Really, Mob? Using this logic, you're saying Reno Chaz is a "mush" or a "cooler?" :think2:

After all, Reno is on record as stating he doesn't believe in this superstitious nonsense. Read his opening comment to this thought provking thread.

There are countless others who don't believe in mushes or coolers. Are they all mushes and coolers because of that? :think2:

Seriously, Mob, your belief in "mushes" and "coolers" is far-fetched. No intelligent person would subscribe to this way of thinking.

I'm thinking you're just upset about losing a bet, and seek to lay the blame on someone. You and your "crew" have targeted me.

In Kevy's MLB thread, even he makes fun of this absurd notion.

You really think one person out of billions on this planet on an internet forum board really can influence the outcome of a game? :think2:

Serious question. Thanks and good luck! :toast:

Seriously, have seen it too many times.....and a few of them are my friends.....

Black Cats I call them....also guys like the mush in Bronx Tales......

Superstitions

Well, I'm baffled how people think one anonymous individual out of billions can legitimately influence the outcome of a sporting bet.

The character "Eddie Mush" from the 1993 movie Bronx Tales has fueled this urban legend IMO.

However, it's like every other superstition out there I suppose.

Horseshoes and rabbits feet allegedly bring good luck. Walking under a ladder, breaking a mirror, or having a black cat cross your path means you'll have bad luck.

Some people swear by these charms and acts despite how ludicrous it seems.

These are all cultural mores which society as a whole tolerates. It's an individual's choice on whether he wants to believe in these precursors of good or bad luck.
There'll always be those here at the Rx who lend credibility to the notion someone can tail a play and post on an anonymous internet posting board and actually cause it (the play) to lose.

I don't believe in broken mirrors, walking under ladders, or black cats crossing your path....I believe in stone, cold losers who can not pick winners and will always wind up on the wrong side....those kind of guys have a few good days but lose overall for months on end.....so when they wind up on my side, I am very cautious and might buy the whole side back....this has been good for me more times than not....

Yes, I reside here in heart of Bangkok. Approximately a 5 minute walk from the Nana Entertainment Complex here on Soi 4 Sukhumvit. :devilex:
Should I make it down to Pattaya, I'll definitely PM you and we'll certainly tip a few! :toast:

People have the right to believe whatever they want. I am a very open minded person
Meaning I shut little to nothing down unless I absolutely know. I have no true evidence of mushes besides asking what I asked...if luck is believed in so much around the world.....why is bad luck so unbelievable? We might as well stop saying Goodluck on here. It is what it is. If I posted in a posters thread 3 times and he lost each time I posted there and I follow his plays a lot I would not come back in there. Period. Out of respect to him, his regular followers, and for my money. It is called gambling. Superstitions go hand and hand with gambling. It is one of those things where it is just common courtesy. Same thing as prematurely going into someones thread and saying nice job good win in the 7th inning to have the other team come back in the 9th to win it. See if that doesn't piss you off.

You lost me on this one. If I go into a poster's thread 3X and he loses 3 times, that's on me? I should stay out? Huh? What about the other posters who came into the OP's thread and posted "good luck" 3X and suffered the same result (losses?) Using your logic, they also should not go back in that OP's thread "out of respect to him." That would make for some very sparse threads, don't you think? :think2:

I concur with this sentiment 100%. No need to be premature in congratulating someone until the play is final. Well, unless it's a totals OVER play in MLB. If the OP has the OVER and that number's been exceeded before the 9th inning, I see no harm in congratulating him before the final out. @)

Notice in that scene above from "Bronx Tales" what Sonny said about the horse Kryptonite as it was in the lead .....

"IT'S A LOCK!"

That's what cost him the race.

Cardinal rule for gamblers:

NEVER EVER SAY A PLAY IS A LOCK!

That's common knowledge. :grandmais

Saying Goodluck. Thankyou. Thanks for sharing doesn't jinx anything.

It is when the sheep/mushes feel the need to come into a cappers thread to tell them how much they love the play. Like you do. No one posting their play is looking for your approval or anyone else's. If they were they wouldn't of posted the play.

I don't understand why people feel the need to reassure the O.P that they love the pick. 90% of the time that is said the play loses. That is a MUSH. Especially if it happens over and over again. These aren't respected cappers reassuring the play. Or friends of the O.P.

Like I said if you believe in good luck then you should believe in bad luck. And unintentional bad luck

Why would you agree with that but not agree with mushing?

Because going into someones thread and saying thanks for the win in the 7th inning doesn't change the structure of the game does it? Sounds a bit hypocritical guys.

I specifically referenced the unique example of a MLB OVERS play that hits BEFORE the final out in the 9th inning. I see no harm in congratulating the OP if he hits his OVER in the 5th inning. You worried runs will mysteriously disappear? :think2:

Nah I get that obviously. But that's clearly not what I am talking about.

My point was to say. ...you can't choose one of those incidents. You either believe in both or neither. A person thanking a poster for a premature winner may not have any affect on the outcome. But everyone here hates when people do that. So it is in the same ball park as mushing. It is apart of gambling that you respect. Superstitions. Because the guy making that statement in the 7th inning doesn't really change the outcome of the game does it?
