</TD></TR><TR><TD class=vaLink>Westbrook was injured last Monday night against Washington and doesn't appear ready to play, but things can change as we get closer to game time. Rookie LeSean McCoy will get the start in place of Westbrook. The drawback on McCoy is that he is shaky in blitz pickup, and it could be a tough day for Donovan McNabb.

Rookie LeSean McCoy will get his second start of the season. In his first start against the Chiefs, McCoy rushed 20 times for 84 yards with a touchdown. Don't expect those numbers against the Giants, but he will catch passes out of the backfield as the Eagles go pass-heavy. Westbrook will try to get ready for next week's game against the Cowboys.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Eagles coach Andy Reid announced that Brian Westbrook (concussion) is scheduled to resume practicing on Wednesday.
"He's not going to do contact, which is not unusual for what we do as a team out there," Reid said. "We'll just see how he feels. He'll go through a normal practice if he can do it." Westbrook's headaches are clearing up, and he should have a good chance to play against the Cowboys in Week 9.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Brian Westbrook (concussion) was given Friday's practice off and is listed as "questionable" for Week 9, but is expected to play against Dallas.
Coach Andy Reid held Westbrook out of practice for precautionary reasons, as he often does on Fridays. Westbrook fully participated on Wednesday and Thursday. We rank him as the No. 15 fantasy back this week (high-end RB2).

I don't know about the rest of you but I've about had it with this guy.

I will definitely make sure to avoid drafting him next year......

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>Eagles coach Andy Reid said Monday that Brian Westbrook (concussion) will be out as long as his headaches persist.
The team isn't going to push him. Westbrook got medical clearance last week, but was deactivated on game day. "I’m not going to stick him out there if he has the headaches, even if the tests were positive," Reid said. "(We'll) try to take every precautionary measure possible." Now also battling more ankle trouble, Westbrook appears very questionable for Week 10.

</TD></TR><TR><TD vAlign=top colSpan=3>In addition to his concussion-related headaches, Brian Westbrook is also dealing with swelling in his surgically repaired ankle.
"He had a little bit of swelling, so he had some work done," coach Andy Reid said, explaining that a Wednesday absence from practice would be due to the ankle rather than the concussion. The "work done" did not involve surgery, so Westbrook still has a chance to play this week if the headaches subside.

The Eagles routinely sit Westbrook when they're practicing on Astroturf, so it appears his absence was precautionary. His status for Week 10 against San Diego remains uncertain. The swelling has reportedly dissipated from his ankle for now, but could reappear if he practices on Thursday. Westbrook and LeSean McCoy owners need to closely monitor this situation.

He's on track to start against the Chargers Sunday, though owners should check back Friday to make sure he had no setbacks with either injury. Sure to split touches with LeSean McCoy if he plays, we have Westbrook ranked as the No. 17 fantasy option with McCoy coming in at No. 23.

Westbrook put in two straight days of practice and is on track to start against the Chargers' No. 26 run defense. While he will be in a committee with LeSean McCoy, as usual, Westbrook is a good bet to lead the backfield in touches and get red-zone work. He's been more productive than McCoy on a per-play basis all season. Consider Westbrook a quality RB2 start.

Brian Westbrook - RB - Eagles Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed Friday that he fully anticipates Brian Westbrook (probable, ankle) playing in Week 10.
No surprise deactivations this time. "Playing," Reid responded when asked about his running back's status. "I'm feeling a lot better," Westbrook added. "I'm ready to go." He makes for a quality RB2 play Sunday at San Diego. November 13

As ESPN's Adam Schefter points out, Steve Young, Troy Aikman, and Bill Romanowski all visited the concussion clinic and hospital in Pittsburgh prior to ending their careers. That's not to say that Westbrook's career is over, but it's clearly a possibility right now. Hopefully, he receives good news.

McCoy is a solid RB2 option in PPR leagues against the Bears this week as Leonard Weaver mixes in for some short-yardage plays.

After talking to them, he will have a better idea if he can play again this season. The Eagles are forced to use LeSean McCoy now despite their concerns about his pass protection.

Doctors say his symptoms "improved significantly" in the last three days, and that Westbrook produced all favorable test results. "We are very encouraged by Brian's progress, we believe that he has an excellent prognosis," the docs added. Westbrook will get another checkup in 2-3 weeks after being put on a "comprehensive rehab plan," although the Eagles were advised to take a "conservative" approach with their 30-year-old tailback. It appears Westbrook's career isn't over, but he's still no sure bet to return in 2009.

And he's not even a safe bet to return after that. Three weeks is the timetable concussion specialists set for Westbrook's next checkup, which may or may not involve medical clearance. LeSean McCoy has better shot at starting for the rest of the season than Westbrook does of returning in Week 14.
