I'm confused. I've read Casablanca's press release and the article about CBS Broadcasting Inc. flexing their muscles against Casablanca. Did the television giant actually file a suit against the book or just send Dave Johnson a cease and desist email. Dave doesn't strike me as the type to back down over a threatening email, especially after he took on the whole forum trying to justify not paying areef way back when. Is it possible that Casa is just trying to generate publicity and the broadcasting giant isn't even in contact with Dave trying to steal his URL. After all last time I checked BETCBS still forwards to wagerweb. I don't really know what's going on but I haven't come across any press releases from the tv giant or any statements issued by their attorneys.

As for hearing from Casablanca, it's pretty obvious from the shilling that we already have.
What's Casablanca going to say? That they didn't intentionally try to use the CBS trademark? That the similarity of the logo is a coincidence? That they've never skipped out of a country without paying a landlord? That I don't have any good reasons for questioning their integrity?

I'm not a lawyer, but I think that if they made money using CBS's trademark, then CBS is entitled to compensation or supression. Would you open a burger joint and call it eatMcDonalds and expect to get away with it?
Better yet, how would Casablanca feel if another sportsbook used the name: betcbs.org or betcbs.tv or betcbs2.com, etc.

It was a marketing decision that worked for a while, now it wont. Time to try something else. If they lose customers over this, then that is the price they pay for using someone elses name.
All I really care about is the safety of my money at these offshore books and Dave paid me whenever I asked.

I agree that 99% of the posters here care only about whether the book pays or can afford to pay. As a player, you are pretty safe playing there.
However, there are also BM's or agents that are on this forum looking for a book to handle their customers. These people should steer clear of Casablanca.
