Gentlemen,

Good evening.... tomorrow will be a good day to get back at it in NHL now that the first games after the break are through our system.

I made a play tonight as part of NFL parlay, but I won't mention it since it doesn't matter at this point to all of you.

Two things though:

First, absolutely surprised at Florida Panthers right now. They are a hot team, so perhaps picking them is a good thing.

Second, Ducks are struggling a bit now and headed in a slump and Vancouver are coming out of a slump. Watch these teams.

Third, Boston Bruins are not very good, especially on the road. Fade them on the road especially when they are favorites and you can get Home Team +2.

Fourth, Blackhawks are peaking. They will be contenders for Cup this year.

That's all.

Sincerely,

DNI Mourinho

Here's the teams I am consider at the moment.

Bruins
Penguins
Washington
Tampa Bay
Blues
Blackhawks
Rangers

The thing I don't like about today's slate of games is there's too many choices which makes my job more difficult. When there's only 4-6 games, I can easily winnow down to 3 or 4 games tops that I like. With games like tonight, what's tough to call when making my play is I'll narrow down 2-3 teams I realy like, and then, I have to figure out who that 4th team is going to be, and then it becomes difficult because you can insert any team into that 4th slot and you second guess yourself at times.

Bruins - I don't like Bruins, as I said above. BUT, at home, with Rask they are playing a Wings team that hasn't scored many goals. All I would need, in my opinion is Boston to get 2 goals, and I think Detroit won't score 4.

Penguins - Not sure on them, NJ plays them tough at home, but Penguins could bounce back tonight after laying an egg. Law of averages.

Tampa Bay - Better team, at home, playing a Toronto team that can't keep puck out of net. This is probably a 'staple' play, as I don't see a reason not to use them here tonight.

Blues - Blues got embarrassed last time, but playing at home, I give them the edge.

Hawks - Ride them because they are great team, could go to OT tonight.

Rangers - They are streaking too, they have been in good form.

Gonna be tough tonight to make some calls cause I won't play all these teams. In my opinion TB +1.5 and Hawks +1.5 are definitely in my play. The rest is where I am up in the air. Blues with Brodeur, who knows if he'll show up. 3.29 GAA is not goodd and scary to back.

Backing out of Penguins and perhaps even Blues.

Bruins, TB, Hawks, Rangers.... Islanders/Caps is giving me trouble.

Might Include Oklahoma CFB +3.5 in one of the plays that way I only have to pick a couple of NHL games I like.

Really tough slate tonight gentlemen.

In cases like this, do you think it would be more advantageous to narrow down the parlay to 2-3 games that you are most confident and pay a slightly higher juice?

Definietly, if the 4th play is forced then you lose the money regardless. I would rather make 70% and win than the prospect of 95% ROI and lose cause I forced the 4th team.

TB +1.5 & Hawks +1.5 are my strongest teams tonight. After those two I leave it to you all to pick one more team to put in your own parlay

Good luck to you tonight, I was considering throwing Oklahoma ML (NCAAF) in but the way these bowl games have been going who knows who will actually win. I used Gonzaga ML myself as I believe they are clicking on all cylinders right now and believe that they will be right there in that Final Four come March. I am guessing you may have thrown in a prop to finish out that last leg of the parlay?

I didn't want to sway anyone's decision on the games I wasn't confident on. Here's what I settled on:

Boston +1.5
Tampa Bay +1.5
Chicago Blackhawks +1.5

600 to win 430

Ahhh, good call on Gonzaga, I don't fancy college basketball, but will use any value ML in a play that wins. Gonzaga is a good play. I should have checked basketball options too but I was too focused and one dimensional on NHL tonight I was blinded.

As for Oklahoma I was very close to putting them in a parlparbut as you stated, these meaningless bowl games, it's tough to call. Oklahoma clearly isn't the motivated side tonight.

Lastly, I wonder if my own advice on Boston will haunt me, as they really aren't in good form, but Wings don't score a lot of goals. I reckon Boston gets 2-3 tonight which means Wings must get 4-5 in my opinion for Boston +1.5 to lose.

If I get through Boston and get to Tampa and Blackhawks I really like my chances to win this one tonight. You could say, more oorless that I 'forced' Boston tonight cause I was debating Boston, Blues and Washington +2.

We will see on Boston...

Good luck to all.

Boston wins, Tampa just needs to not concede 2...

Hawks need to close out this play tonight...

DNI MOURINHO RECAP

DNI MOURINHO RECAP

6-1, +$4,904.70

12/12: +$892.70
12/14: +$915.00
12/16: +$410.45
12/18: +$1,596.20
12/19: +$566.75
12/20: +$946.80
12/22: -$423.20 *Lost on NFL prop of play, not on the NHL portions.
12/29: ????

Blackhawks +1.5 is pending right now to wrap up today's play. Haven't recapped in awhile, so thought I would do so now.

Tonight was a tough night to adequately handicap. You must all remember this: When there's 12 NHL games and you see multiple +1.5 lines, all between -350 through - 600, there's a lot of options out there and it really takes discipline and strategy/research and analysis to widdle down the 3-4 teams to utilize. It's tough with so many choices.

I don't ever like being in this position, but there's 5:40 left in the game, and unless Hawks score, we will likely be facing the empty net scenario. Plus, Hawks just got a penalty, so there will be sustained pressure on Hawks net for the remainder of the game. I doubt the Hawks score, but we just need Nashville to not score on the empty netter.

Empty nets are tense. Against good teams, like the Hawks, I feel there's maybe a 30% chance of Nashville scoring. This is because typically, against a good team like Hawks with under 1 minute remaining and 6 players on the ice, Hawks can control puck. But all it takes is one bad bounce or slip up and the empty net is easily converted. Here we go....

I also wanted to apologize to those who follow for not being able to give more insight and analysis pre-game pick, usually I have more time during the work-day to give statistics and match up info, but I will be extremely busy until about January 28th, and then I'll have better write-ups on these plays.

Okay, now the count-down begins to the empty net situation... what you really like/want actually if you are the team with the +1.5 and facing the empty netter is to have 1:30 left in the 3rd and then actually have the opponent holding the puck in the +1.5 team's zone, that doesn't allow the goalie to be pulled early, and then instead of facing 1:30 of empty net, maybe you only have 45 seconds or so.

3:37 left now gentlemen.... we wait.
