Who here studies energy?

I'd like to know their assessment of now and a year from now.

Could the big American oil companies actually be squashed by the Saudi / Russian clash? Unthinkable but could they?

i dont...but nothin goes down forever, chart is vomit material

https://www.5-tv.ru/news/289840/moz...l-sorokin-operspektivah-razvitia-rynka-nefti/

here's the Russian Deputy Energy Minister and this dude appears to Give No Fuck (unless he's got his best poker face on), to wait it out...let the dust settle.

The market is fast enough, well, it's not weeks or months, it's all the same from a year or more, but it can be balanced. And as soon as we begin to see the first signals of rebalancing, the price will begin to recover , ”the deputy minister said.

We believe that OPEC + alone cannot participate in balancing the market. The effect of the virus will be maximum, therefore, as many countries as possible should participate in this process. In the US, American oil companies lose 15-20 shale oil rigs each week. They will lose a lot, since the main problem for them is a decrease in activity. The market can start to balance quickly enough - the main thing is positive expectations , ”said Pavel Sorokin.

FWIW we had a meeting with one of the more prominent names in US banking. They're predicting this to have a larger impact on our country than 9/11 or Katrina. I know that's stating the obvious but puts it more into perspective when he started talking about extending shutdowns well past April and potentially through the end of the year.

Looks like we're shutting down indefinitely. For now we're looking at 6/1 as possible re-open. Working from home not too bad. Headquartered and largest employee concentration in NY so no real surprise there.

gettin' a pay check seldomseen, count your blessings :)

so something different happened today- BAD financial news ( work stoppage extended and hinted may last into June) and no sea of red, halting of indices. Rather the futures reversed and a strong green day remainig above the 8 ema.

if it can get above last week's high? would break the downward diagonal , buliish short term. May come back to test 2568. Either way a break of last week's high and stunningly 2750-2800 is in the cards. The running of the bulls.

crude oil, the lone wolf.......WTI CANNOT lose $19.19, forget it $17-$16 would be in the cards. The last time WTI closed above its 8 ema? Feb 21 , at $53.71. Its at about $20.50 ish. .....watching it....

Doug another company that has shined through this is ZOOM (zm). UP about 40% since Mar 1. They had tech issues today, perhaps too much volume...going to be a busy compnay going forward

Going to miss not wathcing this annual tournament ............................life is upside down.................a fuckin' microbe.......

i prefer to play etf's rather than individual stocks as i dont have the time/skills to do any fundamental analysis, even then it can largely be a crapshoot

with that said, one secotr i would not play an etf for swing trading is energy. Careful, look under the hood of the etf as i think this sector will have companies that likely arent going to survive. XLE (energy) is tryig to FINALLY reclaim its 8 ema, its above right now, the day is young

I think the EOQ pension buying ends tomorrow, tough to handicap the market with that type of bid put in.

the precious metals follow tech., pretty good. LARGE gap to fill on GLD. Likely to bounce off it ($146ish), havin an eye for entry...its likely to lose her 8 ema today unless a violent rebound into the close

shits amd giggles

the last 5 trading days on the ES has formed a box, if u will. Anyone playing, needs two levels to watch, imo . A break of either and we r no longer in the box. So a break above the top end, crazy danger for shorters. A break below the box and longs are in harm's way

top of the box: 2643ish
bottom of the box: 2460 ish

CRAZY wide range, lol. truly unreal

also the SPY is STILL ABOVE its 8 ema

my 2 cents, and enough from me!!

just trading stuff/levels on the ES, nothign hard once you're familar. Addicted to this shit. Anyway, kinda posting to myself , i'll give it a rest....

a sentiment from another forum. This guy in the bull camp?.........

- This economy is going to hell, and we ain't coming out anytime soon. Storefronts are boarding up in Hollywood, big business are drawing down on their credit lines. We may have a Mad Max situation. Only thing I would be buying is the dollar, gold, long term food storage, and guns. You could buy gun stocks, and short the market because it's going down.

keep an eye on oil, chart is basing. Russia/USA spoke .....and now this;

...............

Trump on Monday said Saudi Arabia and Russia "both went crazy" with their production after the supply deal failed. "I never thought I'd be saying that maybe we have to have an oil (price) increase, because we do," :) he said.
The Trump administration is trying to persuade Saudi Arabia, the world's top oil exporter, to cut crude output. It will soon send a special energy envoy, Victoria Coates, to the kingdom.
The Kremlin said on Wednesday that Russia and Saudi Arabia were not holding talks regarding the oil market at the moment and Russian President Vladimir Putin had no immediate plans to have a phone call with Saudi leadership

Still think the market is going down....the market is forward thinking....but the bad news is still mounting. I think the length of the virus problem is going to drag out and not end quickly. This will mount the problem.

Out of boredom as much as anything else I dipped my toes into the market the last week on some stuff I think will not follow the market.

yup ,snoop echoed that sentiment ; 'the market is at the mercy of the virus'. The longer this plays out?..hard to make a bull argument if folks r sitting home come 3 mths from now. That is one fuckin scary picture . Dunno.......... In the trading world there's a great adage , and in times like these its esp., important --'trade what you see not what you think' .

how's the state of Minnesota making out ? 'non-essential' open?

The bull argument is the gov't is gonna find a variety of ways to print a lot of money. We'll see how that works.

But it is becoming clearer and clearer that the probability of masks or social distancing going away in the next 30-60 days is getting lower by the day.

Most people don't follow the news cycle, hearing the President say the 100-240k number was really the first time they processed the seriousness of the issue. I think until there is a vaccine, you're not going to get a confident consumer. That's just my preliminary thinking, as far as various sectors go, there are a lot of trade offs people will make and they will find out that they are fine with them. Thus putting more deflationary pressure on the economy.

Non-essential is not open.

I think our governor has done a good job. I also believe him when he says things on his updates like today. We only have enough supplies to do 490 tests. Just another example of how far we are to the end.

Personally I may not leave the house for the next 2 weeks other than to walk the dog around the block. Definitely getting bored. I wish they would allow the golf courses to open. Then it wouldnt be quite so boring.
