Game of the Day: Reds at Brewers
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cincinnati Reds at Milwaukee Brewers (-144, 7.5)

The Cincinnati Reds will attempt to avoid a winless road trip upon resuming play after the All-Star break when they close a three-game series in Milwaukee against the Brewers on Wednesday. The Reds have lost five straight games – scoring 11 total runs – as they have staggered coming out of the break. Milwaukee has put a stretch in which it lost 11 of 12 in the rear-view mirror as Tuesday’s 4-3 walk-off victory was its fourth in six games.

Brewers All-Star catcher Jonathan Lucroy hit two solo homers – including the game-winning blast in the ninth – Tuesday for his first homers since July 4. Ryan Braun and Aramis Ramirez hit back-to-back solo shots in the first inning and Braun has gone 16-for-39 with two homers and eight RBIs during a 10-game hitting streak. The Reds have lost eight consecutive road games since winning at San Francisco on June 29.

TV:
2:10 p.m. ET, MLB Network, FSN Ohio (Cincinnati)

LINE HISTORY:
Books opened the Brewers as -152 favorites, but that has moved to -144. The total has held at 7.5.

POWER RANKINGS:

INJURY REPORT:

PITCHING MATCHUP:

Leake has allowed four runs in each of his last two outings and has given up 37 hits in 25 2/3 innings over his past four turns. He has split two 2014 decisions with the Brewers and recorded the victory June 15 despite being touched up for four runs and nine hits over five innings. He is 2-1 with a 4.43 ERA in seven career starts against Milwaukee.

Lohse snapped a three-start winless stretch by defeating Washington on July 18. He allowed just one run in seven innings while notching the victory but gave up a season-worst 10 hits. Lohse is 0-1 with a 3.97 ERA in two starts against Cincinnati this season and possesses a 5-5 mark and 3.01 ERA over 17 career outings against the Reds.

MLB betting cheat sheet: Jays, Red Sox Continue Over Trend
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jays, Red Sox Continue Over Trend

A late two-run homer from Stephen Drew didn't mean much to the Red Sox in a 7-3 loss to Toronto, but it did send the total Over for the fifth straight time in the head-to-head series. The teams are 6-1-1 O/U for the season.

Jesse a Giant Favorite

Oakland right-hander Jesse Chavez will look to continue his hot streak as a favorite Wednesday, entering at -255 when the Athletics host the Houston Astros. Chavez is 5-0 against the moneyline in his last five starts as a favorite, with three of those results coming at home.

Gee No Whiz vs. Brewers

New York Mets right-hander Dillon Gee may have his hands full Thursday night as he faces the host Milwaukee Brewers. Gee has yet to beat the Brewers in his career, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in three starts.

Pitching Notes

* San Francisco ace Madison Bumgarner hopes to maintain his dominance away from AT&T Park on Wednesday as he leads the Giants (-140, 7.5) into Philadelphia. Bumgarner is 7-2 with a scintillating 1.94 ERA in 11 road starts so far this season.

* New York Yankees righty Brandon McCarthy has adjusted well to his move to the Bronx as he prepares to face the visiting Texas Rangers on Thursday. McCarthy was the worst value pitcher in baseball while with Arizona, but is 2-0 against the moneyline in two starts since being traded.

Hitting Notes

* Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera is heating up, recording three three-hit games in his last four outings to raise his average to .309. The Blue Jays are 22-15 against the moneyline and 21-16 O/U when Cabrera records a multi-hit game entering Wednesday's game against Boston.

* San Francisco catcher Buster Posey has owned his career matchup with Philadephia lefty Cole Hamels, who gets the call Thursday against the visiting Giants. Posey is 7-for-11 versus Hamels, with four doubles and a home run.

Totals Streak

New York Yankees (7-1 O/U): The pitching has thrived even without injured ace CC Sabathia, limiting opponents to three runs or fewer in seven of the last eight games. The recent Under streak has dropped the Yankees to 43-55-1 O/U for the season.

Prop of the Day

It's one of the longest shots of the day, but it may be worth taking a flyer on the Nationals and Rockies to play to a push (+1,000). The Rockies rank second in the majors with nine pushes, while the Nationals and Pirates are tied with eight apiece.

Injury Notes

* Houston Astros oufielder George Springer missed his second straight game with knee and quad injuries. The Astros have struggled without their hard-hitting rookie, going 1-4 against the moneyline and 1-3-1 O/U in his absence entering Tuesday's game against host Oakland.

* The Colorado Rockies have placed shortstop Troy Tulowitzki on the 15-day disabled list with a left hip flexor strain. Tulowitzki has fought through a variety of ailments this season, missing time earlier in the year with quad and groin injuries.

Check out the wind conditions at Wrigley

The San Diego Padres and Chicago Cubs will conclude their three-game series at Wrigley Field Wednesday, and the players will have to deal with some windy conditions.

According to DailyBaseballData.com, wind will blow in from left field at roughly 16 mph. The Cubs are 2-6 at Wrigley when the wind blows in from left and the Over/Under record is 5-3.

The Cubbies are currently -109 home faves and the total is off the board.

Not many runs in recent Reds-Brewers meetings

The Under is 5-0 in the past five meetings between the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers. The two N.L. Central rivals finish up their three-game set at Miller Park Wednesday.

The past five matchups between the two teams have yielded a total of 27 runs - which equates to an average of 5.4 runs per game.

Mike Leake is slated to get the start for the Reds while Kyle Lohse will counter for the Brewers.

Game roundup: Headley lifts Yankees past Rangers in 14

NEW YORK
-- Chase Headley came through in his fourth at-bat as a Yankee, hitting a game-winning single in the 14th inning as New York outlasted the Texas Rangers for a 2-1 victory Tuesday night at Yankee Stadium.

The switch-hitting third baseman entered the game as a pinch hitter for Zelous Wheeler in the eighth and was hitless in his first three at-bats. With runners at first and third in the 14th, Headley singled into left field against Nick Tepesch (3-6). Yankees second baseman Brian Roberts easily scored, ending the 4-hour, 51-minute marathon.

After rounding first base, Headley was mobbed by his teammates, whom he met 4 1/2 hours earlier after being acquired from the San Diego Padres and flying in from Chicago. While doing his postgame interview, he was given a Gatorade shower by left fielder Brett Gardner.

The Yankees won for the 10th time in 16 games and improved to 4-1 on a 10-game homestand thanks to their third walk-off win of the season. They did so after tying the game in the 13th against Texas closer Joakim Soria on a base hit by Carlos Beltran.

Giants 9, Phillies 6 (14 innings)

PHILADELPHIA
-- Brandon Crawford's three-run, 14th-inning double broke a 5-5 tie and sparked San Francisco past Philadelphia.

Catcher Hector Sanchez knocked in Crawford with a single.

The Phillies led 5-4 going into the ninth, but Giants first baseman Buster Posey tied the game with a solo homer to left off closer Jonathan Papelbon. It was Papelbon's third blown save in 26 opportunities this year.

George Kontos (3-0) won for the second night in a row, pitching 2 1/3 innings and allowing a run in the 14th. Tim Lincecum recorded the last two outs for his first-ever save. He was the ninth pitcher used by the Giants.

Brewers 4, Reds 3

MILWAUKEE
-- Jonathan Lucroy hit two home runs, including a walk-off, solo shot in the ninth inning, as Milwaukee rallied to beat Cincinnati.

Lucroy gave Milwaukee a 3-1 lead in the sixth with a two-out homer off right-hander Homer Bailey, but Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson couldn't preserve the lead in the seventh. Nelson hit Zack Cozart with a pitch to load the bases, and then plunked Ramon Santiago to make it 3-2 before giving way to right-hander Brandon Kinztler. Pinch hitter Chris Heisey delivered a game-tying sacrifice fly.

Lucroy finally broke the deadlock on a 1-1 offering from right-hander Sam LeCure (1-2).

Cubs 6, Padres 0

CHICAGO
-- Anthony Rizzo hit two solo home runs, and right-hander Kyle Hendricks worked seven efficient innings for his first major league victory as Chicago snapped a five-game losing streak with a shutout of San Diego.

Hendricks (1-0), called up from Triple-A Iowa earlier in the day, allowed five hits in seven innings in his second big league start.

Rizzo made it 2-0 in the third with a leadoff, first-pitch shot to the back of the right-field bleachers. Rizzo homered off right-handed reliever Blaine Boyer in the seventh inning, giving him his seventh career multi-homer game. He leads the National League with 25 homers.

Pirates 12, Dodgers 7

PITTSBURGH
-- Ike Davis had three hits, including his first home run since June 9, and Gregory Polanco and Neil Walker also homered and drove in three runs each as Pittsburgh outlasted Los Angeles.

Polanco, a rookie right fielder, delivered the big blow, a two-run single with two outs in the sixth inning off reliever Jamey Wright that snapped a 4-4 tied and keyed a four-run inning. Travis Snider singled in a run and Polanco scored on a wild pitch by Wright.

Pirates starter Vance Worley (3-1) got the win as he pitched six innings and gave up four runs -- one earned -- and seven hits while striking out five and walking two. It was the right-hander's first career victory against the Dodgers after giving up a combined nine runs in eight innings in his previous two starts.

Blue Jays 7, Red Sox 3

TORONTO
-- Jose Reyes and Dioner Navarro homered in the sixth inning, and J.A. Happ pitched six shutout innings as Toronto snapped Boston's five-game winning streak.

Happ (8-5) held Boston to seven hits and one walk while striking out four in six innings.

The Blue Jays used a pair of homers to score three runs in the sixth and take a 4-0 lead. Reyes led off with his eighth homer of the season. Melky Cabrera followed with a double and took third on Jose Bautista's fly out to right. Navarro then hit his seventh homer of the season.

Marlins 6, Braves 5

ATLANTA
-- Donovan Solano had a career-best four hits, and Jacob Turner, banished to the bullpen in early June, was successful in his return to the rotation as Miami held on to beat Atlanta.

Solano, a second baseman who came in batting .234, had three singles, a double and a walk in a 4-for-4 game.

The Braves scored three times in the eighth inning, but Marlins closer Steve Cishek pitched a scoreless ninth for his 23rd save in 26 opportunities. He was helped by catcher Jeff Mathis throwing out pinch runner Jordan Schafer, who had been successful on 17 of his previous 18 steal attempts.

Indians 8, Twins 2

MINNEAPOLIS
-- Cleveland got four hits from first baseman Carlos Santana, including a home run, in a win over Minnesota.

Santana doubled in the second inning and scored the game's first run later in the frame. He bunted for a single against the shift in the third, then hit a mammoth home run in the fifth inning. He doubled again in the ninth to drive in the final two runs of the game for the Indians.

Cleveland right-hander Danny Salazar allowed one run on six hits and three walks in five innings, earning the win and improving to 2-4.

Rays 7, Cardinals 2

ST. LOUIS
-- Tampa Bay extended its season-high winning streak to six games at the expense of St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright, who was knocked out after just 4 2/3 innings.

In his first start since the All-Star break, Wainwright (12-5) gave up six hits and six runs, two of which were unearned thanks to his fielding error in the fifth. He walked four, including three in the fifth, struck out four and hit a man in his second-shortest outing of the year.

Six players knocked in runs for Tampa Bay, with Evan Longoria capping the scoring with a two-out solo homer in the ninth. Left fielder Matt Holliday supplied a solo homer in the sixth to cap St. Louis' scoring.

Royals 7, White Sox 1

CHICAGO
-- Mike Moustakas celebrated Greek Heritage Night with two home runs, helping Kansas City beat Chicago and snap a four-game losing streak.

The Royals, who hadn't won since the All-Star break, scored four runs in the sixth inning and amassed 14 hits. Kansas City had scored two combined runs in the previous three games.

Left-hander Bruce Chen (2-2), filling the rotation spot of injured left-hander Jason Vargas, went five innings and earned his second win against Chicago this season. Moustakas finished 3-for-5, belting his 11th and 12th homers.

Nationals 7, Rockies 4

DENVER
-- Adam LaRoche's three-run shot in the seventh off Rex Brothers broke a 4-4 tie, and Washington sent Colorado to its seventh consecutive loss.

Brothers was brought in to face the left-handed-hitting LaRoche, who had not hit a home run in 80 at-bats against left-handers this season and was batting .238 (19-for-80) against southpaws. LaRoche drove a 2-0 fastball to right-center for his 13th homer of the season.

The Rockies built an early 3-0 lead against starter Jordan Zimmermann and were ahead 4-2 when the right-hander left after the fifth.

Diamondbacks 5, Tigers 4

PHOENIX
-- Miguel Montero hit a two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning, and Aaron Hill homered and had three RBIs as Arizona beat Detroit.

Ender Inciarte and David Peralta walked with one out in the eighth inning off Phil Coke (1-2) before Al Alburquerque entered and walked Paul Goldschmidt on four pitches with two outs. Montero, who leads major league catchers with 58 RBIs, then delivered his single to knock in Inciarte and Peralta.

Hill homered in the first inning and followed Peralta triples in the third and sixth innings with RBIs -- a sacrifice fly in the third and a groundout in the sixth.

Mets 3, Mariners 1

SEATTLE --
Starter Jacob deGrom scattered five hits over seven innings, and Lucas Duda provided a cushion with an eighth-inning home run that went 446 feet as New York beat Seattle.

DeGrom (4-5) allowed one earned run while striking out seven to give the Mets their first win at Safeco Field, where New York had lost its previous four games -- including a three-game sweep in 2005.

This was the third consecutive start in which deGrom has gone seven innings. He has not allowed more than one run in any of the three.

Orioles 4, Angels 2

ANAHEIM, Calif.
-- Right-hander Miguel Gonzalez pitched 7 2/3 shutout innings and permitted just three hits in leading Baltimore over Los Angeles.

Gonzalez (5-5), recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Norfolk, did not allow a run until center fielder Mike Trout hit a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Gonzalez finished with five strikeouts and four walks while generating nine groundouts.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy and second baseman Jonathan Schoop drove in two runs apiece while going 2-for-4. Hardy hit two doubles and Schoop pounded a two-run home run.

Astros 3, A's 2 (12 innings)

OAKLAND, Calif.
-- L.J. Hoes lined a tie-breaking solo home run with one out in the top of the 12th inning, and Houston held on to beat Oakland.

Hoes ripped left-handed reliever Fernando Abad's first pitch to left field for his third home run of the season. He entered the game batting .176 and went hitless in his first four at-bats before homering off Abad (2-4), who took the loss,

Left-hander Darin Downs (2-1) recorded one out to earn the win. Chad Qualls pitched a perfect 12th for his 11th save of the season.

Indians winning recent Bauer starts

The Cleveland Indians have been playing some good baseball of late, sitting second in the AL Central and winning seven of their last 10 ball games. They'll look to put together back-to-back wins Wednesday with Trevor Bauer on the mound.

The Indians are 4-0 in Bauer's last four starts this season and three of those sports saw the Indians as dogs. The Indians are in Minnesota to face the Twins Wednesday and are -125 road faves.

Anthony Swarzak is slated to get the ball for the Twins.

Wednesday's Tip Sheet

July 23, 2014

Dodgers at Pirates – 7:05 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
LAD: Haren (8-7, 4.30 ERA)
PIT: Liriano (1-7, 4.43 ERA)

Series recap: These two teams split the first two games, as the Pirates held off the Dodgers last night, 12-7 to cash as -115 favorites. Los Angeles captured Monday’s opener, 5-2 as a short underdog, but the Pirates own a 4-2 record against the Dodgers this season.

What to watch for: The Dodgers have performed well in series finales of late, winning seven of the past nine in this situation. Los Angeles is winless in Haren’s last three starts, while the Dodgers are 6-2 to the ‘over’ in his past eight trips to the mound. One of Liriano’s best outings of the season came at Chavez Ravine in late May, as the southpaw tossed 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball in a 2-1 road victory.

Giants at Phillies – 7:05 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
SF: Bumgarner (11-7, 3.38 ERA)
PHI: Burnett (6-9, 4.08 ERA)

Series recap: The Giants have remained hot in the second half by capturing the opening two contests at Citizens Bank Park to improve to 4-1 the last five games. On Tuesday, San Francisco held off Philadelphia in 14 innings, 9-6 to pick up its fourth straight road victory in this series dating back to last July.

What to watch for: San Francisco is nearly automatic with Bumgarner on the mound away from AT&T Park, as the team has put together an 8-3 mark in his 11 road starts, including a blowout of Miami in his last outing. Also, the Giants have hit the ‘over’ in five consecutive starts made by Bumgarner, as the first two games of this series has seen the ‘over’ connect. The Phillies have dropped eight of their last nine home contests, while the ‘over’ is 4-0 in Burnett’s past four trips to the mound.

Red Sox at Blue Jays – 7:05 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
BOS: Buchholz (5-5, 5.46 ERA)
TOR: Dickey (7-10, 3.95 ERA)

Series recap: These two clubs have exchanged blowouts in the first two contests, as Toronto topped Boston on Tuesday, 7-3 as +110 underdogs. The victory snapped Boston’s five-game winning streak, while the Jays won for the third time in four contests. The ‘over’ has cashed in five straight meetings between these division rivals, while the victorious squad in all eight matchups this season has scored at least six runs.

What to watch for: Toronto has dropped six of the last seven starts made by Dickey, while the ‘under’ is 7-1 in the knuckleballer’s past eight trips to the mound. The Sox have won each of Buchholz’s previous three away starts, while Boston owns an 8-0 record in Buchholz’s last eight starts against Toronto at Rogers Center since 2009.

Rays at Cardinals – 7:15 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
TB: Cobb (5-6, 4.08 ERA)
STL: Lynn (11-6, 3.13 ERA)

Series recap: The Rays stayed red-hot after a horrible June as Tampa Bay destroyed St. Louis last night, 7-2 to cash as +135 underdogs. Tampa Bay has won six consecutive games, while improving to 12-1 in its past 13 road contests.

What to watch for: Everything is going right for the Rays at the moment, who look for their sixth straight win in Game 2 of a series on Wednesday. The Cardinals have struggled at home against National League foes, posting a 1-5 record this season. The ‘under’ is 7-1 in Lynn’s past eight trips to the mound, while St. Louis owns an 8-3 record in his 11 home starts.

Orioles at Angels – 10:05 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
BAL: Tillman (7-5, 4.03 ERA)
LAA: Weaver (10-6, 3.43 ERA)

Series recap: The Angels suffered consecutive home losses for the first time in over two months after Baltimore defeated Los Angeles on Tuesday, 4-2. The Orioles have cashed in the underdog role twice in this series, while the ‘under’ of 8 ½ has hit each time.

What to watch for: Baltimore has won four of its past six road series finales, while the O’s go for just their second road sweep of the season (first came at Tampa Bay in May). The Angels have compiled a 6-0 record in Weaver’s last six starts, while the Halos are 8-2 in his past 10 outings at Angel Stadium. Los Angeles has drilled the ‘under’ in seven of the previous nine home contests, but has scored three runs or less four times in the past five games.

Armadillo: Wednesday's six-pack

-- Big West basketball schools (except for Hawai'i) give 13 scholarships, but only six of them can be to kids who don't live in California. All the leagues' schools are in California, except for new member Hawai'i.

-- Losing LB Kiko Alonso is a big blow to the Bills; he got a whole segment of the Bills' highlight film to himself this past winter.

-- LSU had nine players taken in NFL Draft this past spring, most in country.

-- Author Stephen King wrote every day for nine years before he ever had a book published; sometimes it takes persistence to reach your goals.

-- Emmanuiel Mudiay skips college, signs in China for $1.2M. Basketball players who go overseas have a language barrier; imagine being three months out of high school and doing it? He'll have money, but not sure if he'll have fun.

-- So if Tony Dungy ran '47 Dodgers, he wouldn't have signed Jackie Robinson? After all, there were issues in Brooklyn, things didn't always go smoothly.

**********

Armadillo: wednesday's List of 13: Doing some thinking out loud.......

13) Sad day to be a Padre fan; they get shut out by a rookie at Wrigley, after they salary-dumped one of their best players to Bronx, with Chase Headley getting the game-winning RBI in his first game for the Bombers. No bueno.

12) Mainstream media has to differentiate between "breaking rules" and "cheating" when it comes to recruiting in college sports. Its virtually impossible to be a good recruiter and never break a rule-- there are just too many rules, with many of them incredibly obscure. Cheating would have to be described as more intentional.

11) Dodgers can't play Yasiel Puig in centerfield, he is just too wreckless and would create chaos at a key defensive position. With his throwing arm, right field is the correct place for him to play.

10) Rangers' pitcher Colby Lewis was whining this week because Toronto's Colby Rasmus bunted against a shift when his team was up two runs in the fifth inning. All this time I thought there was no crying in baseball, but Lewis looks like a jerk after he gave up a hit on a bunt. Jays were up only two runs in the fifth inning, so why not take what you're given? I don't see why it is so controversial.

9) Speaking of the Rangers, what were the odds that a game would be 0-0 thru 12 innings when the two starting pitchers were Nick Martinez and Chase Whitley?

8) Cubs' 1B Anthony Rizzo caught a foul ball by his dugout Sunday, but then fell into the dugout with the ball, which allowed the runner on third base to score. Don't see a lot of sacrifice flies caught near one of the dugouts.

7) Red Sox are rumored to be trading Jake Peavy soon (they've lost his last nine starts); if they do trade him,. LSU alum Anthony Ranaudo could replace him. Kid is 6-0, 1.82 in his last nine AAA starts.

6) I'm wondering if Mets' CF Juan Lagares is the best defensive CF ever? He just makes tough catches look so easy- very impressive.

5) Giants won in 14 innings in Philly last night; game took so long, starter Tim Lincecum came on, pitched the last inning-- because it was 9-5 at the time he came on, Lincecum didn't get his first career save.

4) Wonder why Bill O'Brien left Penn State? Professional son Jay Paterno is now suing the school over "improper termination"; in other words, as soon as his dad wasn't the coach anymore, the school went out and got a better QB coach.

3) Journeyman lefty Jeff Francis has already pitched for Bronx, the Reds and A's this year; its conceivable all three teams could make the playoffs and Francis could collect a playoff check from all three teams-- that would be odd.

2) Oakland A's signed a 10-year lease deal to stay in the cruddy Coliseum, the only MLB ballpark that also houses an NFL team; it does not bother me, think its cruddiness gives the A's an odd home field advantage over its opponents. Look at the Twins- they got a new ballpark and have mostly struggled since.

1) Interleague games in AL parks, with a DH, under is 54-37.
Interleague games in NL parks, with no DH, over is 57-41. Go figure.

Thursday's Tip Sheet

July 24, 2014

Mets at Brewers – 8:10 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
NYM: Gee (4-2, 2.92 ERA)
MIL: Garza (6-7, 4.04 ERA)

Previous series recap: The Mets continue their lengthy road trip after grabbing two of three from the Mariners at Safeco Field. New York held off Seattle on Wednesday, 3-2 to cash as +120 underdogs, while improving to 3-3 on this trip. The Brewers pulled off a three-game sweep of the slumping Reds at home, including Wednesday’s 5-1 rout as -140 favorites.

What to watch for: Milwaukee won two of three matchups at Citi Field the last time these teams hooked up in June, as the road team owns a 7-3 record in the past 10 meetings in this series. The Brewers have lost three of Garza’s past four starts at Miller Park, while the ‘over’ has cashed three times in this stretch. The ‘under’ is 6-1 in Gee’s past seven outings, as the Mets have hit the ‘under’ in five consecutive contests overall.

Indians at Royals – 8:10 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
CLE: Kluber (10-6, 2.95 ERA)
KC: Duffy (5-10, 2.66 ERA)

Previous series recap: After dropping the series opener at Chicago, the Royals won the final two games over the White Sox, including Wednesday’s 2-1 triumph. Kansas City’s pitching limited Chicago to just two runs in the final victories, while the Royals are riding a modest two-game winning streak following a four-game skid. The Indians continue their venture through the AL Central, going 4-3 through the first seven contests at Detroit and Minnesota. However, the Tribe lost two of three at Target Field, capped off by a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday.

What to watch for: This series has been fairly even this season with the Indians holding a slight 5-4 advantage through nine matchups. Kluber has won his last three starts, including a home victory over the Royals earlier this month as a -150 favorite in a 4-1 triumph. Kansas City is 6-0 to the ‘under’ in Duffy’s past six starts, while the team has won just once in this stretch. The Royals have struggled at home of late, posting a 4-9 record the last 13 games since sweeping a mini two-game set from the Indians in early June.

White Sox at Twins – 8:10 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
CHW: Noesi (4-7, 5.21 ERA)
MIN: Hughes (10-6, 4.06 ERA)

Previous series recap: Chicago’s offense hit a flat spot against Kansas City, plating just five runs in a series defeat to the Royals. The Sox split their six-game homestand to the Royals and Astros, while going ‘under’ the total five times. After getting swept by the Rays, the Twins grabbed two of three from the Indians, but Minnesota has scored three runs or less five times in six games since the All-Star break.

What to watch for: The Twins have won five straight meetings against the White Sox, including pulling off a four-game sweep at Target Field last month. Hughes has allowed at least five earned runs in five of the last six starts, while the Twins are 2-0 in the right-hander’s two starts against the Sox this season. Chicago has struggled in road series openers of late, posting a 1-6 record in the last seven Game 1’s on the highway.

Tigers at Angels – 10:05 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
DET: Scherzer (11-3, 3.34 ERA)
LAA: Richards (11-2, 2.47 ERA)

Previous series recap: The Angels avoided a sweep by knocking off the Orioles last night, 3-2 to cash as heavy -165 favorites. Los Angeles has compiled a 3-3 record on its current 10-game homestand, while hitting the ‘under’ five times through the first six contests. The Tigers held off the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, 11-5 to capture two of three in that interleague set. Detroit improved to 12-4 in its past 16 contests on the highway dating back to late June.

What to watch for: Since the start of 2013, Los Angeles has beaten Detroit seven of nine times, but the Tigers took two of three from the Angels at Comerica Park back in April. The Tigers are 6-2 in Scherzer’s last eight road starts, while the right-hander shut down the L.A. lineup in a 5-2 home victory on April 19 as a -160 favorite. The Angels own a 9-1 record in Richards’ past 10 trips to the mound, while the Halos are 10-2 in their previous 12 home series openers since May.

Orioles at Mariners – 10:10 PM EST

Probable Pitchers:
BAL: Chen (10-3, 4.21 ERA)
SEA: Iwakuma (8-4, 2.95 ERA)

Previous series recap: The Orioles rebounded from a tough series loss at Oakland to beat the red-hot Angels two of three times on the road. Although Baltimore couldn’t complete the sweep, the O’s limited the Halos to just seven runs in the three-game set, resulting in three ‘unders.’ The Mariners also saw the ‘under’ cash in all three games of their series against the Mets, but Seattle dropped the final two contests after taking Monday’s opener, 5-2.

What to watch for: Seattle is riding a 6-0 hot streak in its previous six home series openers, while the M’s own a 5-2 record in Iwakuma’s past seven trips to the mound. Chen lost twice to the Mariners last season, both in the favorite role, while allowing eight earned runs and 13 hits in 11 innings of work. The Baltimore southpaw is unbeaten in his past three starts, but Chen has not lasted past the sixth inning in his last five trips to the hill.
