The Eagles have turned Westbrook's rehab over to these specialists and will follow whatever they recommend. It seems unlikely that Westbrook will be cleared for practice anytime before next week.

Westbrook experienced no concussion-related symptoms, which is a positive sign. We're still not expecting him to suit up until Week 15 if at all. December 3

"It's still less than 50-50 that we'll see him before Week 17," Caplan added. Caplan appears to be speculating rather than reporting, but he's clued in to the Eagles organization. Westbrook did not experience concussion-related symptoms after his latest workout, which is a positive sign. Still, the chances of him making a fantasy impact again this season are negligible.

Still, Westbrook will return only as a committee back, sharing work with starter LeSean McCoy and red-hot Leonard Weaver.

Westbrook is still unlikely to be available Sunday night against the Giants, but Jackson is on track to start and resume every-down receiver duties. Both players' progress is still worth monitoring throughout the week. Any setback (headaches, fuzzy vision) would force the Eagles to shut them down again.

The Eagles would take a fierce P.R. hit if their 30-year-old running back was rushed into the lineup and suffered his third concussion of the year. Look for LeSean McCoy to resume pacing the Birds' backfield in touches on Sunday Night Football.

Westbrook has tried out a new helmet using the same shock-absorbing technology that protects Army paratroopers and Navy SEALs. The helmet is designed to turn hits into "glancing blows," decreasing the chances of concussion. Westbrook has missed six of the Eagles' last seven games. The team is reportedly "quietly" confident that he'll return against San Francisco.

Despite a report that Westbrook was due back in the lineup, he's very likely to sit out Week 15. Doctors are still examining the results of his workouts. Even when he does return, Westbrook will be eased into a committee role. No one should consider him a likely fantasy contributor down the stretch.

Westbrook has worked with the scout team on a limited basis for the last two weeks. A full practice would be a step in the right direction, but he'll still be tested and monitored by doctors. Despite this encouraging news, the best-case scenario still looks like Week 17 for Westbrook. Even then, he would be in a committee.

Reid said he would find out for sure on Tuesday, but the coach seemed very optimistic. He said it's important to ease Westbrook onto the field over the next two weeks as the Eagles prepare for the playoffs. If Westbrook does suit up on Sunday, we'd expect him to get just a handful of touches.

"He'll have fresh legs out there," said Reid. "Obviously he's not going to play the whole game. [We will] make sure we keep track of how many plays he plays, if it comes down to that." Westbrook won't be a fantasy option, but he may eat into the workloads of Leonard Weaver and LeSean McCoy.

Westbrook appears on track to dress for Sunday's game against the Broncos. Assuming he does return, his snaps will be very limited. Look for LeSean McCoy and Leonard Weaver to carry the load with Westbrook getting a handful of touches at best. Westbrook won't see significant work until the NFL playoffs at the earliest.

</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>One of the greatest Eagles ever almost certainly will not be back at that price. At the very least, he'll be asked to take a major pay cut. At most, we know the Eagles aren't afraid to let popular veterans go (see Brian Dawkins, Jeremiah Trotter). Even if he returns in 2010, Westbrook will be part of a committee with LeSean McCoy and impending restricted free agent Leonard Weaver.
