Maybe......but maybe he could go Flacco for a year..

When Flacco went Flacco for a year, he was in his prime and had a great team around him.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a journeyman QB. He's 37 years old. And is surrounded at best with an average NFL roster. There's zero chance in hell he goes "Flacco" or "Dilfer" for a year and leads Miami to a Super Bowl run. Zero chance.

Just curious if anyone on here has watched at least 3 dolphins games this season?

You guys are talking like Fitz is Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers is waiting in the wings

Ya, weird analogy, just doesn't land at all. Ravens were 1 of the best teams in the NFL from '08-14. They hardly had some cinderella run. They just broke through one year finally.

Fitz been around forever, he gets hot, he gets cold. Didn't know he had this much support behind him.

Wouldn't be surprised that Fitz is back as starter at some point

It’s funny how fantasy football guy is so pissed over this. Fitz cant even start in a 16 team league UNLESS the other QB was on a bye week.

Or maybe He is mad that he has Parker or Gelsiki and their production will drop.

JC cracks me up

Also i think the team will not play as hard for the rookie. Without a doubt they have rallied around fitzmagic. They are winning, they are having fun, he is their leader

So for guys saying the teammates are happy about this decision you are dead wrong

Why do you like him so much? He is a turnover prone, career journeyman and 2 of their 3 wins are against the two worst teams in the league.

Its not all about Fitz. For me , the team is going in the right direction. The other 52 players outside Tua are developing nicely . why change now ?

Sounds like it may have been leaked before the hc told any of the players.

Bring back Fitzmagic!

He was the 4th pick in the draft. Getting him experience and getting yourself information on how good he is will be way more important to what you do in the future and your teams future success than rolling Fitz out there for another 2 months so you can go 9-7 and lose to the Steelers in rd 1.

I really don't take many hard positions on young QB's, I think the NFL development of quarterback + projection proces is much harder than people think. As well as the fact a lot of success depends on your coaches/teammates, but I'd pretty much go any 4th overall pick over Fitzpatrick if I were the Dolphins.

They're still a rebuilding team.

"I was shocked by it. It definitely caught me off guard. It was a hard thing for me to hear yesterday, just kind of digesting the news. My heart just hurt all day. It was heartbreaking for me," Fitzpatrick said Wednesday. "Flo kind of said what he said and said what he said to you guys as well, and that's the decision and the direction that the organization is going in."
"Obviously we've talked in the past, me and you guys, about how I'm the placeholder and this eventually was going to happen," Fitzpatrick added. "It was just a matter of kind of when, not if. It still just ... it broke my heart yesterday. It's a tough thing for me to hear and to now have to deal with, but I'm going to do my best with it."

"There was a lot of stuff going through my mind yesterday, just from a personal standpoint, not necessarily with the team," Fitzpatrick said. "Is this it? Like, was that my last game as an NFL player in terms of being the starter and going out there and playing?
I've been a starter, I've been benched all kinds of different ways, but this one just really more so than any of them ... this organization and what we've been through the last year and a half, this was kind of the first place other than Buffalo where I just felt fully committed and invested and felt like it was my team. To have that, I think that's a lot of the reason why I just ... my heart was so heavy yesterday. But that's the direction that the organization and I've just got to accept it."

I think you can make a case for both sides of this discussion. For me , you have a very young team that seems to be developing very well. Its not just about 1 player going forward. Its about the whole team. But I understand where you're coming from. My guess , if we go by past performances , Tua would've had his shot at some point this year. Insert him when the team needs that extra boost

Fitz is a good backup! ... and that's what he is, a back up. He is 37 years old and the team is 3-3 with Fitz having 10 TDs and 7 INT in 6 games. Tua can have those same stats and gain experience at the same time. The Dolphins got too much invested in Tua to let him sit on the bench.

Not sure what Fitz is thinking there? The guy was taken with the 4th pick. If you couldn't see the writing was on the wall then that ain't saying much for your Harvard degree.

Only thing I'd say is Belichick disciples have had a hard time trying replicate his coaching style in other places and Flores is probably guilty of that. Fitz should've known 2 months ago that Tua would be taking over eventually. And if he wasn't cool w/ that, then let him ask for a trade back then rather than create a distraction.

Pats- I agree with MANY things you are saying on here.

Coach Flo is trying to copy the patriot way. Fins fans are happy with him.

btw, Tua drafted 5th but I get your jist

That's why I speculated it got leaked. As a fan Fitz is fun to cheer for but there's an anticipation with Tua that just doesn't exist with him. From what I can tell Fitz is the consummate professional and team guy. It's not the reaction that you would expect.

Anyways it may be a wet dream but how awesome would it be if the Texans end up with the worst record and the Dolphins trade the pick back to them.
