And the fact that you can't even read my user name tells me you have a $2 brain. Only complete douche bags need to tell everyone how much they bet. But it is definitely entertaining to listen to you cry and complain, so by all means, keep it up.

My comments were not directed so much at Joey P or anyone in this thread so much as they were the complete loudmouths who ran that blog. It's not "just fun" when people buy into it with their hard-earned money, and I'm just trying to present the other side of this ridiculous story. People (unfortunately) buy into this garbage because it goes unchallenged, even when it doesn't come true and they should lose credibility.

People like the blog owner think they can make all these outrageous statements and then just shrug it off when they don't come true. I tried to call it out ahead of time because I feel sorry for people who listen to touts like this, except complete douches who need to make themselves feel better about their losses by announcing how much they bet and attacking the lone voice of reason in the thread.

just for the record, my first post was BEFORE the fact, not after it. I'm sorry you guys bought into the irrational exuberance and that you felt the need to react that way, but no hard feelings.

The truly sad part of this thread (if actually true) are the grooms who are out 10k. It sounds like you can afford what you lost. Given what most grooms make, this is a LOT of money for them. And to answer the question posed on the last page by JoeyP, YES they are (fvcking) crazy for betting that much on this horse given the circumstances.

Again, I made my first post BEFORE the race, not after it. Standard response from someone who looks ridiculous, trying to make himself feel better for being so foolish to buy into hype. Won't be the last time I'm sure, but the more people who learn this lesson, the less money will go up in flames.

I think KY Derby Future wagers are like lighting money on fire. Why on Earth would I try to pick the winner until all the races are run and the post positions are drawn. Many times the odds on race day are better than you can get on future wagers anyway.

There is nothing "respectable" about hyping an unraced 3 year old for the Derby who ran 2 sprints as a 2 year old and was then injured and making statments encouraging people to place wagers on him.

But again, I don't blame you for being angry, if it makes you feel better taking it out on me, go right ahead. Bullshit needs to be called bullshit, and that blog was complete bullshit and needs to be called such. And anyone who bought into it is deserving of a little less respect IMO.

Not sure why you are focusing so much on the board selectors in this thread when my focus is on the "owner's" blog. I think it is unfortunate that JoeyP and GMS lent their credibility to this farce, which to their regular readers like you, apparently legitimized it, but the real problem here is blog and all the ridiculous statments in it. Reposting them does not help, but the real problem is the blog.

It's fine to be an owner and be excited about the prospects of your horse. But declaring him the winner of the derby and/or bluegrass and posting other "bandwagon" statements like the jock saying he's going to be the favorite and his grooms pooled 10k, that's just beyond ridiculous when the horse has not even run a route or been out his 3 year old season at all.

I'm sorry if you are "tired" of people calling bullshit bullshit. This is not a case of someone selecting a winner in an allowance race at Gulfstream and then being wrong, I would never jump on anyone for doing such a thing and never have. This is horse racing, and people make incorrect selections all the time. What I have a problem with is the runaway train hype machine over an extended period of time that was built with next to zero foundation to go off of. That's why I posted my comments BEFORE the race and am now here after the race to make sure everyone understands how ridiculous that owner's blog was.

As for my selections, I tend to keep them to myself and protect the odds I get. Notifying other people (especially those on this board with supposedly deep pockets) about live longshots can only hurt your own payoffs. I've got no problem with JoeyP or anyone else doing it, to each his own, I just prefer not to. I could care less if anyone thinks I'm a good handicapper or not or how much the trailer trash on this site thinks I bet. What they think has absolutely no meaning to me.

Good luck to you and I hope that JoeyP can get back to selecting winners for you instead of chasing garbage like this.

Read right after the Bluegrass the horse was off the derby trail but perhaps not.

CHARITABLE MAN (Lemon Drop Kid), seventh in last Saturday's Blue Grass S. (G1) in his first start in seven months, is scheduled to return to the track Wednesday morning, according to Neal McLaughlin, assistant to his brother Kiaran.

"He is going to train in the morning and we are going to see where we are with him," McLaughlin said. "He came out of the race fine and cooled out quick. We are going to keep our options open."

With $150,000 in graded stakes earnings, Charitable Man may have enough in the bank to earn a spot in the Kentucky Derby (G1) starting gate.

"The owners may want to go over to Churchill Downs and see how he trains over there and have a work there," McLaughlin said.

update;

Mr. and Mrs. William K. Warren Jr.’s Charitable Man returned to the track for the first time since finishing seventh in last Saturday’s Toyota Blue Grass.

“He jogged this morning, first day back, and looked great,” said Neal McLaughlin, assistant to his brother, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin.

No final decision has been made regarding Charitable Man’s possible participation in the Kentucky Derby.

thanks for the email Joey. Owners still are leaving it up to me on where to run him next. He didnt' take a liking to the synthetic surface, however, I feel the dirt at churchill should suit him fine. After the race on saturday, he wouldn't even blow out a candle. So the horse was fit and ready, just did not take to the surface. I thought it wouldn't be a problem since he did train very well and his sire, lemon drop kid, does okay on the surface.

If its not the derby it will be travelers

I will keep everyone updated on the site

thanks for the email, and don't hop off board just yet

Husker is correct.. Found this posted 4/17/09 in the Kentucky Courier-Journal:

Charitable Man, who finished seventh in the Blue Grass Stakes in his first start since taking Belmont's Futurity last fall, is out of the Kentucky Derby picture, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said today.

With the disappointing performance blamed on not handling Keeneland's Polytrack, owner William Warren had wanted to see how the colt trained at Churchill Downs before making a final decision. That option now is off the table.

"He's a great owner and it was a tough decision," McLaughlin said. "But he felt like it was in the best interest of Charitable Man to not run in the Kentucky Derby, and we hope to have a very nice colt for the rest of the year."

McLaughlin said options include Belmont's Peter Pan Stakes, the Preakness or an allowance race. "But we're not going to the Kentucky Derby," he said.

McLaughlin did add a second contender for the Kentucky Oaks in Bourbonette runner-up Fitz Just Right. That filly worked in company of Grade II Bonnie Miss winner Justwhistledixie this morning at Keeneland, the pair going five furlongs in 1:00.

Justwhistledixie has won five straight races and figures to be the Oaks' second choice behind Rachel Alexandra. McLaughlin was impressed enough with Fitz Just Right to add her to the Oaks as well. She'll be ridden by Ramon Dominguez, he said.

McLaughlin picks Peter PanBy David Grening - Posted 6:45 pm

Instead of running in the Preakness, trainer Kiaran McLaughlin and owner William Warren have elected to run Charitable Man in Saturday's Grade 2, $200,000 Peter Pan Stakes at Belmont Park.
