1) Inability to contact a player is NOT sufficient grounds to cancel the wager AFTER the event has ended. WSEX does not have those same "application requirements" as you stated for Youbet. If Revere was with Youbet, then maybe he would have supplied such information or not played there. Are you saying the books can stiff every player with incorrect/incomplete information?

2) At the time the problem was discovered, we have only Steve's claim that no one was there to cancel the wager. According to posters familiar with WSEX's location, Steve or someone else could have been there in 10-20 minutes. WSEX has give NO explanation for why it took them 5 hours to cancel the bets (and didn't even start until they knew the outcome). There is NO evidence or claim that they were physically unable to cancel the wager in a timely fashion.

3) Does WSEX even have an arbitration clause or claims of limited liability?

4) Is there a single post rule from WSEX's site that Revere violated?

5) Wasn't WSEX negligent for not having proper staff on site?

6) WSEX's representative, Steve, made a false claim on this forum that the wagers had been cancelled prior to the event. He was forced to retract that statement when Revere presented evidence to the contrary. Lies in one part the the testimony hurt the rest of the testimony.

7) Do you think that WSEX would have had the right to keep all of Revere's money if the bet had lost?

If books like WSEX are allowed to past-post (past-cancel), then no one would trust them to play there. Any past-posting by player or book is strictly forbidden.

I thought Wsex was a decent book until this shambles.

I too have had bets well over $500 on second line sports such as tennis and soccer with Wsex, never any trouble even on wins. Never anything like $40k but that is not the point.

This sorry tale is no better than SIA. If Wsex do not pay up I will at the least reduce my balance there, if not quit altogether.

Just like SIA, they try and hide behind "our employee did not do his job right". Total cap and with no legal standing whatsoever in any developed country.

Wsex, SIa and anyone else out there I am here to tell you that you are 100% responsible for the actions of ALL your employees - ESPECIALLY the negligent ones.

Pay the guy ASAP or call in the Chapter 11 experts if you can't afford to! And once you've paid him fix your stupid software which doesn't even let you bet the exact amount you want to, amongst other things such as not tracking your liabilities it seems.

That's right, game over for Revere.

They don't take 40K on NFL but they are going to take 40K on soccer over the net. Yeah sounds about right.

Revere is an angel, pay the man.

Why don't you come pay me a visit Revere, I'll buy you a drink.

Oh, and by the way, Newcastle v Man Utd was only THE biggest game of the weekend in Europe.

Anyone who can't lay off big bets on that match doesn't deserve to be in business.

Seems to me Jay C explained exactly how to do it and Revere did it with real money and had a real good chance of losing late. WSEX should have cancelled the bets before the start of the event not after it's a winner.

I don't think it's unusual to have soccer limits higher than NFL. Pinnacle has $3000 NFL, $7000 English Premier Soccer (isn't that what this game was?). And at Pinnacle, I know for a fact that you can place multiple wagers at the max -- their software requires at least one minute between, but you can get down all that you want as far as I know (I know I've personally banged some games -- not soccer -- at the max at least 5 or 6 times and never thought twice about it).

Sure, D2, Pinny allows that, but how often are you going to get down on Japan in the LLWS like that? Talk about a yen to bet!

I just can't believe how ready punters here are to lay down on the floor like doormats for the books.

Who cares whether revere gave Mickey Mouse as his contact name and Planet Mars as his phone number?

Did Wsex accept the bets? - YES

Did they cancel them before the start? - NO

could they have easily laid off any of Revere's action if they had wanted to? - YES

Are they thieves for not honouring the bets once the result went against them - YES YES YES

I am not a great fan of the way revere put these bets on and these are methods I would not use personally. But Wsex took those bets at not terrific odds for Revere, they have behaved like total SIA - Yahoops - cowboys on this one.

Earlier I posted:

Ok. Let me start saying that the +120 offered by WSEX was by no means off line and there were no real big market moves either, so if these clowns or Caribbean cowboys would have had proper accounts with firms like www.indosoccer.com or www.indosport.net, then they could have laid off Revere14's action within a minute, if not a few seconds. Pinnacle, not my favourite book, but I do know that they have at least taken proper arrangements and have accounts with them. Maybe the Indos do not want to do any business with WSEX or WSEX is simply not professional enough to have accounts with them. Whatever the reason may be, again I have to take all my money out of a book (I took all out of Rio during the sick gambler incident), simply because I cannot rest assured that my US$30k NBA bets that I am planning will stand.

I just got the bad news from Indosport. WSEX still owes them US$120k.
