after going to a funeral recently it is heavy on my mind.

The think that freaks me out the most when I think about death is that you won't be even able to think anymore, you know? Like how you're thinking about death right now, no thoughts at all.

Tell the people you love that you love them too...never hold back.

I'm in the minority I guess. At times the fear of death is so bad I cant get my mind off of it. I dont fear the pain before death at all. I just fear the day after I die until forever.

Fuck this thread is getting me in panic mode already

I'm not that bad but I too fear death - I want to live forever

Because many fear that it might be then end & they will be no more.

You will not wakep up in 50yrs, 500 yrs, or 5,000 years.

You will not be reincarnated.

You rot & that's it.

Anyone who doesn't fear this at some point in life, even Atheists, have honestly never lied in their bed at night & given it enough thought.

My best friend and i used to debate this.

He believes if you die & that's it, that it's a peaceful thought.

I think just the opposite.

It's a terrifying thought.

I do believe in God.

But even believers wonder at times & just wish we knew for certain.

Ah, I'm not the only only thinking about it deep in the night. I have come to the opinion it's the loss of ego that is most scary. Think about it. YOU are no more. YOU will not exist ever. Of course it can also be liberating.

I should have started this thread with: Do you fear pain before death? Didn't want it to become a religious thread, so I worded it incorrectly.

That eloquently summed up everything I feel about the subject. It IS indeed terrifying to me. I love life too much.

I'm sure many die peacefully and painlessly in their sleep at old age. I fear even a painless death because I don't want to die. So you can imagine how much more a painful death would terrify me. Can we kill this thread. It's depressing me and scaring me haha. I think about it all the time at 40 years old. I'm relieved when there's days I don't think about it. This thread isn't helping.

Obviously, I think we all want to go peacefully and without pain.

Personally, I kind of accepted that life is a cycle and death is part of that cycle so I'm not really afraid of it. I just accept that it is part my life and am not afraid of it when it comes.

Also, as they say, we don't remember the thousands of years before we were born so we should be fine not remember the years after we are gone.

A thousand years before we were born technology wasn't moving forward like a runaway locomotive. I want to know what secrets of the Universe are unlocked. Aren't you profoundly curious about that? Nevermind secrets of the Universe, what if they discover a cure for aging. This isn't that far fetched.

I fear things like some newer studies which say your brain stays active for 10-20 minutes after death & you may lie there knowing you're dead.

Horrifying

Yuck I fear that!

I'm 43 and don't really think about dying but I do fear my parents passing someday or god forbid one of my children. Do I obsess and think about it everyday? No

I believe in God and truly hope I'm right and there is an afterlife but if there isn't after I die, my worries will be over one way or the other.

Ironically, I’m working with a startup directly related to this topic. We are going to launch our web site and app sometime around August/September.

The best thing you can do is be prepared for when that day comes. I’m not talking about life insurance or anything like that, I’m talking about removing the burdens from both you and your loved ones. For ex, my boss is pretty loaded. He has property in Florida, Texas, Arizona...he has motorcycles, he has bitcoin, he has exotic animals, etc. His family is one sister up in Canada who probably isn’t even aware of everything he owns. He has nothing at all down on paper, and if something were to happen to him,his sister would have a total nightmare trying to untangle all that.

Stay tuned, fuckers...I’ll bump this thread when our site is ready.

I believe in God. I believe in an afterlife where you can look down on what's happening on earth. I believe that God knows what is going to happen but I think that's his exclusive provence.

The thing is I grew up fearing God. Do the right thing and stay in his graces. That's what I was taught. What I've found is that is a good way to lead life as I am pretty satisfied with my existence day to day. My life is far from perfect but I try to do the right (unselfish) thing. There is a peace in that.

When death comes I'll know that I tried to be a good human being. Not really sure what happens then but there is solace in knowing that I've tried to do to others as I'd have them do to me.

And no, I'm not a religious fanatic.

That's another thing. I fear not only my death but the death of a loved one even more so. Death sucks. Taxes too.

Than stop opening the thread and making comments about it. Lolol. I'm 52 so my life is most likely 3/4 over with. I'm fat and don't exercise because I hate it. My dad was a pastor in a Christian church so I used to go every Sunday. So at least I'll go to heaven.

Yeah, because we all know anyone that goes to church goes to heaven where they have all the cotton candy you can eat and the constant low soothing hum of purring fuzzy kitty cats playing on fluffy billowing clounds keeps us content for all eternity. Amen.
