Hmmm... I’m not so sure about that. Bill’s record in his career without Tom Brady? 51-65

That’s not even respectable. It’s downright putrid.

And I know that record doesn’t paint the entire story. But you would think a football genius of his level could do a little better than a winning percentage of 43%.

Good god, in the age of free agency his roster management has been impeccable

Every player whoever played for the Patriots talks about his preparation and game planning for his opponents

Most of their Super Bowl victories were NOT won by their offense, it was their defense that carried the day

Your post shows everyone how numbers can and do lie

Tom Brady is the GOAT, but his single biggest contribution to the Patriots is playing for less than market value enabling Belichick to keep the team strong

Bill Belichick is the GOAT, you can live in denial if you so choose

I don’t like the signing but I doubt there is a better option out there that doesn’t cost you way more, as in lots of draft picks.

I would have preferred signing someone else, and they still may. I couldn't stand watching Cam pass, and sometimes his decisions were even worse.

But I think back to 2009, when Brady wasn't at his best in his first full year back. Much better in 2010. So I'm hoping 2021 Cam is much better than 2020 Cam. Even more so that Brady, since it will be Cam's 2nd year playing under Belichick

I disagree with his roster management being impeccable. The past few years he really has done a poor job of surrounding the QB with quality skill position players. You could really see it in Brady's last season in NE. Looking back, Brady was the only thing making that thing work. Now that he left, it really magnified the poor job Bill has done the past few years constructing the offensive side of the ball.

And I agree about the defense. He's the best defensive coach ever. And he's overall a great coach. I just think when analyzing him as a coach in context, you have to look at what he's done without the greatest QB of all-time. That has to be part of the conversation.

His single biggest contribution is being the best player of all time and thus #1 reason the Patriots were able to dominate for 20 years.

In 5 years or so you’ll realize elite quarterbacks are more valuable than elite coaches.

That isn’t true about SB victories either, offense was just as responsible as defense or more responsible in everyone besides first and last. And the offense scored 79pts in 2 games to get to the SB in the last 1.

I think BB a great coach but every mistake gets minimized with a superstar QB and every good move gets maximized. Without a top QB, that just isn’t the case. You’re subjected to all the volatility and variance of football.

BB just has an elite QB for 20 years so some people think he’s immune to this or above it.

After ‘08 and first part of ‘16 people thought he had a cheat code (no pun intended) to make any QB solid in “the system”, that’s just small sample results playing tricks on people. A coach can’t hack NFL that bad.

All that’s salary cap space .
Cam taking even less money then Brady which was his greatest accomplishment ever .

So all that salary cap space for the most impeccable personnel manager ever

You need to lower that bar.

Like jame said, the AFC East has improved tremendously.

Belichick is the best coach in the game despite what the Love guy says (there is a growth curve for all of us, sir). If he is able to get some offensive weapons at WR, and TE this team will compete. If he were to land a QB substantially better than Cam and also get those offensive weapons the Pats will be dangerous again. But those are very big "ifs".

And oh yea if the nfl goes to 17 games at anytime the next 3 years obviously this bet is void or at the very least adjusted

OK, bet

And if they play more or less than 16 games in any season, the bet is void unless the change didn't change the outcome

For example, if they play 47 instead of 46 but the Pats won 31 games, I win. Or if they only play 45 games and the Pats win 25, you win.

Value is in the eye of the beholder. If you think he's more valuable than the most valuable guys to ever play the game then 29 is a pretty reasonable bar to clear. Especially starting w/ a ton of cap room in a cap restricted year and his highest draft pick in 12 years. Best QB's clear 30 in 3 years in their sleep.

I would just adjust the bet to winning 60.5% of games over/under which is what 29/48 corresponds to. So when seasons go to 17 games or 18 games it just adjusts on % basis.
