A lot of the guys people consider marginal HOF pitchers are in the .4-.6 range.

He had a ton of loses. Plenty of pitchers pitched on awful teams and didn't have a win % of 52%

Billy Pierce is the first one that comes to mind... The guy pitched on the worst hitting team in baseball for 13 years and still won 211 games and had a win% at 55...

And those White Sox teams were much worse then his teams...

As I said is the thing that sticks out most to me is the .38 that his ERA was lower then the leagues average throughout his whole career... That is minuscule for a guy with his stuff and a guy that was so dominant... That is nothing... I would be willing to bet that it is possible that is the lowest difference of any pitcher in the HOF... I am not positive but when you look at others you say full runs lower...

I mean someone said he was the most dominating pitcher they ever saw??? What about Pedro Martinez whose career ERA is nearly 2 points below the league averages... or Rogers that is nearly a run and a half below the average of his generation....

You and your Chicago stuff. :missingte :puke1:

I think he probably gets in eventually. Good pitcher, not great, but has the playoff legends that make for a hell of a story.

That is what I know best so that is what I throw out as examples... Pierce missed the HOF I believe by like 5 votes or something... He played on much worse teams but don't see the excuses being made there

ryan belongs in the hof but is very overrated
7 no hitters is nice and fun to watch but does not make him better than guys like clemens, maddux or johnson
Im not gonna judge someone by their 7 best games especially with something fluky like a no hitter
Jim Maloney had 3 so is he better than Clemens?
There are more than 4 cinches wilhelm
You left off Clemens and Johnson who are locks
If Pedro doesnt get in there shouldnt be a HOF
Some guys are so good looking at total wins or k's is reduculous
Koufax didnt have longevity but was so great he is a clear HOFer
Pedro has 3 Cy youngs and had a 7 year period where in 6 of the 7 years he had a Sub 2.4 era , in the other it was 2.8 and all but one of those years were in the AL in the steroid era
Wins and losses are a team stat anyway and a horrible way to judge indivudual pitchers
Jamie Moyer has more wins than Pedro, it doesnt make him better

The best guy to compare Schilling to is David Cone who I think is a notch below a hall of famer but an excellent clutch pitcher who I would want pitching for my team in game 7 of the WS

Also Im not arguing dominance
But dominant doesnt make you better than someone
How many guys in the last 20 years are more dominat than Greg Maddux? Probably half of the week. How many are better? Maybe 3 or 4?
