The punchline to the story about this asshole Delgado is that after all his anti-U.S.A. statements that he had to go out of his way to make, he finished by asking America for a $100 million handout for Puerto Rico, a country that would rather stage anti-U.S. protests than work. There's that third-world tin-cup, beg-for-spare-change, the-world-owes-me-a-living mentality coming out.

It's so ironic that conservs are always claiming to be so patriotic yet are so willing over look basic, fundamental rights that made our nation great.

Who's denying him his rights? He said what he said didn't he? Was his speech or actions stopped in any way? Was he put in jail after his speech/actions? I wonder if he would be able to say/do similar things under say Sadaam, or say Kim Whackjob or say Assad or say Khadafi or say the Taliban...oh well you get the point.

I'm expressing my freedom of speech by disagreeing with this asshole Delgado's methods. YOU, kaya man, are the one trying to suppress MY right to express my disagreement with this asshole Delgado. I never said he doesn't have the right to say it. If people in the media's eye want to keep making assholes of themselves, that certainly is their right in America.

micheal 777 responded to Wilheim saying that players have a right to expresses themselves with he totally disagrees.

johnnydemarco apparently feels that you have the freedom of expression as long as you agree with the government...
"Whether he believes in war or not doesn't matter-you play for the home team."

"Delgado is a worthless fuk that should be kicked out of American when he enters."

"yes will, with all due respect,it does make you much less of a patriot "

Having the guts to oppose an administration that is wrong is more patriotic than blindly following it.

I think that if we as a nation vote a guy in as president we stand behind him. Period. We were forced to watch Clinton make a mockery of the most powerful position in the world.

Carlos Delgado is showing his "roots" (take that many ways) He is also making sure that any of the good teams never sign him.

He should be worried about his now >211 batting average and not making a political stand in the dugout anyway. 20 million a year and he can't be a team player. Major league asshole.

another reason why the Quebecois should thank the USA,
"* The 2003 average attendance for Montreal is combined for both home stadiums. Here are the breakdowns:

Hiram Bithorn Stadium, San Juan, PR: 14,282
Olympic Stadium: 12,980 "

if it was not for the good old USA and our 51st state Puerto Rico the socialist's would not even have a baseball team to bitch about.
I wonder if Delgado refuses to stand for National Anthem in PR or if he only grows hair on his balls up in Canada?

"I think that if we as a nation vote a guy in as president we stand behind him. Period."

Well first of all he barely won. Secondly what's the point of free elections if you have to support the guy you didn't believe in? Thirdly it's a civic duty to stand up to and speak out against the government when it's wrong. That's how women got the vote, segregation was ended, Nam was ended, etc.

"We were forced to watch Clinton make a mockery of the most powerful position in the world."

Actually those of us that watched the whole Clinton/Lesinsky deal unravel it was the repub party's attack and the publics shock that made a mockery of us. The predominant attitude was...
what's the big deal about sex? What a bunch of uptight freaks.

It was the Republican attacks that were wrong not what Clinton did....just like Sandy Burglar...it's the timing of the leak not the fact that he swiped documents. You flaming libs are all alike.

Not only was Clinton wrong for what he did, HE LIED ABOUT IT UNDER OATH. This is the highest office in the land for Christ sake...do you think that maybe a little respect/dignity is in order? You flaming libs would think it was OK to take a piss on the Vietnam memorial if you really had to go bad. You'd justify it by saying it's just a piss and every guy has done it outside at one time or another. Amazing.

I didn't say Clinton was right, I simply pointed out what made us look stupid on the international level. That said, Clinton lied to a question he never should have been asked, did the press ever ask JFK about the naked secretaries in the pool with him when he was giving interviews. Also denying it after getting busted cheating on your wife is almost instinct and most guy's would do the same thing.

Either way I'll take a president that lies about sex over a president that lies about why he's going to war any day.

I didn't see the incident with Delgado....had I seen it I would have probably dismissed it as one man's choice not to follow another man's tradition....the same as that driver that won the indy and didn't take the traditional drink of milk....so fawking what?

It would appear that the liberals on this board are looking at this issue with the concept of individual choice granted by the constitution, while the flagwaving conservatives are outraged because one man didn't follow some longstanding tradition that is clearly a matter of choice as to follow it or not.

Personally I'd rather live in a country where the individual is offered the right to choose, if there ever comes a time when choice is taken away, I will say that there will be some policies in effect that even the conservatives will neither like or agree to follow. If there was one religion to practice in the US, and all the other ones were outlawed, would you be confident that the religion you believed in was the only legal one left to practice? Maybe if it was taken away then you'd realize and appreciate what freedom really is.

As far as someone saying that "I think that if we as a nation vote a guy in as president we stand behind him. Period.".......that assumes that we agree with his policies and actions and also assumes that they are correct. Some people seem to forget that Hitler ran a country once, and all the people just followed him like mindless sheep, millions of people died because of his leadership, and most of the infrastructure of Europe was destroyed. I guess standing behind Hitler wasn't too great of a choice. Period.

That has only been important to some posters in this forum since the year 2000. Prior to that was the "Clintoon" era where it was not un-American to be critical of the president. How times have changed, go figure.
