Well done and congratulations. I am very happy about that INT return, it righted what would have been a big wrong, balt cover. They are continually outplayed but managed to cover a lot of games recently.

On to the SB, what you thinking, as i mentioned earlier, i really liked your write ups and ended up staying off Philly, again good work

nice work, your team was the better team yesterday. I was really surprised to see the Ravens make it that far with a rookie QB and Head Coach.

Hello dogball...

Thank you for taking the time to post your thoughts and kind words, like you I was VERY happy with regard to Troy Polamalu's pick-6, I am still shaking my head in amazement that Sweed dropped that sure TD...

...the Ravens managed a meager 14 points which is about the number of points I expected them to score, however, with that being said I wasn't too happy about HOW the Ravens got their points via two penalties which gave them 1st and goals at the one yard line.

...in the big picture I needed Baltimore to put SOME points on the board regardless of how the Ravens scored because I also had the OVER in the game.

My projection for the game was Pittsburgh winning by 27-10 or 27-13 finals which would have been a 14 to 17 point win with a total of 37 to 40 points scored, as it was the Steelers won by 9 and a total of 37 points was scored, I wasn't dead on but hey...at least we had BOTH the side and total right!!

Take care and be well my friend

Great job yesterday Dog.

And congrats on getting your boys back to the Big Game.

Curious what you think Pittsburgh will do to handle Larry Fitz. I know they'll try to pressure Warner but that didn't work too well for Philly yesterday. What do you think?

Hello FearTheRaven...

Thank you for the kind words my friend, when all kidding is put aside with regard to the rivalry between the two teams one thing is quite evident and that is the fact that the Ravens have ONE HELL of a good team...

...young rookie QB Flacco is going to be a really good one and so is the new firey head Coach Harbaugh, unfortunately the Ravens have some tough decisions to make during the upcoming off season with regard to their free agents on defense.

Personally, I think the Ravens need to let Ray Lewis go, his contract is up, he has been injury prone, and he is definately past his prime, they should concentrate on keeping both Bart Scott and Terrell Suggs and allowing a new influx of young talent to gel...its time to move on.

Take care and be well my friend

good job with your picks!!!! I have to disagree about lewis though, he is the face and heart and soul of this team and I am sure he will be brought back. I completely agree with you on scott and suggs. I also feel they should keep mclean and let willis go.. good luck representing the afc!

Hello Michelangelo...

Thanks for the kind words my friend and also thanks for the congrats on my home town Steelers making it back to the big game for the 7th overall time, if Pittsburgh defeats Arizona they will be the Super Bowl kings with regard to having a total of 6 rings.

The situation is totally different in my humble opinion with regard to the circumstances of Philly playing Arizona versus Pittsburgh playing Arizona, primarily because the Eagles were a tired bunch that was playing on the road again for the 3rd straight week and was also on the road again for a 5th time in a 7 week span...

...couple the tiredness factor of the Eagles with the fact that they had played in what amounted to 8 straight weeks of pressure packed football as a means of just making it to the playoffs and its no small wonder they were emotionally drained and came out very flat against the Cardinals.

A glance at who the Cardinals have played this year reveals something quite startling and that is the fact that Arizona only played 7 teams (Philly twice) that had defenses ranked in the NFL's top 10 in passing defense and the Cardinals posted a record of 2-5 straight up and ATS in those games.

On the flip side of things Pittsburgh's defense faced six teams this year (SD twice) that finished in the top 10 in the NFL in terms of passing yards per game (Houston, Indy, SD-twice, Dallas, and Philly), Pittsburgh won 4 of those 6 games in straight up fashion and held 4 of those 6 opponents to 17 points or less with an overall average of 17.2 points allowed.

I am no where near complete in my handicap of this years Super Bowl and/or the prop plays surrounding the game as of yet and will probably wait until the week prior to the game to make a final decision once I have a good idea of the weather for the game and have an updated injury list.

Michelangelo, I want you to know that I have always enjoyed your input and your very innovative and insightful approach to handicapping, keep up the great work that you do my friend!!

Take care and be well

Jim

Hello goode05...

Thank you for the kind words my friend, with regard to Ray Lewis, EVERY team gets to a point where a player becomes expendable when taking into consideration their real worth as a player versus what that team would have to pay that player to stay...

...some players opt to take a pay cut as a means of taking with the team in question, much like RB Jerome Bettis did because he wanted to remain a Steeler, however, other players simply move on to other teams when the team they are currently with refuses to meet the players salary demands.

Who knows for sure what will happen with Ray Lewis and the Ravens?

This much I do know, while its certainly true that once upon a time Ray Lewis was a dominating force in the NFL and in my humble opinion he is still one heck of a linebacker, the truth of the matter is that Lewis will turn 34 yrs old this May and his production is indeed down in comparison to previous years when he was at his best.

Keep in mind that Lewis was placed on IR for the remainder of the 2002 and 2005 seasons in which he only played 5 and 6 games in those seasons respectively and this is the FIRST year since 2003 that Lewis played the entire 16 game regular season schedule.

This year Lewis had 85 solo tackles, however, he had 82 solo's in 2007 and had 80 solo's in 2006 and in those two seasons only played 14 games, meaning that it took him two extra games this year to surpass the solo tackle tally that he accumulated over the past two seasons.

ALL players lose a step with age and there's simply no way around it, however, the better ones make up for the loss with experience and to me that's what makes Lewis a good linebacker to this day.

The point of the matter is that the Ravens are stocked with talent on the defensive side of things and really need to sign the two much younger linebackers (Suggs and Scott), the money they would save by NOT signing Ray Lewis could be applied to the offensive side of the ball...

...the Ravens finally have a nice young QB that looks like he could take them places, so why not get the kid some weapons?

Take care and be well my friend
