This man ran the show. Was basically the coach and QB. He was a cerebral assassin and what incredible odds he beat to beat the genius coach BILL in those epic matchups against coach Bill and those great Patriots teams of the past (and Brady too I guess)

You guys want to respect the game then try to learn what makes a QB great. You guys keep leaving out coach Bill's excellent defense and schemes/system and forget who the real GOATS played for and what defenses they've had.

Goodnight then.

Anybody that thinks Tom Brady is the greatest of all time doesn't know football. He's barely the greatest right now of the past few years. Lol. Now the Patriots? Coach Bill and the team/system they've had all these years. Fantastic.

I do find it funny that every time the Patriots struggle a little or lose a game early in the season all the talk begins about this is the beginning of the end for them. Meanwhile they are just adjusting their game and getting a few key players back. I mean how good will this team be when Edelman is back and Gordon is incorporated into the system. Hate to say it but they might be Superbowl bound again. Hope not though. Hope it's Ravens or Steelers out of the AFC. Rams might have a shot but I don't like them either. They are fun to watch though.

I digress, Tom Brady is not the greatest of all time lol. But I hope and assume you mean that as an obviously bias and comical kind of way.

Well the Patriots may have won, but that game last night was not some shining moment for Brady (and hardly a game I would be taunting as him being the Greatest of all Time). Maybe we were watching different games. Stalled at the goal line twice, a string of 7 passes with only one completion, and the biggest play of the game had little to do with him. I'll be the first to give him his props when merited, but if I was going to make a case for the GOAT from yesterday's games, it would go to Drew Brees.

Man, you have to do a lot of dancing in this post my friend, did you get fudge packered last night? :)

And when talking about the GOAT, it's not about a day or a game or a couple of goal line stands, it's not even about 8 or so games, it's about a career, don't go JC on us :)

PS: it wasn't a great game for Brady, I concur, just another WIN BABY

I think you missed the point completely. This is a situation where someone is top posting a GOAT thread for what would be considered a subpar game by Brady. This is not about his collective group of work (which I stated, I will definitely give props to that). As we both agree, it wasn't a great game by him. That was a game where you give props to the team. Brady was off last night and there were a lot of people that stepped up their game. I like to direct the accolades to where it's due. How about we give the game ball to Patterson this time and stop worrying about the GOAT for one game. Fair enough?

P.S. And in fairness, to address your other point, yeah....I had the over, so can't say that I'm pleased about all the missed scoring opportunities.

1. The tuck rule saved Brady's ass that Superbowl or he never wins it. Lol.

It just absolutely kills Peyton fanboy road2perdition that Brady has already gone down in history as better than his hero.

Road2, you can sit here and type for hours, but your blather isn't going to change the fact that your hero just wasn't good enough.

Fact is, your hero Peyton was one of the biggest chokers in NFL history, I know it absolutely kills you to read that, but deep down in
your soul, you know it's true. Bleacher Report lists your hero as the 13th biggest choker artist in NFL history. ROFL.

Peyton Manning may be considered one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, but he'll forever be known as a choker—even with his Super Bowl XLI ring.

Manning's playoff record is absolutely horrific as he's only won nine of his 19 games—which is just one game short of being .500.
I'm sorry, but a quarterback of his caliber, he should have won far more than just one Super Bowl, no matter how average the team is around him.

Manning (12-13) has the most playoff losses in NFL history, including nine one-and-done postseasons.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Bill Belichick was shaking his head and speaking with almost reverent exasperation about a certain quarterback he had just spent more than three hours admiring.
He's just so good, Belichick said. So tough. So hard to get.
The winning coach was talking about the losing quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Belichick was legitimately in awe of an opponent his defense had just held to 17 points, and for good reason. Rodgers made some plays and some throws in Green Bay's loss to New England that maybe only two or three quarterbacks in NFL history would even attempt.
<aside class="inline float-r inline-track">NFL scores, standings and more

</aside>But even on a night he spent scuffling without Rob Gronkowski in the lineup, a night he spent watching Julian Edelman throw the prettiest Patriots pass, Tom Brady once again showed he has the most important talent an athlete can have -- the talent for winning. Before beating the more physically gifted Rodgers, Brady had already won far more regular-season games (202) and postseason games (27) than anyone who ever played his position. It was fitting that in Rodgers' presence, Brady broke a record held by another rival, Peyton Manning, in becoming the first NFL player to amass more than 80,000 total yards (passing, rushing and receiving) in his career, postseason included.
"These are all team awards," Brady protested afterward.

So are the record five Super Bowl trophies, of course. And yet there's a reason why the only coach in the building holding his sport's most recently awarded trophy, Alex Cora of the Boston Red Sox, looked like a 12-year-old when he posed for a pregame selfie with Brady, after joining some of his ballplayers for a duck boat ride into Gillette Stadium.

It didn't matter that he looked all of 41 years old on some snaps against Green Bay or that converted running back <a href="http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15807/cordarrelle-patterson" target="_blank">Cordarrelle Patterson might've been the most valuable Patriot stationed behind center.
Brady completed the pass that sealed the deal, a 55-yard scoring strike to <a href="http://www.espn.com/nfl/player/_/id/15705/josh-gordon" target="_blank">Josh Gordon in the middle of the fourth quarter that secured his team's sixth straight victory and reintroduced New England as a serious threat to win its sixth Super Bowl title -- and its third over the past five years.
"He's had an incredible career," Rodgers said of Brady, "been the gold standard at quarterback for the better part of two decades and he's a great player."
<aside class="inline editorial float-r" data-behavior="article_related">

</aside>With the score at 17-17 in the third quarter, Rodgers was winning the box score battle with two touchdowns to Brady's none and with a passer rating of 97.4 to Brady's 85.7. By game's end, Brady had a 99.0 rating to Rodgers' 89.2, 294 passing yards to Rodgers' 259 and, of greater consequence, 31 points for his team to Rodgers' 17.
If you believe Brady wasn't driven Sunday night to avoid going 0-2 against Rodgers -- he had lost their <a href="http://www.espn.com/nfl/game?gameId=400554371" target="_blank">only duel at Lambeau Field in 2014 -- especially given that this might go down as their final meeting, then you don't know what makes the greats so great in the first place.
Then you don't know why Brady didn't talk to his friend, Rodgers, during the week, and didn't play along Friday -- at the end of a long week hearing about his opponent's clear advantage in athleticism and arm talent -- when news conference questioning veered into a mini-referendum on his supposed physical shortcomings.
Do you ever in your mind wish you could give up some of your arm for Aaron Rodgers' legs? Brady was asked.
"No, I don't think about giving my arms up," he responded.
Would you like to have his mobility?
"I'd love to move as best as I possibly can," Brady answered. "But God gave me this body and trying to use it the best I can to help us win."
Brady rarely says much of substance for public consumption, so it's always a good idea to examine what he doesn't say rather than what he does. He didn't mention Rodgers in either answer, and Brady didn't say he would trade any of his tools for any of Rogers', either.

He has some pretty damn good physical ability too.
On Sunday night, it was a fact that Brady needed a lot of help to get to 1-1 against Rodgers. With Green Bay driving toward a potential go-ahead score, with Rodgers catching fire on absurd back-to-back passes to Marquez Valdes-Scantling that blew away Belichick, Aaron Jones' fumble on the first play of the fourth quarter dramatically changed the game. So did Edelman's pass across the field to James White, who ran 37 yards to the Green Bay 2-yard line.
Belichick helped Brady too by making Patterson his featured running back and advancing his long and decorated history of putting players in positions they didn't necessarily sign up to play. Brian Flores, the de-facto defensive coordinator, did his part by piecing together a game plan that kept the Packers from even scoring 20 points.
But Brady still had to be Brady in the end and make a play that built a lead even Rodgers couldn't threaten. In the process, just for punctuation, Brady also beat Peyton Manning.

Bill Belichick talks about the Patriots' 31-17 win over the Packers, and praises Tom Brady for becoming the NFL's all-time yards leader.

<article class="ad-300"></article>"It's unbelievable," Belichick said of his own guy, after he was done raving about Rodgers. "Tom's had a tremendous career, and I'm so fortunate that I've been able to coach him. ... He's earned it. Nobody has given him anything. ... You're talking about a lot of great, great, great quarterbacks, great players that he's ahead of. It's certainly a testament to him and the longevity and productivity in his great career. Hopefully, he just keeps stacking them up."
In his 260th regular-season start, Brady nailed down his 203rd regular-season victory, or 17 more than Manning managed in 265 starts. Team awards, Brady called them. "I certainly can't throw it to myself," he said.
But since 2001, Brady has thrown it more successfully than any quarterback ever has.
Aaron Rodgers will always have greater talent.

Tom Brady will always have a greater talent for winning.

Zit, your guy lost to Nick Foles LOL and Eli Manning LOL. He would've lost to Seattle if Butler didn't bail him out and if Falcons didn't choke.

You don't understand football. You think just cause Patriots win it's all due to Tom Brady. Tom Brady has had some of the best defenses in his early championships. He's had Gronk and most significant of all he's had the genius Bellicheck.

Who has Peyton had? Or Aaron Rodger's clown of a coach? Lol.

Peyton choked? More like carried an average team to winning season after winning season consistently making the playoffs which they had no business doing. The fact that he's won a championship shows how great he really is. The GOAT Peyton Manning had to basically run the team or at least the offense on the field. Brady on the other hand has the system and Bill running the show. This makes a huge difference. You don't understand football and clearly never played. You're one of those water cooler eating up whatever ESPN tells you or using your limited knowledge of the game to come to your preposterous stance about Brady and Peyton lol.

How did the Colts or Packers do without Peyton and Aaron respectively? Now tell me how the Patriots did without Brady...Lol. Tell you most of what you need to know.

Brady is overrated and you put Peyton, Rodgers or even Drew Brees on those Patriots teams and they have just as many championships if not 1 or 2 more.

Matt Casel goes 11-5 with the Patriots...:):)

Patriots and coach Bill=fantastic.

Tom Brady=great but not the GOAT. But most sports fans don't know enough to understand this. They don't understand sports enough and that's ok. I like your passion for your guy. It's all good.

I know you won't understand or try to understand if I teach you so won't bother wasting anymore time than I have already..

Good day.

cheersgif

BONUS LEARNING TIME!

All said and done the Tom Brady and the Patriots, whenever they are discussed, there will always be the cloud of cheating hanging over their heads. It will always be mentioned. Even my notes about him being injured and Matt Cassel going 11-5 in his place, or Seattle with that monumental mistake and gift to the Patriots, the greatness of coach Bill, Brady losing to Eli with a team that was great enough to go undefeated, losing to back up Foles and just the fact that he's a sore loser and fake, rotten person. All these things will always be mentioned lol. That must more than irk you a little...

Peyton Manning=class act, carried a weak team to the playoffs season after season and even won a championship with them. I can more than happily live with that whether he's known as the GOAT or not. Also, your guys' fans and ESPN etc are living in the moment and after he retires and fades in memories he'll drop in the talk of being the GOAT and people will think more sensibly and realistically. Not to mention the talk of all the cheating will always loom over him....

Okay then. Bonus learning time over.

Goodnight! Lol.

There would be no debate if Wilson hands off to Lynch.....Wilson would have been in the conversation as being better than Brady with back to back Super Bowls.....

Petey just made Brady's legacy.....

Lol. Not to mention Brady losing to Eli twice, one of those losses with a team that was great enough to go undefeated.

John Elway, Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and maybe a couple others all better than Brady. Anybody that understands football understands this.

Matt Cassel=11-5 with that Patriots team. LOL.

Does anybody know how many times Patriots starting fumbling at home AFTER Deflategate? Hmm..I don't know the answer to this just curious.

But the rest of my points are facts.

Peyton Manning beat Brady AND that great system and legendary coach Bill in 3 AFC championships! Brady lost to back up Foles LOL.

Okay then. Bonus learning time over. Listen Zit, I guarantee you I've watched more games of Peyton, Rodgers and Brady throughout the years. You are the typical water cooler fan that catches some highlights or watched some games here n there but don't actually watch enough football or understand it to debate with people about it. If you've ACTUALLY WATCHED Peyton play, actually watched Aaron Rodgers play throughout the years you'd understand why they are both better than Brady.

Peyton and Brees and Rodgers throwing bombs throughout their careers, carrying weak teams and moron coaches and Brady with his little dink and dunk excellent system and excellent coach is the GOAT? LOL.

Matt Cassel =11-5 ends all talk of Brady being the GOAT lol. Tom Brady is the product of the epic system he is in. He's great but you don't understand football to think he's the GOAT. Put any of the above QBS on those Patriots teams and they have just as many Championships but probably 1 or 2 more.
