absolute garbage.

I think that's actually a damn good season under the circumstances. Yet other's think he had a bad year. All a matter of perspective I guess.

I'm happy with those 2019 numbers

Its 2020 that he has been horrendus.

However its just an odd year so i'm giving a "pass" to many who are having crappy years

It's almost 100% that he will be given every chance to be the starter in 2021 no matter how bad he is this year. No only does he count like 30 mil+ against the cap. If they wanted to cut ties with him it would cost $59m against the cap in 2021!! So that isn't happening.

He will either be the starter, or a $30m backup.

Tom Brady threw for 4k yards in 2019 with nobody too.

If anything, that a positive point for Wentz. Not a knock.

Both players had trash to throw to. Both players got their teams to the playoffs and had above average years statistically.

everyone looked at brady as a dead arm and washed up. he looked awful and still threw for 4k. wentz was middle of the road statistically last year. 4k yards sounds great but 11 qbs did it last year (woulda been 12 if brees wasnt hurt). wentz had the 17th best completion percentage (63.9) with the 25th best per completion average (6.7). he throws short passes and not accurately....just my take

Could Carson Wentz wind up with Billy B?

Cam Newton is just a temp.

If he ends up anywhere but Philly, you would think he would have to be willing to restructure his contract to make it more team friendly. No way any team will take that contract on as is with the way he's been playing.

Would he give up the money though? That's a monster contract. Would depend on how much he would be willing to give up I guess.

I wouldn’t. Don’t care how much you want to be great or prove everyone wrong. That kind of money will never present itself again to him. He should take every penny.

I'm still not selling the stock. I still see a guy with loads of talent. Just making bad decisions.

This too shall pass.

You can all bail. I'll bump this thread one day and laugh at the haters.

Hey Love you still holding this stock? Or did you sell and buy Jalen Hurts stock?
