I never tip more than 20 percent.... usually less

Its not my fault their bosses dont want to pay them. Besides for the amount of actual work they do, they make waaayyy too much.

People who do backbreaking jobs for minimum wage, get my sympathy.

All those college dropouts and wanna be actresses do not. The dishwashers do 10x the work, yet dont get a cent of the tip.. which they clearly should)

(I am talking about places like NYC)

You ever wait tables?

Everyone acts like servers make s much of that tip. They make $3 a hour, then you have some dip shit like smalldaddy leaving a shitty tip. After they take the 1.5% tip out, out of your overall sales servers don't make much. Unless you work at a high end place.

Bottom line, people are working trying to make a living. And if they are working, and I can afford it, I'll pay it forward

when I moved to NYC I needed a second job so I worked in a restaurant, not as a waiter but did a few shift as such

Its a not much of a skill position and whoever says otherwise is either not a good worker and/or doesnt know what hard work is.

Wanna do hard work? Work as a mover for the summer and then get back to me

If you can't afford to tip then don't go in the first place. Even if they are lousy they get the 15% minimum, better service more. It is understood widely that they depend on tips, it is borderline criminal if you don't tip. If you find a waiter who is in a foul mood, maybe it;s for a reason. There are too many people out there that look for reasons not to tip. The assholes!

I pretty much always tip 20% unless they go out of their way to be rude somehow.

I finally have put me foot down and stopped tipping delivery drivers for pizza. Problem is, I feel like I am in their computer as "lets piss on his pizza" or worse. They build the delivery price into the pizza cost

I do think the biggest bunch of crap is if you go to a bar, order a bottled beer at the counter, bartender turns around picks up bottle and hands it to you, they get a 25% tip assuming beer is $4. Seems people are obligated to give them $1 for absolutely nothing.

It's all relative. They are difficult in different ways. As a mover the manual labor is hard but you aren't dealing with the public. I have done both and I prefer manual labor to dealing with the public, but my job with the public pays more.

You have start a tab and aggregate to avoid this crap. Get a few drinks on there and stick with the 15-20%. Unless he ends up hooking you up...then adjust accordingly.
Always use cash to pay too. They like seeing piles of cash even if they get a little less than they think they are entitled to.

So you get 4-5 beers and leave 5 bucks total. Does that really make or break you?

if a person cant tip 5 bucks or so for 5 beers, maybe that person need to go to the 7 eleven and buy a 6 pack and take it home, no tipping there
