why is his answer the one Honest answer ??

I Don't want to die, but I don't fear it because I know for sure 100% I'm going to die

Possibly this is my own perception. Maybe others simply don't think of it much. But, I think deep down most of us fear it, especially as we grow older. Or maybe I'm in the minority.

If you believe in God and Jesus is your savior, there should be no worries. Pretty simple

NO! The good lord has given me more years than I probably deserve.

I'm thankful for every day of life I have left....but I don't fear death at all.

I'm in the minority I guess. At times the fear of death is so bad I cant get my mind off of it. I dont fear the pain before death at all. I just fear the day after I die until forever.

Fuck this thread is getting me in panic mode already

sorry to hear.

this may sound silly, nonetheless-- why fret over shit you have no control over? if need be, why not provide your brain with a positive, nurturing narrative about 'the day after i die until forever'. Why not make the story a good one? And then BELIEVE it.

You're not in the minority trust me. Most if not all people fear death. Some just deny it to other or themselves to cope. Unless you hate life, you are fearful of dying. Period.

Very good thoughtful answers....As one poster above said if you believe in God and accept Jesus as your savior; than you know you are saved by his grace and not "works"... That makes my fear level very low..And believe you me, I've never been any type of "goody-goody" as some might think.. I respect everyone's religion and even those with no religion... That's a personal thing that we deal with on an individual basis. My fear is long term suffering before death.... Even though I have one of those legal advance Medical directives.... I don't know exactly how that works in the real world...

Used to fear death until I witnessed 3 people close to me take their last breath. In all 3 cases, the peace and serenity that filled the room and their faces as they left this earth changed my mind. Granted they all left because of a dreaded disease but the looks on all three of their faces changed my mind about it. Not as miraculous as witnessing the birth of my kids but a close second.

What I fear is my kids having to handle the end of life duties that only close friends or family members can handle. If my dad, a very proud man, knew that I had to change his Depends the last 3 days of his life, he would have ended it sooner. A very humbling experience that I would like to spare my loved ones. Hopefully assisted suicide will be available in my state when the time comes because I will be all in.

Lol, can't say I'm surprised by the statement that brought about your comments.

Used to be very concerned about death when I was younger, but when the realization that you're much closer to the end than the beginning, much less concern. Like Jackson Browne says in "The Pretender:"

"I've been aware of the time going by, they say in the end, it's the wink of an eye."

I don't like to mock people in their beliefs man but come on..the whole silly 40 virgins waiting in heaven, reincarnation, a Heaven and Hell, saviors...you guys can't honestly believe in these fairy tales?

Sometimes I think religion stuck around after the belief in witches and demons and a flat earth and all that vanished is because people are afraid of dying. The belief that there is a God or a heaven helps them cope. Also because there's so much money and control to be had in religion lol.

This thread is getting depressing. Moving on from this.

When you die you just die. That's it folks. And it sucks. So live life to the fullest and fuck as many hot girls as you can and try to stay healthy.

Interesting point RED EYE. Aside from the fear of not being alive anymore obviously, the fact that I won't know what happens in the future really bugs me. Forget 20 to 50 years, I want to know what happens in 200 to 500 years. So curious. Hate that I won't be around to witness it.

A lot of times I think damn I wish I was born 100 years or so from now when they invent the fountain of youth pill. With technology advancing so fast it's just a matter of time they invent something like that. A cure for aging and diseases. Or transplanting brains onto robots to live forever. It would suck if I just miss it by a few decades.
