My grandfather had a horse and wagon in Newark, NJ and delivered ice and coal to people who had 4 story walk ups. He was an absolute BULL. I remember him taking me for a ride with his horse "Whitey" and I'll never forget it. My other grandfather sold produce out of the back of a truck and would always give me prunes that he kept in a garage. Both were from Newark and earned an honest living!

Things have been pretty good, largely. Grandparents not so great, but both over 90, so we take the good with the bad.

Speaking of which, forgot about my grandmother's dad. He was a moonshine runner during Prohibition, and was shot dead by the cops during one of those runs. Oddly, my grandmother has had maybe twenty drinks her whole life. Funny how that goes.

On my dad's side, my grandfather was a Tobacco farmer in Kentucky. Not sure about my great grandfather, remember my dad telling me a story about him being a bootlegger at one time though

On my mom's side, my grandfather helped run a funeral home in Kentucky, and my great grandfather owned a bakery, also in Kentucky

My mother's father was a sportswriter for the Washington Post and my Father's father was a tobacco farmer in Kentucky during the depression. My great grandfather(father's side) was a banker in Chickasha, Oklahoma, located in one of the richest oil & gas counties in the United States.

No wonder you are so good-looking, you have that Scandinavian blood in you. I grew up in an area with Scandinavian people and the women are very attractive.

My great-grandfather was a horse-rancher here in Texas. I wonder if they wagered on horseracing back then, we know they did!

My grandfather on my Dad's side was a "debit insurance" salesman in Dallas TX from after WWI into the 1950s.

Sold the accident and disability insurance that working class paid for literally in weekly premiums that were less than a buck.

My father is challenged these days with communication, but you've inspired me to ask him if he recalls what his own grandfather did....I'd take a gander and guess farmer of some kind since I know the family was from very rural North Texas.
