Interesting thread here that I thought deserved a cameo from yours truly.
Some of you guys need to be more consistent in what you post. Many of the same guys calling Kirk a stiff were also telling Lapdance not to pay off on his bet with me. None of you know the real story save for a couple posters (Hinesward may be one) and a dead man and his wife.
Bottom line, you make a wager and lose you pay up. Did I look like a possible scammer? Absolutely. At least as much as this poster/agent/bookie if not more. You never know though, when dealing with online cartoon characters.
Captain Kirk is a stiff. If there was a bookie, he would have stiffed him, too. The "agent" poster is probably a stiff, but was never given a chance to pay. In this shady world, there is probably nothing wrong with a guy booking bets, claiming to be backed by an agent, so long as he pays what he owes. This debt should be paid.
Your case was a little different. Had I made the bet with you, and you were on the hook for 14K and I was on the hook for 1K, and you stopped visiting the forum, didn't respond to my emails or emails from the person moderating the bet, I would have had a very, very hard time paying you when you showed up the day after the bet won after hiding for months. Nevermind the fact that you were offered to settle before the Finals, and I could have hedged with the other side at +180 or so. I probably would have caved when the posters I respect told me I had to pay. But payment to you would have required a sit-down conversation to find out exactly why you did wtf you did. That was fucking shady, and not cool. My initial reaction was "fuck WVU," and I don't know that I was wrong.
