In 1983, the dolphins had a 3-2 record. In week 6, coach Don Shula benched his starter for some rookie named Dan Marino.

i wanna say that turned out well

except for Justin cruise. He had the dolphins starting qb on his fantasy team and that benching cost him 5k of winnings in his 1983 fantasy league.

Most overrated QB ever labeled a superstar

Rookie QBs riding the pine for a season isn't always a bad thing. I remember when teams having patience with their rookie QBs paid off. Throwing them in too early and expecting greatness immediately, that rarely pays off.

For the superstar label yes.

WTF?

When he retired, he held MANY single season and all time passing records.

Those records were eventually broken due to a pass happy league.

Overrated? haha.

Enjoy your morning bong hits!!

Yards and passing records are fine. But what gives you a superstar label is being clutch .. Marino choked way to many times. Bad leader too. Blamed everyone else but himself after big losses...Not saying he wasn't good to great .. But never should've had the superstar label.

marino was overrated??

Greatest arm the NFL has ever seen in Marino. Imagine if these superstar QB's who and are playing in the 2000's would have played back in the 80's and 90's like Dan did. Manning, Brady and company would have struggled and struggled

The mid 70's thru the 90's were they toughest era's to ever play in. What Marino did with 2 receivers and brutal defenses and no rule changes back then, he would have thrown for 6k yards and 60 TD's if he played today

Marino never really had a strong running game (never had a 1000 yard rusher until 1996) or a great defense.

The best Miami teams were in 84 and 85 (niners beat em super bowl in 84 and pats had HUGE upset in 85). The fins teams of the early 90's were VERY good but the Bills were better and the fins couldnt get out of their divison (back then it was very RARE for a wild card team to make superbowl).

The 93 fins were VERY good but Marino tore his ACL.

Marino was very clutch. Guy had a zillion come from behind wins.

Most of the dolphins playoff losses were against better teams. Cant really remember many dolphins playoff losses when they were favored other then the 85 pats

1 other thing of note

Maybe if Fitz played better in 2019 and the dolphins had won more games, then maybe the dolphins wouldnt have been in position to draft a QB?

Guy threw for 3,529 yards with 20 td passes and 13 picks

Rating of 85.5 and QBR of 68.3

His 2020 stats are 1535 yards 10 td's and 7 picks

Rating of 95 and QBR of 79.6

So he's 12th in yards, 13th in td's, 3rd worst in picks, 17th in rating and 7th in QBR

Yet we're on 3 pages worth of how his 37 year old ass should be starting over the 5th pick in the draft.

This whole thread started b/c fantasy boy JC is mad that he has Devante Parker on his fantasy team and his production may now be down

I will disagree with you again. You're so way off. Marino was a bonafide superstar and first ballot HOF. Better QB than Namath too, and I'm a Jets fan. Do you know anything at all that's factual? Your opinions and thoughts are so asinine and uninformed.

Your opinion doesn't mean much to me either... Don't think I was comparing Namath with Marino.

I see you're an ignorant prideful fool. Instead of saying hey let me backtrack on that guys, you double down by saying your opinion or anyone else doesn't mean much to me. You said Namath was a superstar and Marino one of the greatest QBs ever isn't. That's a comparison bright eyes. You're statement of Marino is NOT a superstar is an idiotic one. We can put a poll up whether Marino was a star and you'll see the whole forum say he was with the one dissenting vote being yours!

I see you have a reading comprehension problem.. maybe you should look again at what I posted , read it again , and absorb it , ... If not , we're done.. Arguing with fools like yourself is something I like to avoid..

I think Tua hurts this team betting wise. In the short term he is likely to give them less chance to win/cover

While I back this play of starting Tua....if they are going to do it now they should have done it day 1

That is the only thing that doesn't make much sense is to do it as they are playing well and gaining momentum with Fitz

But maybe they think that momentum is what will give Tua a taste of winning or success as opposed to putting him in there with a team which might have been real bad causing him to get beat up and lose confidence
