Must win game and half the team is sitting as if they have something wrapped up...Christian Wood and Josh Green out for rest is the cherry on top. What? You can rest for a few months pretty soon.

If they don’t make the play-in they get top 10 pick, otherwise they lose it

Weird quirk of play-in. But I mean they suck so I would say it’s the right decision

Kyrie Irving (right foot injury recovery)
Josh Green (rest)
Tim Hardaway Jr. (left ankle soreness)
Maxi Kleber (right hamstring injury recovery)
Christian Wood (rest)
Will all miss tonight’s game against the Bulls.

They seem to be unsure if they want the play in or not

They are still -9 tonight. I assume Chicago is locked into the 10th seed

I don't know if this is true but I think it is a Slovenian holiday or something I read

Also, he probably doesn't wanna look like a bitch sitting when the season is still technically up for grabs

Ultimately, I assume Memph is gonna lay down Sunday for OKC so whether Dallas tries or not is probably moot.

Kyrie Irving among 5 Mavericks ruled out for must-win game.

DALLAS -- All-Star guard Kyrie Irving and four key Dallas Mavericks role players will sit out Friday night's home game against the Chicago Bulls, a game the Mavs must win to avoid being eliminated from the play-in scenario.
The team announced late Friday morning that Irving (right foot injury recovery), shooting guard Tim Hardaway Jr. (left ankle soreness), small forward Josh Green (rest), and power forward/centers Maxi Kleber (right hamstring injury recovery) and Christian Wood (rest) would sit out against the Bulls, essentially for precautionary reasons.
Dallas (38-42) is tied with the Bulls for the 10th-best lottery odds and owes the New York Knicks a top-10 protected pick as the final payment for the Kristaps Porzingis trade.
The Mavericks must win Friday night and Sunday afternoon against the San Antonio Spurs, and the Oklahoma City Thunder must lose at home Sunday to the Memphis Grizzlies, for Dallas to qualify for the play-in as the Western Conference's No. 10 seed.
All-Star guard Luka Doncic is listed as probable because of left thigh injury recovery. On Tuesday, Doncic publicly rejected the idea of sitting out down the stretch as a tanking measure to protect the Mavs' lottery position.
"When there's still a chance, I'm going to play," Doncic said Tuesday when asked about sitting out down the stretch. "So that's not going to happen yet."
Mavs governor Mark Cuban, who paid a $600,000 fine in 2018 for publicly admitting the Mavs were tanking, said Wednesday night that "of course I understand" the thought process from fans that protecting the lottery position is Dallas' smartest strategy down the stretch.
"The guys don't want to do that," Cuban said. "Players aren't going to do that. Players don't do that."

The likely reason why they are only playing Luka Doncic one quarter instead of just sitting him the whole game is because it’s Slovenia night.

Cuban was behind this. He will be fined but in my opinion he should be at the very minimum suspended for a year. This is worse than what the Sixers did during the process. This is trying to lose a game to not make the playoffs to keep a lottery pick. The Sixers built a roster to not compete but you knew that going in when the season started. The Sixers didn't try to throw games by sitting all their starters. Philadelphia tried to accumulate draft assets which is perfectly fine. To sit all your starters so you could keep a pick and not try to make the playoffs is literally criminal. No different than fixing a boxing match.

How about if you made a bet on the Mavericks to make the playoffs. The league is bed with the online sports books now. This attacks the very integrity of a wager. There will be an investigation into this but Adam Silver should have stepped in before the game was played. The Mavericks are going to use injury excuses for the players who sat out. That is not going to fly. I had no vested interest in the Mavs but I am fascinated how this is going to reflect on the NBA,

They were like 5% to make the playoffs even if they tried to, and that might be being generous. Doubt anyone cares.

No one cared when the Eagles just let the Skins into the playoffs with ya man Sudfeld a few years ago so they could get a higher draft pick, it makes news for a day, fun to talk about then life moves on. And that's the NFL and it was sunday night football, this is a sport that is trending toward MLB niche territory and some team that basically sucks.

I'd be surprised if it resonates much.

I don't think I have ever called a game rigged before but that game was as close as you will ever see...

I am shocked Kidd didn't interest himself and Cuban into the game at the end to insure the loss.

So then why did they sit 5 starters. The Bulls were trying to tank too. It's a joke.
