Det did not draft Darko with the hope he will be ready to play in 3 years. The time to win in Det is NOW!!

~the fact that anyone thinks detroit drafted DARKO to help them this year pretty much sums up there knowledge of the situation.. The fact that somebody would consider a 7ft 18 year old a bust after 3/4 of a year is fvcking laughable!

my bad, I didn't know we had 5 nba scouts who had been attended Pistons practices this season posting here at the RX..

I bet all you Darko haters have never seen him once. DO not know that he just turned 18 years old, that he is lefthanded and that all his teamates say he will be a SPECIAL talent someday in the NBA.... What do they know however? I mean surfboard, charlie, egd.. there the ones that know whom will and will not be successful in the NBA.... lmao!!!!

Kodiak -

Don't throw me into the mix of people who are not familiar with the Pistons' situation. I have seen 95 percent of their games this season and also follow them by reading the Detroit News and Detroit Free Press.

I am also friendly with the Pistons' PR Director and talk to him frequently about Darko. BTW, the Pistons just re-signed Lindsey Hunter!

Were you excited when the Tigers signed Pudge? Do you think the Red Wings have a chance to win the Cup? How are things in Michigan this time of year?

the tigers are better... I really didn't care about the signing of pudge.. atleast there trying...

the pistons are going to be very tough in the playoffs.. and i love the moves joey d. has made in the last year.. from darko to wallace!

good luck charlie... take most of what I say with a grain of salt..

It's hard to believe people are judging Darko and calling him things like "trailer-trash", and the "Sam Bowie" of the draft. No doubt that Anthony is a superb talent, but Darko is the youngest player in NBA history playing on a very successful NBA team, he hasn't hardly seen the floor and the Pistons haven't needed him too. It will be another 5 years before DARKO IS THE SAME AGE AS SAM BOWIE WAS WHEN HE WAS DRAFTED. Patience people, give the guy a chance.

How many people thought that the Kings got a much better deal when they got Mike Bibby for Jason Williams?? Well it doesn't look that way now.

Kodiak7, I am dumbfounded by your idiot remarks. Let me clue you in, Darko has been playing pro ball for a few years now. Darko has been a MAJOR disappointment for the Pistons. I have watched all of the Det games. When Darko plays you can tell his confidence is gone. The guy is over 7 feet tall and is a Shawn Bradley clone. Carmelo Anthony is 19 years old and is playing great. The Pistons have made a huge mistake in not drafting Melo. Nobody is arguing that except you and maybe Larry Brown.

It doesn't matter who Detroit took Anthony or Darko. Larry Brown does not play rookies. Would Darko be better at this point if he was in Denver? I'd hope so. It was much more convenient to draft a "possible future all-star" in Darko than someone Brown would have had to play now. Anthony will be an all-star next year and is a team marketing dream. Was Sam Bowie good when Portland drafted him? Yes. Was he MJ? No. Darko will probably be good in a couple of years. But why pass on a sure superstar in Carmelo? Drafting Jermaine turned out real well for the Blazers. They waited their time and got Dale Davis for him just when O'Neal got real good. The Pistons have a good looking team now but how would they look with Carmelo? It was a mistake.

EGD.. I bet you thought Jermaine O'neal was going to be a bust after his first two years in Indi as well... lmao... you guys are CLUELESS!

True they did drafted him knowing it would take soem time to bring him up.
Mello doesn't have the heart to become BIG.
That childish smiles he has on his face all the time, it's like 3 year old kid playing.
Dunkin' and puttin' on a show against the lakers the other night, but in the end it's Rush that showed Mello what time it was.
It's about winning.
Just look at the assists Mello had that night, that says enough.

True True
I was one of them, I thought Kings got the worst of that deal, but turns out, Bibby is better the Jason.
P.S. I hate the Kings, so this was hard for me to write down!

surfnoard.. If you asked every coach in the league who they would rather have 3 years from now. 90% of them would say, "ask me in three years." THAT was the point of this discussion you IDIOT! RE-READ the thread. not once did anyone say DARKO was presently better then Carmelo...

This guy, surfboard, is really fvcked in the head!

surfNoard, this thread was about defending the draft choice of DARKO at #2.. A decision which will take a few years to see the benifet from... Darko wasn't going to play this year in Detroit.. EVERYONE knew this! EXCEPT YOU and three other guys in this thread apparently.. lmao at YOU!

If Darko eventually develops as the personnel experts projected, he'll give Detroit a potentially fearsome front line, even by Western Conference standards. Wallace. Mehmet Okur. Milicic.

Can't name too many trios that would be able to match them, with Tayshaun Prince as a more than passable choice to play Anthony's position.

And Darko, mind you, is progressing. He has bulked up noticeably, pushing his weight into the 260s. He is competing better in practice. He has moved past the embarrassment of that missed dunk in Cleveland in a national TV game against LeBron
