Crowder definitely not filler. He shot 40% from 3 last year (by far a career high) on good volume and is a very good and versatile defender.

Those guys are worth their weight in gold right now with how much defensive versatility you need to play against the top teams. You want guys who can guard multiple positions and switch everything when it comes to pick and roll. And he signed his contract before he got good so he is on a very team friendly deal.

He's just the type of player that if he has to do anything other than what he is good at, he ends up looking severely limited and horrible.

Cleveland really needed a 2nd perimeter defender like him as well.

agree. Someone with more wingspan. Crowder plays defense when he wants to and he can hit the 3 but he is streaky. Something about his game rubs me the wrong way. Just feels like his effort isn't there sometimes or that he is mentally checked out. Maybe Lebron will get the most out of him. There's no going through the motions with Bron out there yelling in your ear.

I think it is a pretty solid deal for the C's as well. They didn't wanna pay IT the big $, Kyrie is 3 years younger so it is easier to pay him. Crowder is good but he plays the same position as Hayward and Brown is going to emerge sooner than later so they had a huge glut at forward. Also got Marcus Morris for 2 more years at a team friendly deal. So Crowder was looking at a reduced role.

Nets pick is just a ton to add into the deal as well, but at some point you do need some consolidation.

So I think on balance it is OK for the Celts, just pure value of all the pieces better for Cle (especially since Cle's status quo probably was going to result in them losing 1 of the best players of all time, so they needed something like this)

Trade works for both teams.

Boston gets a new lead guard who is 3 years younger and under team controlled contract for 2 years. Celtics better hope Smart and Rozier can produce in bigger roles. Boston is still needing an athletic big who will protect rim and get boards.

Cavs are getting a clutch scorer who will play great with Lebron. Crowder provides some nice depth on the wing. Nobody really knows how the euro kid will be in real games and the bk pick will be a good one in another very promising draft class. With Thomas being a free agent, Cavs have a season to see if James and him want to stay together for 4-5 more.

Great Trade for the both teams but the Cavs are not done dealing yet because I cant see the Cavs paying Thomas max money so I see them trading him at the deadline and that #1 pick from the Celtics thru the Nets was the key for the rebuild.

Irving is a young stud, the type of playet you need to win championships. Irving is one of the very best players in the league.

IT is an offensive star, a huuuuuge liability on defense (defense is important to Stevens's system). Crowder is a roll player, the draft pick is about youth and potential. The C's have enough bodies and are very young, I love the move.

Nets are better than you think. They played much better the 2nd half of the season last year and have gotten a little better talent wise in the off season.
Plus they have a very good coach.

I can see this pick being in the 6-10 range next year if things trend right.
The Lakers pick easily could be top 3 with how strong the west is going to be next year. Lakers will be a bottom 2 team out west...

Believe me Ainge would not have given up the Nets pick if he thought without a doubt it would be more valuable than the Lakers pick.

Think the Nets pick will not be higher than the Lakers. Think AInge is pretty smart when it comes to these things

Nets will likely have the lowest win total when they come out, but I do think it is possible the pick is more in the 6-8 range.

There are so many potential tanking East teams like ATL, Chi, NYK, Indy, Orl. And Nets have no reason to tank. If you've got young legs and you're trying to win every night then it is certainly possible you win 32 games when half your conference isn't trying to do the same.

If their win total is low 20's based on last year, it's a solid bet I'd say.

Nets unprotected first round pick. Lol Cleveland fleeced them. Yall are crazy. Good deal for Cleveland.

Can't wait for Lebron Vs Kyrie Eastern Conf finals
good deal for both sides

this was about as fair a trade danny ainge was ever gonna get
who cares if another team got butler for less. bulls wanted the nets and lakers pick, the #3 pick that turned into tatum, and fillers to match salary. if ainge gave the bulls that, that would have been an even greater "robbery"

Both teams will take time to adjust.

I think a healthy IT with Lebron and Love will be a nice group. He is great off the ball. Love and any other wing will have a lot of open looks. Although The hip has to be somewhat of a concern for Cavs.

Boston is essentially a new team. They could be great out the gate like the last Boston big 3 or have the expected growing pains. How Stevens and Irving find the right balance of ball movement vs him going ISO is going to be huge. IT bought into the system. They still never addressed the need of a big that can rebound and protect rim. If Nerlens Noel signs the team friendly deal currently being offered by Dallas and then with a really HUGE IF...can actually stay healthy he'd make an ideal big for Celtics to target during season.

The local sports talk show had Dan Shaughhnessy on from Boston and said there is concern that Isaiah Thomas Hip might not pass a physical

this is really a hard trade to really evaluate , my only observation about this would be
that the celtics front office is far more experienced than the cavs front office.
this would tend to support the conclusion that they would be less likely to make
a mistake or overpay in a trade of this magnitude.

Kyrie is by far the best player involved. With IT s hip and new contract, unless one of these one and dones turns out to be karl Malone, danny won this shit.
