If we're starting new teams picking players that is a draft, is it not? Call it what you want.

Obviously you have to go by the info that you have right now on all, and that's what GM's get paid to do, to project the career of their player. Nobody skilled in these things would take Harris or Williams over Rose. Nobody. Sorry. At least that;s my opinion anyway.

All 3 players went as top 5 picks.

Any of them could have gone a little higher or lower than the other, it just depended on what the team's needs were and those above or below them drafting.

Obviously Chicago had the 1st pick, and needed a point guard.

Many thought Michael Beasley should have gone 1st overall, but of course Chicago was good to go at that position and once again, needed a PG.

One thing I will admit is what Rose did yesterday was impressive considering much of it was against Rondo.....

Maybe Rose been sandbagging all season. I think he just decided to find out how good he is. Kid just needs to realize how good he can be. Let's not forget he's only 20. He's a baby. How many kids came in at 20 or younger and dominated as a rookie, esp at the PG? I'm thinking none. Even Lebron wasn't quite Lebron yet as a rookie. Kobe, Garnett had quiet rookie seasons.

Lebron has always been Lebron .. His first game in the NBA at the ripe age of 18 years and 3 months , He put up 25 pts -9 assists -6 rebounds and 4 steals. His rookie season he averaged 21 pts , 6 assists and 5.5 boards .. at 18. Lebron got way better , and so will Rose ...

Deron Williams wasn't this good coming out Illinois and into the NBA.

Rose's talent speaks for itself. He missed a key FT last year or he is National Champ.

He can get to the rack on anybody, I don't believe that skill is going to diminish anytime soon.

I'm not trying to be disagreeable, but I disagree. Bulls had just signed a PG Hinrich to a long-term deal. Bulls "needed" a big man much more, but went with Rose because he was simply the best player. A lot of people thought they should have taken their bigger need instead, but at #1 you just go with who you think is the best and make it work.

Let me say something about Derrick Rose being here.It is a miracle or Destiny that he is a Bull.
God has sent the Bulls another player with God Given Talent from Chicago(so I dont think he`s going anywhere alla LBron). He is Humble and the kind of guy who will take a pay cut to win games. These players do not come around very often. He stepped up in the playoffs because thats what great players do.He is just a rookie and I hope he doesnt ride any motorcycles over the summer because I hope he can stay safe. Can you imagine what this guy can do when the bulls get more talent or grow up more.I email tyrus24 and told em to start the alley oop thing with em so look for that buddy thing to start. The lady at my health club asked me which B-Ball I wanted and I said you choose it for me,so she insisted #1-Go D-Rose

Look at his rookie numbers. Lebron shot under 42%. Hasn't shot under 47% since. He was still very good as a rookie obviously, but every stat from his rookie season is significantly worse than his stats every season since then. I can't recall any really good players stepping right in and being as good as a rookie as what they would become. Look at Kobe, Garnett, Paul, Williams, Wade, Howard....every one of them. They were good as rookies, but all got significantly better from their rookie season. Rose is at 16.8pts, 6.3ast, 3.9rebs. I think you can project that to at least probably 20, 8, 5 probably as soon as next season, if not better.

Wait until he's old enough to buy a drink and start tasting some white p$ssy ... We'll see how much of pay cut he takes ... He's gonna sign the biggest contract in the league for a PG in a few years and if another team offers him 10 mill more, I bet he takes it.

Now we find out if he is indeed the real deal. Boston will be doing a lot more double teaming and trapping. Not to mention being alot more aggressive and physical when he does get in the lane. He should be able to get his 15 points or so, but this is the game where he should be able to have about 15-20 assists as well. Hopefully Vinny has the foresite to make the adjustments based on how Doc will adjust.

Derrick Rose: Rose still not clicking for Bulls

The steals were a nice surprise, but Rose has yet to live up to the hype, or where he was drafted in fantasy leagues. You have to think his ankle is getting healthy and we expect him to turn it around in the very near future. Consider buying low on him, as his owners are probably getting tired of his struggles. Derrick Rose on fire for Bulls

He's hurt the Detroit Pistons from other spots on the United Center floor throughout his short career.
The Bulls guard will try to help his team extend its season-high six-game home win streak with a 10th straight victory over the Pistons on Monday night.
Rose made 15 of 19 free throws — both career highs — in a 90-79 victory over Atlantic Division-leading Boston on Saturday. His 36 points helped the Bulls (24-12) bounce back from consecutive road defeats to a pair of sub-.500 teams, New Jersey and Philadelphia.
While studying film recently, Rose noticed that he needed to get deeper in the lane on his drives to draw more fouls. He went a career best 10 for 10 from the line against the 76ers on Friday.
"Usually I just try to take off and avoid the contact or take off, and they block my shot or something," he said. "(I'm) just making sure I take my time in the hole and go up to their body first."
Any improvements for Rose could spell trouble for the Pistons, who have had plenty of problems defending him at the United Center. Rose scored a career high-tying 39 points in a 101-91 home win over Detroit on Oct. 30, going 13 of 27 from the floor and 10 of 13 on foul shots.
Rose has averaged 25.8 points in four career home games versus the Pistons, shooting 62.5 per cent from the field. That's helped the Bulls fashion nine-game win streaks against the Pistons both overall and at home.
The third-year guard and his team could be in for another big performance, as Detroit (12-24) has allowed 106.3 points over its last three games. The Pistons have dropped four straight on the road and have one win in their last 13 away games.
They managed to avoid a fourth consecutive loss with a 112-109 overtime victory over Philadelphia on Saturday. Austin Daye hit a tying 3-pointer with 3.5 seconds left in regulation and scored the first five points in the extra period.
Daye finished with 15 points, while fellow reserve Greg Monroe scored a career-high 16 and posted his second straight double-double.
"(The future) really looks good to me, but hopefully it looks good to (team president Joe Dumars)," Daye told the team's official website. "Joe's the one who drafted us ... and I bet he's pleased seeing us out there on the floor at the end of games, making plays." Tayshaun Prince led Detroit with 23 points in another strong shooting performance, and Rodney Stuckey had 20 after scoring a combined three points in his first two games back from illness.
Prince has shot 56.5 per cent over the past four games, although an 8-of-15 effort was not enough to help the Pistons end their skid against Chicago on Dec. 26.
Prince had 17 points to lead five Pistons in double figures, but Carlos Boozer scored 31 in a 95-92 overtime victory at The Palace of Auburn Hills.
Rose finished with 23 points despite missing 14 of 23 shots. He matched a career high with 12 rebounds and added eight assists.
The Bulls last won seven in a row at home March 24-April 11, 2009.

Derrick Rose in Attack Mode?

By*Will Gottlieb, today at 2:48 am

Derrick Rose began the season excruciatingly bad. Statistically one of the worst players in the league, Rose's poor performance could easily be summed up by his -5.32 RPM rating. Never a reliable outside shooting threat, he inexplicably struggled to convert shots at the rim. Without being able to draw very many free throw attempts, this unfortunate combination of results led to a frustratingly bad start.

But since the Christmas day game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, or his haircut or ditching his mask (pick a checkpoint, any checkpoint), Rose has become a real, NBA-level point guard. During the month of January, he upped his scoring to 17.6 points per game on 47.1 percent shooting (from his season average of 15.4 on 41.0 percent). *This spike in efficiency, however, has led to some false perceptions about his game. It seems as though the commentators covering every nationally televised game are astonished because Rose has finally begun to attack the basket rather than settle for jump shots. Is Rose really in full-on attack mode? Is he playing differently than he was to start the season?

Derrick continues to have issues with JiMMY BUTler being the real star on team. Derrick has no jumpshot, he still plays timid does not want to get injured and is playing for a max deal, the bulls will not sign him, we gave away a great coach and the team still is average.

New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose will miss the remainder of the season after tearing the meniscus in his left knee, the team announced Sunday.

</aside>Those close to Rose expect him to be at full health two months after the surgery, which will be scheduled shortly. Rose, 28, had played in 64 of the Knicks' 76 games this season.
Knee injuries have plagued the three-time All-Star and 2010-11 MVP in the past. Rose tore the ACL in his left knee during the 2012 playoffs and missed the entire following season. He then tore the meniscus in his right knee in his first season back from surgery, costing him the final 72 games.
Rose had missed the previous two games with what the team described as soreness and swelling. He said Wednesday that he initially felt the discomfort in his knee before the Knicks' win over the Pistons on Monday, in which he played 33 minutes and scored 27 points.
Rose said at the time that he didn't believe the injury was anything serious or would need to be surgically repaired. He had expected to return to the court shortly.
Rose and his agent, B.J. Armstrong, have both said publicly that Rose, who becomes a free agent this coming offseason, would like to return to New York.

</aside>The Knicks were upset with Rose over his decision to leave the team without explanation before an early January game against the New Orleans Pelicans because of what he called a "family issue." But prior to the injury, the Knicks hadn't ruled out the possibility of bringing Rose back for next season, according to sources. Rose averaged 18.0 points, 4.4 assists and 3.8 rebounds this season.
Knicks president Phil Jackson acquired Rose in a trade with the Bulls that also netted Justin Holiday. The Knicks sent the Bulls center Robin Lopez and guard Jerian Grant in the deal.
Jackson hoped that with Rose and free-agent signees Joakim Noah, Brandon Jennings and Courtney Lee on board, the Knicks could compete for a playoff spot.
That didn't materialize, as the Knicks entered Sunday's game against the Boston Celtics with a 29-47 record. They will miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season.
