You sure do have a lot of information at your disposal! It's nice to be able to access it all interactively like this rather than having to go through the arduous search process.

Just to clarify, I wasn't thinking that the outside world would "help" Hungary if it went through that scenario. That's what most of the brainwashed dweebs think, though. I am fully aware that people and nations act in their own interests first and foremost and to expect anything else is folly.

I was thinking the west would feel threatened by the first signs of a first world nation becoming independent-minded, so they would take steps to ensure that the America-dependency continues. Independent-mindedness could cause horrible things to happen like destabilizing world markets. Imagine if we started to set our own prices on things like automobiles, telecom, gas and oil!? At the moment there is collusion at the head-of-state level to make sure the prices are kept artificially high and fairly equal within the EU. Just setting prices in these industries to true free-market levels would be enough to elicit nuclear threats. And these are only a few industries. There would be plenty of political motivations as well. Of course I am sure you know this, but maybe you didn't know that I know it as well.

I will be reading your links and other posts over the next couple of days and I'm sure I will have more questions for you. I never thought such interesting world political discussion could happen on a sports forum!

EL DIABLO: I will never understand some people's thinking about war and what we need to do.

BAR: Keep comin' back.

ED: Wake up people, we have to protect ourselves and take care of problems before they get worse. I know it is hard for some to think about 9/11 and translate that to Iraq. Some people want to say there is no connection between the two. ......I say ok ...maybe not, who cares .....

BAR: I care. If you're pissed about 9/11, then deal with the causes that created it. At thist ime we have no evidence Iraq was involved, so invading Iraq is an irrational response.

ED: Iraq had to be defeated and freed.

BAR: No it didn't.

ED: Saddam wanted to strike us anyway he could.

BAR: No he didn't.

ED: ...If someone could promise and deliver a WMD to be set off in an America city would Saddam want to do it ??

BAR: No

ED: How can you rationalize with people that are willing to blow themselves up to harm innocent women and children .....their own people.

BAR: How can you rationalize with people that are willing to blow up others by dropping bombs on them from 20,000 feet and harming innocent women and children...their own people (for we are all brothers and sisters in the end)?

ED: We could of wiped out Vietnam with great ease (not talking about nukes either)

BAR: Nonsense. You need to revisit the last 3 years of the war when Nixon ordered non stop bombing 24/7 for months on end. No matter how many people you murder, there will be more left to resist a foreign invasion. Iraq is no different

ED:.....we could do the same in Iraq. We could bomb the place into submission where nothing was standing and killing millions and then chase down the few scumbags left.

BAR: Is that what you propose here? Bomb them until millions are killed?

ED: If being alittle cautious means that we strike alittle early ....so be it......better them than us.

BAR: Murder for political reasons is always wrong, regardless of who strikes first.

That's correct. We are expected to look at these people on a case-by-case basis, give them the benefit of the doubt and not make generalizations while they are running around saying "Kill all Americans!"<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Fair enough, but you do, of course, realise that this same rationale is applied in the MidEast as well ... are they supposed to sit idly by watching the US invade Iraq for no (real) reason and not hate the troops and the culture that created them? It's not that their position is more moralm but it is as reactionary to them as yours is of 9/11 ... BOTH sides are deluded by racist popular movements and, eventually, it either has to stop, be separated or declare a loser.

I am assuming you are old enough to remember Communist Russia, and how desperately the US hated them. Was it strictly because they were communist and no other reason? I doubt that. Russia was trying to spread its communism, indeed it was successful on many fronts, and this was perceived to be a threat to American stability, rightfully so. Can you not, for even a second, see a parallel? You really need to get off this moral pedestal you've built yourself and realise that this 'us against them' mentality cannot possibly end well. Certainly it won't end in any fashion deemed moral.
